A specialist bench workflow for low-ionic-strength water.
APERA INSTRUMENTS / PH700-PW / AI5015
The PH700-PW pairs a fixed bench station with the refillable LabSen 803 pH/temperature electrode. Its low-resistance membrane and movable sleeve junction address the difficult electrical conditions of pure water, where a rushed reading can undermine a careful test.
Choose AI5015 for suitable distilled, deionized, RO and other low-ionic-strength water samples. This is a sample-specific electrode choice, not a conductivity meter or a certificate of water purity. The method, handling and exposure to air remain part of the measurement.
Each card opens that product page. Different kits supply different probes and care methods. The 201T-F card is an electrode-only base-kit replacement, not an extra specialty electrode supplied with these kits.

The movable sleeve lets reference electrolyte flow into the sample through an adjustable contact. Low-ion water requires adequate outflow; follow the electrode instructions for adjustment and recalibrate afterward. The sleeve is a serviceable part, not a promise that maintenance disappears.
The L-type glass membrane has a stated resistance below 50 MΩ. Together with the silver-ion-trap reference, it is designed for this demanding water application. Sampling and air exposure still affect results.
The included 803 combines pH and an NTC 30 kΩ temperature sensor. Connect both leads for automatic compensation. Its specified working range is pH 1-11 and 0-80°C; the meter’s wider display range does not extend the electrode’s limits.
Use clean sampling equipment and a defined low-ion measurement procedure.
Compare like-for-like samples with consistent temperature, handling and exposure to air.
Assess compatibility and the actual method before treating a reading as a release criterion.
Prepare at least 250 mL of sample for the pure-water procedure in the PH700-PW manual. Calibrate with suitable fresh standards and follow the manual’s pH 4.00 conditioning and subsequent rinsing sequence. Probe size does not establish micro-volume capability.
The exact kit procedure gives a typical stabilization time of 2-5 minutes. Wait for a genuinely stable reading rather than recording at a fixed countdown. Limit air exposure before and during measurement, using a covered arrangement where practical; carbon dioxide can change low-buffering water while it sits.
Keep collection, temperature and exposure conditions consistent between tests. Do not add salts just to make an unmodified-water reading behave, or adjust the result until it reaches pH 7. Additions change the sample and belong only in a separately validated method. No covered vessel is supplied.
Open the blue fill-hole stopper for calibration and measurement, then close it for storage. The reference is refillable with 3M KCl. The electrode instructions call for replenishment when the level falls to half the electrode height; use the exact manual for handling and sleeve service.
Rinse between standards and samples without rubbing the glass membrane. If deposits remain, use contaminant-appropriate manufacturer cleaning guidance, followed by the required conditioning and recalibration. Check response and calibration behavior, not just the displayed decimal.
Store the sensing tip and junction in the tightly closed vial with the specified 3M KCl solution. Distilled, DI and RO water are useful for rinsing, not storage. Keep connectors clean and dry. A storage vial is not a separately supplied retail bottle of refill or storage solution.
PH700 supports 1-3 pH calibration points and 50 manually saved sets shared across pH/mV. The instrument display range is 0-14.00 pH with selectable 0.01/0.1 pH resolution and stated ±0.01 pH ±1 digit accuracy; these do not establish unrestricted probe/matrix accuracy.
M+ saves a stable result and RM recalls it. No documented USB/PC export, automatic interval recording, date/time field or certified audit trail is promised. Optional ORP needs a separate appropriate ORP electrode; the supplied pH electrode in mV mode gives its pH signal, not ORP.
Use this exact kit’s configuration and sensor guidance. Mechanical connector fit alone does not establish complete electrical, temperature or sample compatibility. The micro-volume configuration differs from the integrated-temperature kits.
This manufacturer electronics illustration refers to the PH700 instrument. Appropriate electrode selection, calibration and sample handling still govern the result. It does not establish extra logging/export features or a separately tested performance guarantee.
Low ionic strength can make junction potentials and electrical response difficult to stabilize. The 803’s low-resistance membrane and flowing sleeve junction address that application, but careful sampling and calibration are still necessary.
No. Temperature, dissolved carbon dioxide and trace contamination affect the measured sample. pH 7 is not a universal acceptance target for every distilled, DI or RO sample, and a pH reading alone does not prove purity or safety.
The exact PH700-PW manual specifies at least 250 mL for its pure-water procedure. Do not infer micro-volume capability from the probe diameter or use a smaller aliquot without a validated alternative method.
No. The kit-specific pure-water instructions say stabilization typically takes 2-5 minutes. Actual behavior depends on the sample and handling, and prolonged air exposure can itself change pH.
No. The included LabSen 803 has integrated temperature sensing. Its blue BNC lead carries pH and the black RCA lead connects to TEMP for automatic compensation.
Yes, its reference reservoir uses 3M KCl. This differs from sealed gel-reference electrodes. Follow the electrode manual and recalibrate whenever the sleeve tightness is adjusted.
No. AI5015 includes LabSen 803. It does not include an 813, a flow cell or a dedicated ultrapure-water validation system. Choose by the required method.
The confirmed kit includes the meter, one 803, three buffers, one holder, adapter and manual. Beakers, stirrers, closed sampling equipment and separate cleaning or KCl bottles are not promised.
