A 96-well, 1 mL-class deep-well plate is the everyday plate for sample prep and storage: nucleic acid extraction, compound libraries, small cultures, and liquid handling. At 24 to 45 mm tall, the height matters as much as the volume, because the plate has to fit your robot, stacker, and centrifuge.

Pick your plate in the first menu, by well shape, bottom, and height, then choose your version in the second: MTC Bio OptiWell™ or ILP, sterile or non-sterile. Two Lines, One Format

MTC Bio makes 1 mL-class deep-well plates under two lines. OptiWell™ is MTC Bio's own line, with printed black alphanumerics and sterile versions of every plate. ILP, now part of MTC Bio, makes plates of the same format that are often priced lower per case.

Because many labs have a specific catalog number written into an SOP or purchase order, we carry both. Select your plate, then switch between versions in the second menu to see each price and catalog number before you add to cart.

Check the Pack Size

Most plates here ship 50 per case, but a few ship 100. The 1.0 mL square U-bottom and the 1.2 mL square V-bottom plates come 100 per case, which is why their case price is higher. Those plates are marked "100/cs" in the first menu.

The sterile ILP 1.2 mL V-bottom plate is also available individually wrapped, 20 per case, for labs that open one plate at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these a good alternative to Corning® Axygen® or Thermo Scientific™ Nunc™ 1 mL deep-well plates?

Yes, for most applications. They are 96-well, 1 mL-class deep-well plates in square and round wells, U-, V-, and flat-bottom, sterile or non-sterile, with a standard ANSI/SLAS footprint. Confirm height and footprint for automated systems before switching. Corning®, Axygen®, Thermo Scientific™, Nunc™, and Abgene™ are trademarks of their respective owners; Blue Tiger Scientific is not affiliated.

What is the difference between OptiWell™ and ILP?

Both are MTC Bio lines. OptiWell™ plates have black printed alphanumerics and come sterile in every format. ILP plates, from Innovative Laboratory Products (now part of MTC Bio), cover many of the same formats and are often lower in price. Choose the one that matches your protocol or budget.

Why do some plates cost more per case?

Pack size. The 1.0 mL square U-bottom and 1.2 mL square V-bottom plates ship 100 per case; most others ship 50. The pack size is shown in the plate name and in the Ordering Information table.

Why do some rated volumes differ between versions?

Manufacturers rate capacity differently. For example, the ILP DP17US-9 is rated 1.5 mL and the OptiWell™ D3096-31 is rated 1.6 mL at the same 31.6 mm height. Use the height and well shape to match your equipment.

How do I choose between the plates?

Start with the height your instrument accepts, then well shape (square for more volume, round for pipetting and round-well mats), then bottom (U for mixing, V for recovering small volumes).

Can I centrifuge these plates?

Yes. OptiWell™ deep-well plates are rated up to 4,000 × g.

    At Blue Tiger Scientific, we proudly distribute authentic MTC Bio products. The following policies apply to all purchases made through our store. All return requests must be initiated with Blue Tiger Scientific before being processed by MTC Bio.

    Shipping Policy

    Orders for MTC Bio products are fulfilled and shipped directly by MTC Bio using FedEx or UPS, with FedEx Ground as the default shipping method unless otherwise specified.

    • Expedited shipping options (2-Day, Overnight) are available at an additional cost.
    • MTC Bio only ships to residential or business addresses within the United States—no PO Boxes.
    • Orders placed after business hours, weekends, or holidays will be processed the next business day, pending product and carrier availability.
    • Shipping timelines may vary based on product availability, order size, and carrier logistics.
    • Blue Tiger Scientific and MTC Bio are not responsible for carrier delays, weather-related disruptions, or unforeseen delivery issues once the order has shipped.

    Return Policy

    If a return is necessary, customers must start the process with Blue Tiger Scientific before returning any products to MTC Bio.

    • All return requests must be initiated with Blue Tiger Scientific before shipping a product back to MTC Bio.
    • Customers must obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number from Blue Tiger Scientific before returning any item.
    • Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless otherwise stated.
    • Opened or used products cannot be returned—only unused items in original packaging will be accepted.
    • Unauthorized returns (without an RMA) will be refused and returned at the customer’s expense.
    • Returned items are subject to inspection, and a 20% restocking fee may be applied.
    • Refunds will cover the product cost only—shipping fees paid at the time of purchase are non-refundable.
    • Certain items, such as custom-built, special-order, or hazardous materials, may not be eligible for return.
