APERA INSTRUMENTS / LABSEN 851-1 / AI3110

A conical tip
for viscous samples.

LabSen 851-1 is a refillable glass pH electrode for viscous samples such as skincare products, cosmetics and coatings. Its conical membrane and triple ceramic junction work with Protelyte reference solution and a silver ion trap to reduce junction clogs. It has a BNC connector.

It reads pH 0 to 14 from 0 to 100°C. Catalog AI3110. Apera warrants LabSen electrodes for six months from delivery.

Check the connector.

It plugs into any pH meter with a BNC input. It has no temperature sensor, so pair it with a separate temperature probe such as Apera’s MP500 where compatible with the meter, for automatic temperature compensation; manual temperature entry is an option only if the meter supports it at the sample temperature. Electrode ratings do not extend the meter’s or separate temperature probe’s operating or compensation limits.

What makes it work.

Conical glass membrane

Shaped for viscous samples; Apera rates it 10 times stronger than traditional glass.

Protelyte + silver ion trap

The reference system reduces junction clogs in thick samples.

Triple ceramic junction

Three ceramic junctions keep electrolyte flowing.

Check the specifications.

Key figures: pH range 0–14; temperature range 0–100°C; body lead-free glass; glass membrane conical; junction ceramic × 3; reference electrolyte Protelyte.

The full specification table is in the Product Specifications tab.

Store it wet.
Keep it clean.

Keep the electrode wet in Apera Protelyte storage solution when it is not in use.

Never store a pH electrode in pure, deionized or distilled water.

It is refillable: keep the fill hole open while measuring and top up the reference electrolyte when the level drops.

Apera’s manual advises avoiding strong acids, strong alkalis and dehydrating media such as absolute ethanol or concentrated sulfuric acid; if exposure is unavoidable, keep immersion short and clean the electrode carefully afterward.

Rinse with distilled or deionized water between samples. For stubborn deposits, use Apera electrode cleaning solution, then recondition and recalibrate.

Calibrate with fresh pH 7.00, pH 4.00 and pH 10.01 buffers.

LabSen 851-1 buyer questions

What is the LabSen 851-1 made for?

LabSen 851-1 is a refillable glass pH electrode for viscous samples such as skincare products, cosmetics and coatings.

Is it refillable?

Yes. LabSen 851-1 uses Protelyte reference solution for refilling, not a sealed pre-pressurized gel system. Keep the fill hole open during measurement.

How should I store it?

Keep the electrode wet in Apera Protelyte storage solution when it is not in use. Never use pure, deionized or distilled water.

Which meter connection does LabSen 851-1 need?

LabSen 851-1 (AI3110; BTS-AI3110) uses BNC for pH and has no built-in temperature sensor. ATC requires a separate meter-compatible sensor; manual temperature entry must be supported by the host.

What are the LabSen 851-1 operating limits?

The current US specification is pH 0–14 and 0–100°C. The connected meter and temperature sensor must also cover the actual sample conditions.

What helps LabSen 851-1 measure viscous samples?

A conical glass membrane, three ceramic junctions, Protelyte electrolyte and a silver ion trap reference system are designed for samples such as skincare products, cosmetics and coatings. Its listed body size is Ø12 × 120 mm.

Can LabSen 851-1 be left in aggressive chemicals?

No general chemical-resistance claim is made. Its manual advises avoiding strong acids, strong alkalis and dehydrating media such as absolute ethanol or concentrated sulfuric acid. If exposure is unavoidable, keep immersion brief and clean carefully afterward; store and recondition in Protelyte.

What warranty applies?

Apera warrants LabSen electrodes against defects in material and workmanship for six months from delivery. Accidental damage, improper use and normal wear are excluded.

Confirm the exact configuration before ordering.

Check the connector and catalog number (AI3110) against your meter and samples, then return to the live price and ordering controls.
