APERA INSTRUMENTS / LABSEN 881 / AI3149

pH down to −25°C.

LabSen 881 is a refillable glass pH electrode made for low-temperature solutions, rated from −25 to 80°C. Its special L-type low-resistance conical membrane keeps the response fast in the cold, and its Protelyte reference electrolyte remains usable down to −25°C. It has a BNC connector.

It reads pH 1 to 11 from −25 to 80°C. Catalog AI3149. Apera warrants LabSen electrodes for six months from delivery.

Check the connector.

LabSen 881 uses a BNC pH connection and has no built-in temperature sensor. Its −25–80°C rating is an electrode rating, not a promise that the connected meter or temperature probe covers that range. Apera’s MP500 is rated only −10–110°C and cannot cover the 881’s −25°C endpoint. For colder samples, verify a compatible temperature sensor and the host’s ATC range for the actual temperature, or use an independently measured temperature only where the host explicitly supports manual compensation at that temperature. Manual entry does not override a host limit; no replacement sensor is implied.

What makes it work.

L-type conical membrane

Special low-resistance glass for low-temperature testing, with fast response.

Protelyte reference electrolyte

Usable down to −25°C, where an aqueous KCl reference would struggle.

Silver ion trap + triple ceramic

The silver ion trap reference system with Protelyte reduces junction clogs.

Check the specifications.

Key figures: pH range 1–11; temperature range −25–80°C; body lead-free glass; glass membrane L-type, conical; junction ceramic × 3; reference electrolyte Protelyte.

Store it wet.
Keep it clean.

Keep the electrode wet in Apera Protelyte storage solution when it is not in use.

Never store a pH electrode in pure, deionized or distilled water.

It is refillable: keep the fill hole open while measuring and top up the reference electrolyte when the level drops.

Rinse with distilled or deionized water between samples. For stubborn deposits, use Apera electrode cleaning solution, then recondition and recalibrate.

Calibrate with fresh pH 7.00, pH 4.00 and pH 10.01 buffers.

LabSen 881 buyer questions

What is the LabSen 881 made for?

LabSen 881 is a refillable glass pH electrode made for low-temperature solutions, rated from −25 to 80°C.

Is it refillable?

Yes. Refill LabSen 881 with Protelyte and keep its fill hole open during measurement. Protelyte is also the specified storage and reconditioning solution; do not substitute generic 3M KCl care instructions.

How should I store it?

Keep the electrode wet in Apera Protelyte storage solution when it is not in use. Never use pure, deionized or distilled water.

Can an Apera MP500 measure the full LabSen 881 temperature range?

No. LabSen 881 (AI3149; BTS-AI3149) is rated −25–80°C, but MP500 is rated only −10–110°C. MP500 is not a full-range temperature solution for this electrode’s cold endpoint.

Will manual temperature entry let any BNC meter work at −25°C?

No. Check the host’s supported manual-compensation range and operating limits. A BNC pH connection alone does not establish low-temperature ATC or MTC support; the method must use a valid sample temperature within the host’s limits.

What pH range and sensing design does LabSen 881 use?

The current US specification is pH 1–11 with an L-type conical membrane, impedance below 50 MΩ, triple ceramic junctions and a silver ion trap reference system. The listed body size is Ø12 × 120 mm.

Why does the European LabSen 881 manual mention −30°C?

That is a regional-document rating. This US-market offer retains the narrower −25–80°C range and pH 1–11 from the current US page; the linked English manual is useful for care, not permission to expand the supplied electrode or host rating.

What warranty applies?

Apera warrants LabSen electrodes against defects in material and workmanship for six months from delivery. Accidental damage, improper use and normal wear are excluded.

Confirm the exact configuration before ordering.

Check the connector and catalog number (AI3149) against your meter and samples, then return to the live price and ordering controls.

    Warranty Information

APERA INSTRUMENTS, LLC warrants LabSen electrodes to be free from defects in material and workmanship for SIX MONTHS from the delivery.

This limited warranty does NOT cover accidental damage, improper use, normal wear and tear, transportation, storage, failure to follow the product instructions, unauthorized maintenance, modification or repair, or external causes beyond Apera's reasonable control.

    LabSen 881 documentation

Official Apera PDF documents, with model and regional scope stated on each card. Each whole card opens its PDF in a new tab.

Document scope and limits. This exact-model English manual is published by Apera Europe. It is useful for Protelyte refill, storage and maintenance, but its −30°C regional rating does not expand this US-market offer’s −25–80°C rating or the host’s ATC/MTC range. MP500 remains limited to −10–110°C.
