The Apera PH60S-DE replacement probe is designed for pH sampling in soft solids and semi-solids such as cheese, meat, fruit, vegetables and sushi rice. The US specification describes a spear glass membrane, a Long-Life reference system with polymer electrolyte, and a double junction without a diaphragm.

Compatible ZenTest tester body
The pointed glass sensing tip is designed for direct sampling in suitable soft-solid and semi-solid materials. Insert it evenly and protect it from bending or impact.
Apera’s US product description identifies a Long-Life reference system using polymer electrolyte. The name describes the reference design, not a guaranteed service interval.
The exact US probe listing specifies a double junction without a diaphragm. This detail is specific to PH60S-DE and is not inferred from the tester body.
In addition to soft-solid samples, Apera lists common water solutions as an application for this spear probe.
Compatibility applies to the named tester body and stated sensing role. A shared connector or a similar probe name does not make every 60-series sensor interchangeable. Tester display, connectivity, app and data functions belong to the compatible tester, not this replacement probe.
Remove the probe cap, unscrew the probe ring and unplug the old probe. Align the new probe correctly before plugging it in, then tighten the probe ring. Do not force the connector.
After replacement, soak the probe in 3M KCl for 5–15 minutes, then calibrate the compatible tester before measuring. Follow the manual for the particular tester body and use fresh, clean pH calibration buffers.
For a soft-solid sample, insert the spear evenly and avoid sideways force. If the sample is too hard, the PH60S-Z manual instructs making a small hole with a clean knife before inserting the probe. Allow the reading to stabilize. Food testing must be a sampling test; do not eat the tested sample.
For sampling cheese, meat, fruit, vegetables, bread and sushi rice. Use a separate sample: food tested with the probe should not be consumed.
For suitable soft-solid and semi-solid samples, including solid growth medium named by Apera. Do not force the glass spear into hard material.
Also suitable for common water solution pH tests when used on a supported tester body.
Always store the spear probe in 3M KCl storage solution when it is not in use. Keep it in the appropriate storage sleeve and never let it dry out. Replace contaminated storage solution.
Rinse with pure water before and after testing, but never store the probe in tap, RO, distilled or deionized water. Pure water is for rinsing only.
Handle the glass spear gently and avoid sideways pressure. Inspect it for damage, clean it according to the parent tester manual, and recalibrate as required. Use separate food samples and discard them after testing.
PH60-Z, PH60F-Z, PH60S-Z and PC60-Z. On PC60-Z it serves as a pH probe, not as the pH/conductivity combination probe.

Exclusions include accidental damage, improper use, normal wear, transportation, storage, failure to follow instructions, unauthorized maintenance or repair, and external causes. This is not the parent tester’s two-year warranty.
