1413 µS/cm conductivity standard.
APERA INSTRUMENTS / CONDUCTIVITY STANDARD / AI1130-S / AI1130 / AI1130-L
Apera’s 1413 µS/cm standard is the most widely used conductivity calibration point, suited to all types of conductivity meters for general water, hydroponic, environmental and laboratory work. It is standardized against NIST certified references at 25°C (77°F).
Conductivity changes with temperature, so the bottle label carries a temperature-to-conductivity reference table. Meters with automatic temperature compensation correct for it; without ATC, read the label value at your solution temperature. Choose a 4 oz, 8 oz or 16 oz bottle from the size menu.
Calibrate with the standard closest to the conductivity of your samples. Each card opens that standard, in 4, 8 or 16 oz.
AI1132-S / AI1132 / AI1132-L
Low range
±1 µS/cm. For low-conductivity water and the bottom of the range.
AI1130-S / AI1130 / AI1130-L
General range
The most common conductivity calibration point.
AI1131-S / AI1131 / AI1131-L
High range
For brackish water, nutrient concentrates and other high-conductivity samples.
AI1134-S / AI1134 / AI1134-L
Very high range
±0.4 mS/cm. For brines, seawater concentrates and the top of the range.
A conductivity meter is most accurate near the point it was calibrated. Use 1413 µS/cm when your samples sit in this part of the range, and check the reading against a second standard if your samples span a wide range.
Rinse the probe with deionized water, then with a little of the standard, before calibrating in fresh standard. Pour what you need into a clean cup, close the bottle straight away, and never pour used standard back.
All three sizes carry the same 1413 µS/cm standard. Apera gives a one-year shelf life, with the expiration date printed on every bottle. Store it at room temperature away from direct sunlight and keep the cap tight.
Conductivity rises with temperature. Calibrate with automatic temperature compensation on, or read the reference value for your temperature from the bottle label.
Apera provides a certificate of analysis by request, and an MSDS is available.
For pH and conductivity together, see the AI1105 four-solution kit or AI1112 six-solution kit. Clean fouled probes with Apera electrode cleaning solution.
