APERA INSTRUMENTS / PH60S-Z / AI3713
Apera PH60S-Z measures pH and temperature in moist soft-solid and semisolid samples. Its PH60S-DE spear-shaped glass membrane establishes direct sample contact, with standalone calibration, stability indication and readings.
Choose AI3713 for sacrificial samples, not hard or frozen penetration. The spear is fragile glass. Discard tested food; never return it to the edible batch.
Each card opens that kit page, not an upgrade for the current meter. Match the supplied head and supported measurements. Phones and additional probes are not included unless the exact kit contents say so.
AI3711
General aqueous pH
PH60-DE glass-bulb probe; optional ORP60-DA upgrade.
AI3715
Wetted flat surfaces
PH60F-DE flat membrane; defined small-volume method.
AI3713
Moist soft-solid samples
PH60S-DE spear glass; sacrificial sample method.
AI3717
Dedicated ORP
ORP60-DE head; not a pH-convertible body.
AI3718
Conductivity and conversions
EC60-DE head; no pH or supported ORP upgrade.
AI3719
pH plus conductivity
PC60-DE combo head; ORP60-DA sold separately.
AI3803
Combo plus separate ORP head
PC60-Z meter with PC60-DE and separate ORP60-DA.
PH60S-DE combines spear-shaped glass, polymer electrolyte and a double-junction reference without a diaphragm. Its shape helps contact moist material. Never twist, bend or use the fragile tip to open a tough surface.
Automatic recognition supports 1-3 calibration points. Start at neutral, then select standards for your sample range. The default 0.01 pH resolution is a display increment, not guaranteed sample accuracy.
Measure, calibrate and use HOLD without a phone. Correctly assembled, the IP67 enclosure floats. Seat caps and connections securely; protect the glass from impact.
Use on suitable moist samples such as soft cheese, prepared fruit or other compatible semisolid material. Take a sacrificial portion and discard it after measurement. pH alone cannot establish microbiological safety, shelf life or regulatory compliance.
The replacement probe is intended for suitable solid growth media, but moisture, stones and resistance matter. Use an appropriate preparation method and never drive the glass into dry, compacted or stony material. No universal soil insertion depth is specified here.
Measure compatible aqueous solutions, including buffers, with adequate wet contact. Direct and diluted sample methods are not interchangeable; keep preparation consistent.
Remove a representative sacrificial portion of food before testing. Inspect the material for hard inclusions or a resistant outer skin. If necessary, prepare a pilot hole with a clean knife; do not use the electrode to pierce hard rind or frozen material. Insert evenly, without forcing or bending the glass.
Calibrate first with clean buffer portions. Select USA or NIST standards, start at pH 7.00 or 6.86 respectively and wait for stability before confirming. Continue to a suitable second point without powering off, adding a third when appropriate. Rinse between buffers and samples to limit carryover.
Allow sample temperature to stabilize. ATC covers 0-50°C and corrects electrode response, not all chemical pH changes with temperature. The -2.00 to 16.00 pH display range is not universal compatibility with strong acids, alkalis, solvents or extreme samples.
Rinse before and after each measurement to remove food or growth-medium residue. Never wipe or rub the glass tip. Follow the cleaning instructions with a suitable cleaner when deposits persist, then condition in 3M KCl and recalibrate. Do not force an apparently fixed shield or probe part off for cleaning.
Keep the spear in 3M KCl storage solution whenever it is not in use. Do not let it dry out or store it submerged in water. Replace contaminated or depleted cap solution and close the cap securely. Storage-solution replenishment is not a user refill of the internal reference electrolyte.
Replace damaged or exhausted probes with PH60S-DE, AI3713-E. Protect the connector, align without force and tighten the ring. Condition and calibrate before use; a fresh head still needs a consistent sampling method.
Use the physical controls for standalone measurement and calibration. The stable-reading indicator and HOLD help you read a result; a held display is not an onboard measurement-history logger for later upload.
Keep the connectors and battery compartment dry when changing parts. Follow the exact manual for key sequences, battery orientation and cap sealing. Screen values in photographs are illustrative, not test results or a promise of compatibility with another sensing head.
The tester measures and calibrates without a phone. Connect a compatible smartphone inside ZenTest, rather than treating operating-system PIN pairing as the measurement workflow. Bluetooth, required phone permissions and a nearby powered tester are needed for new connected readings. A smartphone is not included.
ZenTest offers Simple, Dial, Graph and Table views, with manual and timed recording, measurement/calibration records, and tools for notes, photos and location tagging. Available parameters still depend on the exact body and fitted head. Display choices cannot add pH or conductivity to an unsupported model.
Account and cloud functions depend on the compatible app, service and internet connection. Reviewing already saved records while disconnected is not continuous measurement acquisition outside Bluetooth range. Keep an independent copy of important records and check the current app listing for device compatibility before purchase.
Publisher documentation describes data sharing/export, and Apple release history identifies CSV. Native Excel or PDF reports, exact current logging intervals, and identical export behavior on both operating systems are not promised. Neither the meter nor this app overview establishes an immutable audit trail, regulatory compliance, guaranteed background alarms or offsite safety monitoring. Check your recordkeeping procedure before relying on connected data.
Alternative format: Apera PH60S Spear pH Tester Kit (AI313). Compare the exact standalone kit when Bluetooth-connected recordkeeping is not needed. A related family name does not establish the same probe upgrades or app support.
No. Discard tested food and keep sacrificial samples separate from edible material. A satisfactory pH reading does not establish pathogen absence or safe storage.
No. Prepare a suitable soft portion and a clean pilot hole where needed. Never bend the glass or force it against stones, seeds, bones or resistant rind.
No universal depth is promised. Use a suitable moist-medium method and gentle contact, avoiding compacted or stony material. Preparation affects results; this is not a rugged soil-piercing rod.
Check wet sample contact, temperature equilibration, cleanliness, hydration and fresh calibration standards. Clean and condition in 3M KCl, then verify in a known buffer. Persistent failure or broken glass calls for probe replacement, not more insertion force.
PH60S-DE (AI3713-E) is the matching replacement. PH60-DE, PH60F-DE and PH60S-DE are supported pH alternatives, sold separately. Choose by sample type and recalibrate after fitting.
Optional ORP60-DA, AI3717-DA, replaces the pH probe for ORP. Do not substitute ORP60-DE. A conductivity probe is not a supported EC upgrade.
Tester with matching probe and cap, pH 4.00 and 7.00 buffers, calibration vials, 3M KCl, lanyard, case, instructions and four AAA batteries. Phones, sample props and alternate probes are not supplied.
Check buffers, cleanliness, hydration and connection; recalibrate and verify a known buffer. Warranty excludes routine wear, accidental damage and incorrect storage.
