A viscous-liquid bench kit with a sealed, pre-pressurized reference.
APERA INSTRUMENTS / PH700-VS / AI5016
The PH700-VS combines a bench meter with the LabSen 853-H pH/temperature electrode for selected viscous liquids. A pre-pressurized reference helps sustain electrolyte outflow where thick sample residues challenge ordinary junctions. It is not permission to test every formulation without preparation.
Choose AI5016 for suitable water-based coatings, skincare emulsions, syrups and similar liquid matrices under an approved laboratory method. Match chemistry as well as viscosity. The included glass sensor is not a spear tip, a universal solvent probe or a maintenance-free substitute for good sample handling.
Each card opens that product page. Different kits supply different probes and care methods. The 201T-F card is an electrode-only base-kit replacement, not an extra specialty electrode supplied with these kits.

The pre-pressurized gel KCl reference is designed to maintain outflow through the ceramic junction in viscous samples. Residue can still accumulate; cleanliness and stable sample contact remain essential.
The hemispherical HA membrane is designed for reduced alkaline error, with a silver-ion-trap reference. The current US kit manual specifies pH 0-14 and 0-100°C for the 853-H. These limits do not establish universal resistance to solvents or aggressive chemicals.
Connect the blue BNC to pH/mV and black RCA to TEMP. The included NTC 30 kΩ sensor provides temperature input for automatic compensation. No separate temperature probe is required; compensation does not standardize every formulation to one temperature.
Establish chemical fit and a representative aliquot before testing.
Use the formulation’s approved method, including any specified preparation and reporting basis.
Control sample temperature and prevent residue from carrying over into the next measurement.
Use a representative, homogeneous aliquot prepared according to the product’s laboratory method. Control the measurement temperature and use calibration standards reasonably close to that temperature. Perform at least a two-point calibration before initial use, following the kit manual and the expected sample range.
Rinse the probe, then immerse the sensing membrane and junction adequately in the liquid. Brief gentle movement helps release trapped bubbles; let the probe stand still and record only a stable reading. Thick samples must make real contact with the junction, not merely coat part of the glass.
Do not impose a universal dilution ratio on cosmetics, coatings or syrups. If the approved method calls for dilution, extraction or dispersion, report the prepared sample accordingly. An extract is not automatically the undiluted product’s pH. Anhydrous and non-aqueous products require separate method and electrode assessment.
The 853-H is non-refillable. Its internal pre-pressurized gel KCl reference is sealed; do not treat the external storage solution as an instruction to add electrolyte inside the electrode. Inspect and handle the glass gently; it is not breakproof.
Remove residues after each sample and rinse between standards and measurements. Never rub the sensing membrane. Use the exact kit manual’s contaminant-specific cleaning, rehydration and recalibration guidance when ordinary rinsing is insufficient. Do not improvise strong chemical mixtures for stubborn coatings.
Between sessions, keep the tip and junction hydrated in the tightly closed storage vial with 3M KCl solution. Pure water is for rinsing, not long-term storage. Keep the BNC and RCA connections dry. Cleaning and storage supplies beyond the documented kit contents should be planned separately.
PH700 supports 1-3 pH calibration points and 50 manually saved sets shared across pH/mV. The instrument display range is 0-14.00 pH with selectable 0.01/0.1 pH resolution and stated ±0.01 pH ±1 digit accuracy; these do not establish unrestricted probe/matrix accuracy.
M+ saves a stable result and RM recalls it. No documented USB/PC export, automatic interval recording, date/time field or certified audit trail is promised. Optional ORP needs a separate appropriate ORP electrode; the supplied pH electrode in mV mode gives its pH signal, not ORP.
Use this exact kit’s configuration and sensor guidance. Mechanical connector fit alone does not establish complete electrical, temperature or sample compatibility. The micro-volume configuration differs from the integrated-temperature kits.
This manufacturer electronics illustration refers to the PH700 instrument. Appropriate electrode selection, calibration and sample handling still govern the result. It does not establish extra logging/export features or a separately tested performance guarantee.
No. Viscosity does not establish chemical compatibility or a valid direct-measurement method. Water-based and anhydrous formulations need different consideration. Use the product’s approved procedure and confirm electrode suitability.
It describes the electrode’s sealed gel KCl reference, designed to support electrolyte outflow through the ceramic junction. It is not a pressure-vessel rating and does not mean the probe cannot foul.
No. Do not open or refill its internal reference. The 3M KCl used for storage sits outside the electrode in the vial and serves a different purpose from the sealed gel reference.
Yes. The exact PH700-VS kit manual confirms a built-in NTC temperature sensor and BNC/RCA connections. The supplied 853-H provides pH and temperature without a separate temperature accessory.
No such rating is specified for this kit. The current US PH700-VS manual lists 0-100°C for the supplied electrode. Stay within the electrode, meter and actual sample-method limits.
No universal preparation rule applies. Dilution can change the result. Follow the validated method for that formulation and identify whether the reported pH belongs to the original liquid or a prepared extract or dispersion.
Do not assume so. The manufacturer identifies other electrode families for non-aqueous solvents and aggressive chemical applications. Assess those samples separately rather than extending the viscous-liquid label to all chemistry.
Remove deposits, rinse appropriately and check that the next measurement reaches genuine stability. Follow manufacturer cleaning and conditioning instructions where needed, then recalibrate.
