APERA INSTRUMENTS / PH700 / AI501

A steady place to test.
A clear record to recall.

Build a practical general-water pH station around the PH700 benchtop meter, its supplied 201T-F pH/temperature electrode and simple side-mounted holder. The adapter-powered format keeps the probe, controls and calibration routine together at the bench.

Choose AI501 when stationary testing and local manual save/recall fit the work. It is not the portable PH400S recording/export kit, and it does not include every LabSen specialty electrode pictured in the broader PH700 family.

Stated accuracy includes ±1 digit; sample-method effects are separate.

1-3 points

Automatic pH calibration

Five supported buffer values do not mean five calibration points.

BENCH CONVENIENCE, NOT A DIFFERENT ACCURACY PROMISE

Choose the working format
before comparing features.

A defined station

DC9V adapter power and the supplied holder suit a regular bench position. IP54 splash/dust resistance is not the waterproof field rating of a portable kit.

pH and temperature together

The 201T-F connects blue BNC to pH/mV and black RCA to temperature. A connector that fits physically is not proof of the correct temperature-sensor match.

Keep a small local record

Save a stable reading with M+ and recall it with RM. The 50-set memory is a local manual record, not automatic interval logging or a verified GLP audit-trail system.

Signal processing behind the reading.

Apera identifies a Texas Instruments microprocessor in PH700’s signal-processing design. This manufacturer feature illustration adds context to the electronics behind the controls.

The published pH specification, calibration and sample/electrode conditions still define the measurement. A chip brand does not add USB export, automatic interval logging or a certified audit trail to this model.

Apera’s PH700 signal-processing feature graphic. Manufacturer-described electronics, not an independent performance test.
Manufacturer illustration of PH700 holder positions
Two mounting positions are illustrated, not two supplied stands. One holder mounts on either side.

Put the holder where
your workflow needs it.

The manual describes a metal stand base, support bar and electrode clip that can be mounted on either side of the meter. Use the simple supplied arrangement rather than assuming an articulated laboratory arm is part of AI501.

Keep the glass bulb and reference contact appropriately immersed in a representative sample. A beaker used for demonstrations is not a supplied kit component.

EXACT BASE KIT

Know what AI501 includes.

Meter and electrode

PH700 plus the 201T-F. The electrode is the base general-water configuration, not a LabSen specialty sensor.

Three buffer solutions

One 50 mL bottle each of pH 4.00, 7.00 and 10.01. These are the supplied standards, not five bottles because the meter recognizes five possible values.

Bench setup

One simple holder, power adapter and instructions. No ORP probe, USB cable, beaker, large articulated arm or carrying case is promised.

The 201T-F has a storage vial/cap. That is not evidence that a separate retail bottle of storage solution is included. Optional related products and alternative PH700 kits are separate purchases.

PH700 cardboard packaging illustration; carton is not a reusable carrying case
Packaging illustration, not a reusable carrying case or proof of hidden contents. The current base-kit checklist above defines what is supplied.

Select the sample envelope,
not only the display range.

The included 201T-F is a non-refillable gel-reference electrode for appropriate general-water measurements. The PH700 manual recommends routine samples at pH 2-12 and 10-50°C, with medium ionic strength such as conductivity 100-10,000 µS/cm or salinity below 0.5%.

Those conductivity/salinity figures describe an electrode application context. PH700 does not measure EC or salinity. Low-ionic water, heavily contaminated liquids, strong chemistry and hot-end samples need a separately evaluated electrode and method.

Instrument display and compensation intervals do not override the electrode or sample-method limits. Manufacturer documents have differing temperature endpoints, so this page does not convert the largest meter number into an unrestricted whole-kit sample rating.

MAKE THE TWO LAYERS EXPLICIT

Temperature compensation
is not an electrode-tolerance guarantee.

Meter function

The manual gives automatic/manual compensation over 0-100°C. This is an instrument function, not permission to expose the included electrode to every temperature in that interval.

Routine included-probe use

The manual’s recommended general-water envelope is pH 2-12 and 10-50°C. Select the actual matrix, temperature and method within appropriate probe guidance.

Extreme conditions

Product-page/manual and standalone-probe endpoints differ. Confirm the exact electrode revision and working conditions before relying on an edge-of-range rating.

PH700 front panel showing CAL, MODE/SETUP, MAX/MIN and M+/RM controls
PH700 CAL and local-memory controls. Phone view enlarges the actual button panel; displayed readings are illustrations, not promised sample results.

One to three calibration points.
Five possible standard values.

Choose the USA or NIST buffer series in the meter settings. The supported USA values are 1.68, 4.00, 7.00, 10.01 and 12.45; the NIST series includes 1.68, 4.01, 6.86, 9.18 and 12.45. Calibration uses at most three points, not five.

Start with the neutral point as instructed: 7.00 for USA or 6.86 for NIST. Add appropriate acidic/alkaline points for the expected sample. After two- or three-point calibration the meter shows slope information, helping the operator review the calibration rather than simply accepting a displayed number.

Use fresh uncontaminated standards and the current manual’s rinsing, stability and calibration steps. Automatic standard recognition does not remove sample preparation, electrode care or the required laboratory quality-control method.

PH700 display illustration with pH, temperature, stability and calibration indicators
Illustrative manufacturer display. A reading shown in a photograph is not a guaranteed sample result.

A clear display.
A modest local memory.

The backlit LCD shows pH and temperature with stability and calibration indicators. The max/min function tracks extrema during its selected measurement period; it is not a claim of a permanent exported history.

M+ manually saves a stable result and RM recalls it. The 50 sets are shared by pH and mV. Stored fields include the record number, measurement, unit, temperature and compensation status; a date/time field is not promised.

At capacity, FUL appears and the manual directs a clear through P4 before further storage. Plan your recording procedure before clearing data. No USB/PC export or automatic interval-recording function is established for PH700.

ORP IS A DIFFERENT SENSOR TASK

mV mode does not turn
the pH electrode into an ORP probe.

With the supplied pH electrode connected, mV mode displays that electrode’s original pH millivolt signal. An ORP measurement requires a separately purchased appropriate ORP electrode, such as the manufacturer-referenced 301Pt-C.

The instrument’s mV range is ±1999 mV with 1 mV resolution. It does not establish that an ORP electrode is included, that any BNC accessory is a validated complete replacement, or that temperature compensation for pH is an ORP compensation claim.

PH700 rear connection graphic with optional electrode examples, not the supplied kit contents
Manufacturer connection-options graphic. The illustrated optional LabSen electrodes are not supplied with AI501. Phone view focuses on the pH/mV and TEMP labels.

Match the interface,
then the sample method.

The supplied 201T-F uses blue BNC for pH/mV and black RCA for its 30KΩ temperature sensor. PH700’s IP54 protection is splash/dust resistance, not an immersion or waterproof field rating.

A compatible-looking BNC plug is only one part of selection. Check the electrode chemistry, temperature sensor or manual-compensation arrangement, and the intended sample before choosing an optional probe. The manufacturer’s illustrated alternatives are not extra sensors in this box.

Care for the sensing element
and the reference contact.

Rinse appropriately between standards and samples, avoid contaminating buffers, and protect the glass tip from abrasion or impacts. Let the reading stabilize under the actual method instead of forcing a result by timing alone.

The 201T-F uses a gel reference and is not a user-refillable reservoir. Keep the tip in its tightly closed storage vial with the specified 3M KCl solution. Tap, RO, distilled and DI water are rinsing waters, not storage substitutes.

Use the current manufacturer instructions for contaminant-specific cleaning, conditioning and recalibration. A dirty, dry or poorly conditioned electrode should not be diagnosed solely by the meter’s last displayed decimal place.

Demonstration bench scene. The beaker and liquid are props, not supplied kit items; follow the appropriate sample and electrode method.

See the exact PH700 workflow.

Apera’s PH700 tutorial covers the bench setup, connector arrangement, calibration, measurement, local memory and optional ORP work. Use the current manual for the exact configuration and operating limits.

Choose a different format
when the job calls for it.

Alternative format: PH400S portable recording/USB workflow is a different working format and electrode interface, not the PH700 kit with a different label.

Alternative format: PH60 pocket pH tester suits compact standalone checks when a permanent bench station is unnecessary.

Related workflow: PH60-PW specialized pure-water kit addresses a low-ionic-water method. Its external probe is not represented as a mechanically compatible PH700 replacement.

PH700 buying and operating questions

What comes with PH700 AI501?

The base kit includes PH700, one 201T-F pH/temperature electrode, one holder, adapter, three 50 mL buffers at pH 4.00/7.00/10.01, manual and quick-start guide. It does not promise a LabSen or ORP probe, USB cable, beaker, large arm or carrying case.

How is PH700 different from PH400S?

PH700 AI501 is an adapter-powered bench station with a 201T-F BNC/RCA electrode and 50 local manually saved sets. PH400S is a portable recording/export workflow with a different electrode connection. Choose by working format, not a claim that PH700 has superior published pH accuracy.

Do five supported buffer values mean five-point calibration?

No. PH700 supports 1-3 calibration points. It can recognize five values in the selected USA or NIST series, but that list is not the number of simultaneous calibration points. Start neutral as directed and select additional points for the sample.

Can PH700 export its 50 records to a computer?

No USB/PC export function is documented. The 50 sets are shared by pH/mV and manually saved/recalled. No automatic interval logging, date/time record field or certified audit-trail system is promised.

Does mV mode measure ORP using the supplied probe?

No. The 201T-F in mV mode shows its original pH electrode signal. ORP requires a separately purchased appropriate ORP electrode. A ±1999 mV instrument range is not evidence of an included ORP sensor.

Can any BNC pH electrode replace the 201T-F?

Do not assume complete compatibility from a connector alone. The supplied 201T-F uses BNC for pH/mV and RCA for its 30KΩ temperature sensor. Match the electrode, temperature interface and method using manufacturer evidence; the 8-pin portable configuration is different.

Is the base kit intended for pure water, dirty samples or very hot liquids?

The included 201T-F is the general-water configuration. The manual recommends pH 2-12 and 10-50°C with medium ionic strength. Specialty matrices and extreme conditions need an appropriate separately evaluated electrode/method. Meter compensation range does not override the supplied probe.

Is PH700 waterproof or suitable for immersion?

PH700 is IP54 splash/dust-resistant, not an IP57 waterproof field kit. Keep the meter body out of samples and use the electrode correctly. The supplied simple holder is a bench convenience, not permission to immerse the instrument.

Set up the right bench station.
