APERA INSTRUMENTS / EC60-E / AI1209

A new conductivity probe for your pocket tester.

Apera EC60-E replaces the conductivity probe on EC60 and can be used on PC60 for conductivity measurements. Its brush-resistant platinum-black sensor and built-in temperature sensor support conductivity, with TDS and salinity calculated by the host. It is designed for regular aqueous samples—not for pH measurement.

This page supplies one EC60-E replacement probe (AI1209), not a complete tester. Apera’s probe warranty is six months from delivery.

Check the tester and measurement role.

Replacement probe Fit and sensing role
EC60-E · AI1209 Fits EC60 and PC60 for conductivity/temperature. Platinum black, K=1, 30 kΩ thermistor; no pH sensing element.

EC60-E fits EC60 and PC60. The regional EC60-E sheet also names EC5 and PC5. On PC60 this conductivity-only probe does not retain pH measurement; choose PC60-E for the combined role.

See Alternative format: EC60-DE for the separately sold format documented for EC60-Z and PC60-Z, with model-specific Premium support. DE compatibility does not establish E compatibility with ZenTest bodies.

What makes it work.

Platinum-black sensor

Apera’s brush-resistant platinum-black sensor is designed for conductivity measurement over the 0–20 mS/cm probe range.

Integrated temperature sensing

The 30 kΩ thermistor supplies temperature sensing for compatible host operation. Compensation settings remain host-dependent.

EC, TDS and salinity

TDS and salinity are derived from conductivity by the host tester. A replacement probe does not add unsupported display modes or pH measurement.

Check the specifications.

EC60-E specifies 0–20 mS/cm, K=1, a platinum-black conductivity sensor, a 30 kΩ thermistor and 0–50°C operation. Use the host’s supported units, temperature compensation and calibration procedure.

See the Product Specifications tab for the exact-model specifications and ordering information.

Care and storage.

Rinse away sample residues after use. For EC60-E on EC60, the regional EC60 host manual specifies some distilled or tap water in the cap for storage. This conductivity-only storage routine must not be copied to pH-only or PC60-E combination probes.

If contaminated, the EC60 host manual permits a soft brush and soapy water, followed by rinsing. Do not rub or polish the black pins: this can peel off the platinum-black coating. Keep electrical contacts dry. The EC60-E sheet requires at least two-point calibration after installation.

Related items.

Use 1413 µS/cm and 12.88 mS/cm conductivity standards as directed by the supported host’s two-point calibration procedure.

EC60-E buyer questions

Which testers support EC60-E?

Apera’s product page lists EC60 and PC60. The regional exact-probe instruction sheet additionally names EC5 and PC5; this is a specific model list, not a general Series 60 or ZenTest interchangeability claim.

Will EC60-E keep pH measurement on PC60?

No. EC60-E is a conductivity/temperature probe. Use PC60-E if you need pH and conductivity from the same installed probe.

What sensor and cell constant does it use?

It uses a brush-resistant platinum-black conductivity sensor with K=1 and a built-in 30 kΩ thermistor.

What are the conductivity and temperature limits?

The exact EC60-E sheet specifies 0–20 mS/cm and 0–50°C operation. The host determines system accuracy, units and compensation settings.

Does this probe add resistivity or new meter functions?

No. TDS/salinity calculations and other display modes belong to the host. Installing EC60-E does not add pH or unsupported functions.

How do I fit and calibrate it?

Remove the cap, unscrew the probe ring, unplug the old probe, align and seat the replacement, then tighten the ring. Keep the electrical contacts clean and dry. The EC60-E instruction sheet requires at least two-point calibration after replacement, using the supported host’s standards and procedure.

How do I protect the platinum-black coating?

Rinse after use. The EC60 host manual allows a soft brush and soapy water for contamination, but says not to rub the black pins because the platinum-black coating can peel off.

How is EC60-E stored on EC60?

The regional EC60 host manual specifies some distilled or tap water in the cap for this conductivity-only probe. This is not pH-probe storage advice and must not be applied to the PC60-E combination sensor.

Confirm your model before ordering.
