APERA INSTRUMENTS / LABSEN 861 · 863 · 865 / AI3167 / AI3176 / AI3241
LabSen 861, 863 and 865 are non-refillable pH electrodes for corrosive and high-temperature solutions up to 130°C, such as electroplating solutions. They pair a PHY glass membrane with a PTFE ring junction that resists clogging from complex chemicals. The 861 has a BNC connector, the 863 adds a built-in temperature sensor with an RCA plug, and the 865 is the 8-pin pH/temperature version for PH60 and PH60Z testers fitted with the required 8-pin socket/adapter.
Listed operating envelope: pH 1–13 as a conservative common range; electrode/sample temperature 0–130°C, subject to the host meter’s temperature and compensation limits. Choose the version that matches your meter’s connection and temperature requirements from the menu above. Apera warrants LabSen electrodes for six months from delivery.

BNC versions connect to the pH input of BNC pH meters. They have no temperature sensor: use a separate temperature probe supported by the host meter (Apera’s MP500 only where the meter supports it), or manual temperature entry where available.
BNC/RCA versions carry a built-in 30 kΩ NTC temperature sensor on an RCA plug for automatic temperature compensation on Apera meters with BNC and RCA inputs, such as the PH700, PH850, PH8500, PH820, PH910 and PH9500. Apera notes they may not work with other brands’ meters because the thermistor might not be compatible.
The 8-pin version is a pH/temperature electrode for Apera meters with an 8-pin socket, including the PH60, PH60-Z, PH400, PH400S and the PC400, PC400S, SX736 and SX751. PH60 and PH60Z require the appropriate installed 8-pin socket/adapter; this cabled electrode does not replace the native tester probe directly. Confirm the adapter separately; its inclusion is not implied.
Temperature figures are electrode/sample ratings, not a complete-system rating. Use a meter and temperature-compensation method rated for the actual sample temperature; keep the meter body, cable connection and adapter within their own confirmed limits. Connector fit alone does not establish temperature or ATC compatibility.
Made for high-temperature and caustic solutions; Apera rates it 10 times stronger than traditional glass.
Helps resist junction clogging from complex chemicals.
Blue gel inner solution does not flow or form bubbles; silver ion trap for long service life.
Operating envelope: pH 1–13 as a conservative common range; electrode/sample temperature 0–130°C, subject to the host meter’s temperature and compensation limits. Common construction: body lead-free glass; glass membrane PHY, cylindrical; reference electrolyte gel KCl.
Junction: 861 PTFE ring; 863 PTFE ring; 865 PTFE.
The full specification table is in the Product Specifications tab. pH 1–13 is the conservative common range across the reviewed documents. The 865 PTFE junction, gel KCl and 130°C electrode limit follow its current standalone page; its PH60Z-HT kit table gives conflicting construction and higher temperature values, which are not adopted here. Even the PH8500-HT meter lists compensation/display only to 100°C: an electrode rating does not validate a 130°C meter system.
Keep the tip in its cap with 3M KCl storage solution whenever it is not measuring.
Never store a pH electrode in pure, deionized or distilled water.
The 861, 863 and 865 are sealed and need no refilling.
Apera presents these electrodes for caustic and hot sample measurements, but its 861/863 care instructions also caution against strong acid, strong alkali and dehydrating media such as absolute ethanol or concentrated sulfuric acid. Do not interpret the application label as unrestricted chemical resistance or permission for prolonged immersion/storage in the sample. Confirm demanding caustic chemistry with Apera, minimize exposure and clean afterward. High-temperature testing accelerates electrode aging; keep measurement time as short as practical.
Rinse with distilled or deionized water between samples. For stubborn deposits, use Apera electrode cleaning solution, then recondition and recalibrate.
Apera ships this electrode in these kits: PH850-HT (LabSen 863), PH8500-HT (LabSen 863), PH700-HT (LabSen 863), PH60-HT (LabSen 865), PH60Z-HT (LabSen 865).
Calibrate with fresh pH 7.00, pH 4.00 and pH 10.01 buffers, or pH 12.45 for caustic samples.
LabSen 861, 863 and 865 are non-refillable electrodes for caustic and high-temperature sample measurements, such as electroplating solutions. Their 130°C electrode rating is not a complete-system rating or a guarantee for continuous immersion; host limits and application-specific chemical restrictions apply.
861 has BNC for pH only; 863 adds an RCA-connected 30 kΩ NTC temperature sensor for a compatible Apera meter; 865 uses Apera’s 8-pin connection. PH60/PH60Z need the appropriate installed 8-pin socket/adapter, not a direct native-probe swap. Check host compatibility and adapter supply before ordering.
The pH signal uses BNC, but the built-in 30 kΩ NTC temperature sensor is not universally compatible. Apera lists meters with matching BNC/RCA inputs; verify the meter’s thermistor support and temperature range before relying on ATC.
No; it is sealed and needs no refilling.
Keep the tip in its cap with 3M KCl storage solution whenever it is not measuring. Never use pure, deionized or distilled water.
Apera warrants LabSen electrodes against defects in material and workmanship for six months from delivery. Accidental damage, improper use and normal wear are excluded.
No. The 0–130°C figure rates the electrode/sample exposure, not the whole system. PH60’s manual lists ATC at 0–50°C, and the PH8500-HT meter lists temperature compensation/display only to 100°C. Confirm your exact meter, temperature-compensation method and connector limits; the PH60Z kit manual’s inconsistent temperature units are not proof of 130°C capability.
Do not use the 130°C electrode rating as a continuous-immersion guarantee. High temperature accelerates aging; minimize measurement time, clean afterward and store in 3M KCl. The 861/863 manuals conflict between caustic application and strong-alkali care warnings, so obtain Apera’s confirmation for the actual chemistry and exposure. This listing uses pH 1–13 conservatively.
Check the version, connector and catalog number (AI3167 / AI3176 / AI3241) against your meter and samples, then return to the live price and ordering controls.
865 construction and 130°C electrode limit follow its current standalone page. Conflicting ceramic/140°C values in the PH60Z-HT kit table are not adopted. High-temperature testing accelerates aging; minimize measurement time. No continuous-immersion rating is claimed.
APERA INSTRUMENTS, LLC warrants LabSen electrodes to be free from defects in material and workmanship for SIX MONTHS from the delivery.
This limited warranty does NOT cover accidental damage, improper use, normal wear and tear, transportation, storage, failure to follow the product instructions, unauthorized maintenance, modification or repair, or external causes beyond Apera's reasonable control.
Exact model-specific manuals for 861 and 863; neither is a universal 865 manual. Both support the conservative pH 1–13 used here. Their 130°C electrode rating does not establish a complete meter-system limit. These manuals contain conflicting caustic application and strong-alkali care wording: minimize exposure and obtain application-specific confirmation for demanding caustic work. The 865 construction is attributed to its current standalone page, not the conflicting kit table.
