Micro-volume pH: 30 µL for 241-3/241-3SP; 50 µL for 241-180.
APERA INSTRUMENTS / LABSEN 241-3 · 241-3SP · 241-180 / AI3104 / AI3151 / AI3161
LabSen 241-3, 241-3SP and 241-180 are refillable micro pH electrodes for samples too small for a standard probe. The 241-3 has a Ø3 mm tip on a Ø4 mm stainless steel protective shaft for microplates, microcentrifuge tubes and microbiological samples from 30 µL. The 241-3SP is the same design with Protelyte electrolyte for protein-containing samples such as serum. The 241-180 has a Ø3 × 180 mm measuring tip and a Ø12 × 60 mm body for NMR tubes and other slim, deep containers, from 50 µL. All three use a BNC connector.
It reads pH 0 to 13 from 0 to 100°C. Choose the version for your sample from the menu above. Apera warrants LabSen electrodes for six months from delivery.

Fresh and frozen meat
Titanium blade spear; BNC, BNC/RCA or 8-pin.
BNC versions plug into any pH meter with a BNC input. They have no temperature sensor, so pair them with a separate temperature probe such as Apera’s MP500 where compatible with the meter, for automatic temperature compensation; manual temperature entry is an option only if the meter supports it at the sample temperature. Electrode ratings do not extend the meter’s or separate temperature probe’s operating or compensation limits.
Low-resistance LabSen glass at a Ø3 mm tip.
A Ø4 mm stainless steel shaft protects the slim glass tube. Apera states volumes as low as 15 µL with its micro container.
Ceramic junction and refillable reference: 3M KCl, or Protelyte on the 241-3SP.
All versions share: pH range 0–13; temperature range 0–100°C; glass membrane micro, cylindrical; junction ceramic.
Reference electrolyte: 241-3 3M KCl; 241-3SP Protelyte; 241-180 3M KCl.
Dimensions: 241-3 and 241-3SP have a Ø3 × 16 mm exposed measuring tip and a Ø4 × 54 mm stainless-steel protected section; the manual lists the body as Ø12 × 130 mm. The 241-180 has a Ø3 × 180 mm measuring tip and a Ø12 × 60 mm body: 180 mm is the tip length, not the entire electrode.
The full specification table is in the Product Specifications tab.
Keep the tip wet in storage solution in its cap between uses; the 241-3 and 241-180 use 3M KCl storage solution.
Never store a pH electrode in pure, deionized or distilled water.
The 241-3, 241-3SP and 241-180 are refillable: keep the fill hole open while measuring and top up the reference electrolyte when the level drops.
Use 3M KCl to refill and store the 241-3 and 241-180. The 241-3SP requires Protelyte for both refill and storage; after cleaning, soak its tip in Protelyte for at least 1 hour, then rinse and recalibrate. Do not apply the other versions’ KCl instructions to the 241-3SP.
Rinse with distilled or deionized water between samples. For stubborn deposits, use Apera electrode cleaning solution, then recondition and recalibrate.
Apera ships this electrode in these kits: PH700-MS (LabSen 241-3SP).
Calibrate with fresh pH 7.00, pH 4.00 and pH 10.01 buffers.
LabSen 241-3, 241-3SP and 241-180 are refillable micro pH electrodes for samples too small for a standard probe.
All use BNC without a temperature sensor. Choose 241-3 (AI3104) for general micro samples, 241-3SP (AI3151) for protein-containing samples such as serum, or 241-180 (AI3161) for NMR tubes and other slim, deep vessels.
Yes. Refill LabSen 241-3 and 241-180 with 3M KCl, but refill 241-3SP with Protelyte. Keep the fill hole open during measurement.
Store LabSen 241-3SP in Protelyte; after cleaning, soak it in Protelyte for at least 1 hour, then rinse and recalibrate. Store 241-3 and 241-180 in 3M KCl. Keep the tip wet; never store any version in pure, deionized or distilled water.
LabSen 241-3 and 241-3SP are for samples from 30 µL; 15 µL requires Apera’s micro container. LabSen 241-180 requires at least 50 µL. Vessel shape must allow the sensing end and junction to contact the sample.
For 241-3/241-3SP, allow for a Ø3 × 16 mm exposed tip followed by a Ø4 × 54 mm stainless-steel protected section, not a uniform Ø3 mm shaft. The 241-180 has a Ø3 × 180 mm measuring tip and a Ø12 × 60 mm body; 180 mm is not its total length.
No built-in temperature sensor is fitted. Use a meter-compatible separate sensor, or manual temperature entry where supported at the actual sample temperature. The offered electrode limits remain pH 0–13 and 0–100°C; these do not expand the host’s limits.
Apera warrants LabSen electrodes against defects in material and workmanship for six months from delivery. Accidental damage, improper use and normal wear are excluded.
Check the version, connector and catalog number (AI3104 / AI3151 / AI3161) against your meter and samples, then return to the live price and ordering controls.
APERA INSTRUMENTS, LLC warrants LabSen electrodes to be free from defects in material and workmanship for SIX MONTHS from the delivery.
This limited warranty does NOT cover accidental damage, improper use, normal wear and tear, transportation, storage, failure to follow the product instructions, unauthorized maintenance, modification or repair, or external causes beyond Apera's reasonable control.
Official Apera documents are labeled by model and scope below. Each whole card opens a PDF in a new tab.
Document scope and limits. Each manual applies to its named model. The 241-3SP specifically requires Protelyte for refill, storage and reconditioning; 241-3/241-180 use 3M KCl. These manuals state pH 0–14, while current US product pages specify 0–13; this offer retains the narrower 0–13 range.
