A titanium blade spear
for fresh and frozen meat.

LabSen 761, 763 and 765 are non-refillable glass-sensor blade-spear pH electrodes with food-grade titanium protection for direct pH testing of fresh or frozen meat. The 761 has a BNC connector and the 763 adds a built-in temperature sensor with an RCA plug. The 765 is the 8-pin pH/temperature version for PH60/PH60-Z testers with the compatible 8-pin adapter/socket installed; Apera rates it for fresh or frozen meat, fish and seafood.

All three cover pH 0–14. LabSen 761 and 763 are rated 0–80°C; use 0–80°C provisionally for LabSen 765 pending clarification of conflicting manufacturer documents. Choose the version that matches your meter’s connector from the menu above. Apera warrants LabSen electrodes for six months from delivery.

Version Connector and build
LabSen 761 · AI3159 BNC connector, no temperature sensor; non-refillable; ceramic + single pore junction, polymer electrolyte.
LabSen 763 · AI3202 BNC + RCA plugs, built-in 30 kΩ NTC temperature sensor; non-refillable; ceramic + single pore junction, polymer electrolyte.
LabSen 765 · AI3245 8-pin connector, built-in 30 kΩ NTC temperature sensor; non-refillable; open junction, polymer electrolyte.

BNC versions plug into any pH meter with a BNC input. They have no temperature sensor, so pair them with a separate temperature probe such as Apera’s MP500 where compatible with the meter, for automatic temperature compensation; manual temperature entry is an option only if the meter supports it at the sample temperature. Electrode ratings do not extend the meter’s or separate temperature probe’s operating or compensation limits.

BNC/RCA versions carry a built-in 30 kΩ NTC temperature sensor on an RCA plug for automatic temperature compensation on Apera meters with BNC and RCA inputs, such as the PH700, PH850, PH8500, PH820, PH910 and PH9500. Apera notes they may not work with other brands’ meters because the thermistor might not be compatible.

The 8-pin version is a pH/temperature electrode for Apera meters with an 8-pin socket, including the PH60, PH60-Z, PH400, PH400S and the PC400, PC400S, SX736 and SX751.

PH60/PH60-Z testers require the compatible 60/60-Z-series 8-pin connection adapter/socket to be installed; a standard tester is not a direct plug-in host. Confirm adapter inclusion before ordering. The electrode’s temperature rating does not expand the connected meter’s measurement or compensation range.

What makes it work.

Titanium blade spear

Food-grade titanium cuts into the sample and resists corrosion and impact.

Model-specific junctions

LabSen 761 and 763 use ceramic plus single-pore/open junctions with polymer electrolyte. The current US LabSen 765 page specifies an open junction and polymer electrolyte. All are non-refillable; do not generalize the 761/763 double-protected construction to 765.

Sturdy glass membrane

Apera rates the LabSen membrane 10 times stronger than conventional glass.

Check the specifications.

All versions share: pH range 0–14; reference electrolyte polymer.

Junction: 761 ceramic + single pore; 763 ceramic + single pore; 765 open.

Temperature range: 761 / 763 0–80°C; 765 provisional common operating envelope 0–80°C. The current standalone 765 page lists 0–100°C and an open junction, while the related PH60Z-MT v2.1 kit manual lists the electrode at 0–80°C with an open-plus-ceramic junction. Obtain Apera confirmation for AI3245 before relying on 100°C or harmonizing its junction construction.

Store it wet.
Keep it clean.

Keep the tip in its cap with 3M KCl storage solution whenever it is not measuring.

Never store a pH electrode in pure, deionized or distilled water.

The 761, 763 and 765 are sealed and need no refilling.

For LabSen 761 and 763, avoid bending the spear tip when piercing meat, especially frozen meat. For LabSen 765, Apera’s PH60Z-MT instructions say to use the blade to slowly bore a hole (pathway) in hard or frozen meat before inserting the electrode to avoid sensor damage. Do not force or lever the glass sensor; supported frozen-meat use does not mean unrestricted force or an expanded electrode/meter temperature range.

Apera’s manual advises avoiding strong acids, strong alkalis and dehydrating media such as absolute ethanol or concentrated sulfuric acid; if exposure is unavoidable, keep immersion short and clean the electrode carefully afterward.

Rinse with distilled or deionized water between samples. For stubborn deposits, use Apera electrode cleaning solution, then recondition and recalibrate.

LabSen 761 · 763 · 765 buyer questions

What is the LabSen 761 / 763 / 765 made for?

LabSen 761, 763 and 765 are non-refillable glass-sensor blade-spear pH electrodes with food-grade titanium protection for direct pH testing of fresh or frozen meat.

Which version do I need?

LabSen 761 (AI3159) is BNC without a temperature sensor; 763 (AI3202) adds 30 kΩ NTC temperature sensing on BNC/RCA. LabSen 765 (AI3245) uses 8-pin on compatible Apera meters; PH60/PH60-Z require the installed 60/60-Z adapter/socket. Confirm whether it is included.

Will the BNC/RCA version work on another brand’s meter?

The pH signal is standard BNC, but Apera notes the temperature thermistor may not be compatible with other brands’ meters. Use it on Apera meters with BNC and RCA inputs.

Is it refillable?

No; it is sealed and needs no refilling.

How should I store it?

Keep the tip in its cap with 3M KCl storage solution whenever it is not measuring. Never use pure, deionized or distilled water.

Can I test frozen meat with LabSen 761, 763 or 765?

Yes, Apera supports fresh/frozen-meat applications. Avoid bending the 761/763 spear tip, especially in frozen meat. For 765, use the blade to slowly bore a hole (pathway) in hard or frozen meat before insertion, as its PH60Z-MT instructions specify. Never force or lever the sensor; observe electrode and host temperature limits.

Is LabSen 765 rated to 80°C or 100°C?

Manufacturer sources conflict: the current standalone page says 0–100°C, while the PH60Z-MT v2.1 electrode table says 0–80°C. Use the common 0–80°C envelope pending confirmation for AI3245. LabSen 761/763 are rated 0–80°C. None of these ratings expands a connected tester’s limits.

What warranty applies?

Apera warrants LabSen electrodes against defects in material and workmanship for six months from delivery. Accidental damage, improper use and normal wear are excluded.

Confirm the exact configuration before ordering.

Check the version, connector and catalog number (AI3159 / AI3202 / AI3245) against your meter and samples, then return to the live price and ordering controls.

Document scope and limits. The 761 and 763 downloads are exact-model manuals. PH60Z-MT is related kit guidance for the LabSen 765, not a standalone manual covering every family member. Its §5.2.2 specifies slowly boring a pathway before inserting into hard/frozen meat. Its 765 electrode table says 0–80°C and open + ceramic, conflicting with the current standalone page’s 0–100°C and open junction; use the common 0–80°C envelope pending Apera confirmation. The kit document does not prove that an adapter is included with a standalone 765 order.
