Glass-Like Surfaces, Plastic Convenience

When your samples are in organic solvent, ordinary polypropylene can leach plasticizers and other extractables into them. These ILP plates carry a thin quartz-glass (SiO2) coating inside every well, so samples touch a glass-like surface while the plate keeps the light weight, toughness, and SBS footprint of plastic.

Choose your plate format in the menu: shallow or deep 96-well round, 96-well square, or 384-well square. Every plate matches the dimensions of a standard ILP plate, so it drops into the same autosamplers, racks, and liquid handlers.

Each glass-coated plate is the coated version of a standard ILP plate. If you already run the uncoated plate, the coated one uses the same deck positions, and the same sealing mats should fit.

Uncoated versions: 96-well 0.3–0.5 mL storage plates, 96-well 1 mL deep-well plates, 96-well 2 mL deep-well plates, and 384-well deep-well plates.

Are these a good alternative to Thermo Scientific™ WebSeal Plate+ glass-coated plates?

Yes, for most applications. They are polypropylene plates with an SiO2 glass well coating in 96- and 384-well formats, U- and V-bottom, with a standard SBS footprint. Confirm dimensions against your instrument before switching. Thermo Scientific™ and WebSeal Plate+ are trademarks of their respective owners; Blue Tiger Scientific is not affiliated.

What is the coating?

A thin layer of silicon dioxide (quartz glass) on the well surfaces. It gives the wells properties similar to glass while the plate body stays polypropylene.

Why use a glass-coated plate instead of a standard plate?

The coating reduces extractables and leachables and slows oxygen transmission, which matters for solvent-based samples and sensitive LC-MS or GC-MS work.

What temperatures can they handle?

They are chemically and thermally stable from −80 °C to 80 °C.
