APERA INSTRUMENTS / PH800 / AI521
PH800 pairs a 0.01 pH-resolution benchtop meter with the 201T-F pH/temperature electrode, a flexible holder and starter buffers. It suits routine measurements in compatible general water solutions, with calibration guidance, electrode-slope feedback and timestamped storage to support a repeatable daily method.
Choose PH800 for routine aqueous pH work that benefits from a fixed bench setup, integrated temperature sensing and saved readings. It is a pH/mV instrument, not a conductivity or dissolved-oxygen meter.
Each card opens that model page. Match the supplied electrode and documented sample method. Different configurations are not interchangeable upgrades, and optional accessories are not supplied unless the exact kit contents say so.

The supplied 201T-F contains both the pH sensing system and a temperature sensor. Its blue BNC connector carries pH; the black RCA plug carries temperature. Connecting both enables automatic temperature compensation. This is not the separate LabSen 211 plus MP500 arrangement supplied with PH820.
PH800 supports one to three automatic calibration points. USA and NIST buffer series are selectable, and the screen indicates recognized buffers and completed calibration ranges. Recognizing several buffer values does not make this a five-point calibration instrument. Electrode slope provides useful diagnostic context rather than a blanket guarantee of sample accuracy.
The backlit display presents pH and temperature together. A stable-reading icon helps identify when to record a result, while HOLD indicates the optional auto-lock mode. M+ and RM distinguish saving from recalling data. Check ATC or MTC before a run so that an unplugged temperature connector does not silently change your method.
The 201T-F uses a polycarbonate body, lithium-glass sensing membrane and non-refillable gel reference. Its protective shield helps guard the bulb but does not make glass unbreakable. The current kit description calls the junction dual ceramic-fiber, while the electrode manual calls it single fiber ceramic; confirm construction if that distinction is critical.
The current 201T-F probe page specifies 0 to 13 pH and 0 to 60°C, while its linked manual lists 0 to 14 pH and 0 to 80°C. Use the narrower published probe limits until the supplied revision is confirmed. The manual cautions against prolonged testing above 50°C.
A useful station for repeated checks of compatible process-water samples, prepared aqueous solutions and laboratory rinses where a defined sampling method is available. Keep sample identity, temperature and calibration records together when comparing results across shifts.
The visible calibration and stability indicators help demonstrate the difference between an apparent reading and a settled measurement. A fixed holder also makes immersion depth and handling easier to repeat without treating the electrode as a stirring rod.
The 201T-F manual cautions against extended hot testing above 50°C, frequent strong acid or alkaline exposure, low-ionic-strength water and liquids that attack polycarbonate. Pure water, viscous foods, solvents and solids require a specifically selected sensor and validated method, not simply a different meter setting.
Secure the flexible holder on a stable bench, connect the supplied power adapter, and attach both electrode plugs. Loosen the storage-bottle cap before removing the electrode. Inspect the sensing end and shield, rinse with purified water and remove excess water gently. The 201T-F manual calls for a three-point calibration after fitting a new electrode.
Use fresh portions of appropriate buffer in clean vessels, not the stock bottles. Rinse between solutions, remove excess rinse water without rubbing the sensing glass, and allow the electrode and solution to reach a stable temperature. A buffer’s actual pH changes with temperature; select the correct buffer series rather than treating every bottle labelled neutral as interchangeable.
For the standard three-point routine, begin with pH 7.00 and proceed through the appropriate acidic and alkaline buffers, normally 4.00 and 10.01. Wait for recognition and stability before confirming each point. Investigate a calibration error or poor slope rather than repeatedly accepting it. Use buffers that bracket the expected sample range when possible.
Immerse the sensing end and junction adequately in the sample, move gently to release trapped air, then allow the reading to settle. Record temperature with pH. Automatic compensation corrects electrode response to temperature; it does not convert the sample’s chemistry to an assumed pH at another temperature. Keep calibration and sample temperatures reasonably close.
Rinse before and after each measurement. Do not rub the glass membrane to dry it. Clean deposits with a method suitable for the contaminant and the electrode’s materials, following the exact probe manual. If response becomes slow or calibration cannot be reproduced, clean, condition and recalibrate before deciding whether replacement is needed.
The 201T-F gel reference is not user-refillable. Store its sensing end in Apera 3M KCl storage solution, AI1107, in the storage bottle; replace contaminated solution. Do not use distilled, deionized, RO or tap water for storage. Rinse water is for cleaning between readings, not for long-term soaking.
Keep BNC and RCA connections clean and dry. IP54 describes splash and dust protection, not an immersible instrument. Keep the meter and adapter clear of spills, and turn the meter off before disconnecting power. Glass electrodes age even when maintained correctly; no fixed service life is promised.
Use the physical controls for measurement, calibration and the documented record functions. Check units, temperature, calibration indicators and the selected parameter before assigning a result to a sample. Screen values in photographs are illustrative, not sample results. The model-specific record and output workflow is explained below.
Use calibration solutions and settings appropriate to the parameter and fitted electrode. Temperature compensation does not make different sample temperatures, preparation methods or chemistry equivalent. Follow the model-specific meter and electrode instructions before extending the method to a new sample.
PH800’s current kit page and linked manual agree on 500 stored groups. The manual lists record number, date, time, measurement, unit and temperature, with manual saving and timed storage. Check the internal clock before a batch. Export records before clearing memory and preserve sample identifiers in your own laboratory record.
The linked instrument manual documents a legacy Windows PC-Link program, USB driver and COM-port workflow, with export to an Excel file. The current US kit page also advertises browser-based PC-Link. These are different software generations: confirm support for the delivered meter revision, operating system, browser and required export fields before committing to a computer workflow. No software installation or runtime compatibility test is implied here.
The current page additionally describes calibration date, slope, offset and serial-number reporting. Treat these as revision-dependent software fields, not as proof that every older unit stores them in every record. In the legacy manual’s connected real-time mode, readings go to the PC rather than remaining in meter memory. Plan record retention accordingly.
Alternative format: Apera PH950 Benchtop pH Meter Kit with LabSen 211 and 606 TestBench. The linked TestBench model has a different bench arrangement, record workflow and kit specification. Compare the exact supplied electrode, accessories and data features rather than assuming similar model names mean identical hardware or software.
No. The supplied 201T-F combines pH and temperature in one body, with separate BNC and RCA plugs. A separate temperature probe may be needed if you later choose a pH-only replacement electrode.
No. PH800 measures pH, mV and temperature. The shared series manual also covers conductivity models, but their EC, TDS, salinity and resistivity functions do not belong to PH800.
No. PH800 supports one to three automatic calibration points. The list of recognized USA buffer values describes buffer recognition, not the number of points stored in one calibration.
The instrument display and compensation limits remain separate specifications.
No. The manual describes legacy Windows PC-Link; the current page describes a browser-based option. Confirm meter revision and current host requirements. Computer hardware is not included.
No. The mV mode can be used for ORP with an appropriate separately purchased electrode. The included 201T-F is a pH/temperature electrode, not an ORP sensor.
No. The 201T-F has a gel reference. Maintain external storage solution in its bottle, but do not attempt to refill the electrode body.
