APERA INSTRUMENTS / LABSEN 231 / AI3111

Glass-body pH for dirty samples.
No refilling.

LabSen 231 is a non-refillable glass-body pH electrode for wastewater, suspensions, emulsions and other complex solutions that tend to clog the junction of a regular electrode. It combines an open junction with polymer electrolyte and connects to any pH meter with a BNC input.

It reads pH 0 to 14; use 0 to 80°C as the provisional common operating envelope pending manufacturer clarification. Catalog AI3111. Apera warrants LabSen electrodes for six months from delivery.

Check the connector.

It plugs into any pH meter with a BNC input. It has no temperature sensor, so pair it with a separate temperature probe such as Apera’s MP500 where compatible with the meter, for automatic temperature compensation; manual temperature entry is an option only if the meter supports it at the sample temperature. Electrode ratings do not extend the meter’s or separate temperature probe’s operating or compensation limits.

What makes it work.

Open junction + polymer electrolyte

No ceramic pores for solids and oils to block, and no electrolyte to refill.

S-type hemispherical membrane

Low resistance and high firmness; Apera states stable readings in 15–30 seconds.

Long-Life reference system

Glass-tube Ag/AgCl reference for stability and service life, with blue gel inner electrolyte.

Check the specifications.

Key figures: pH range 0–14; temperature range 0–80°C (provisional common operating envelope); body lead-free glass; glass membrane S-type, half-ball; junction open; reference electrolyte polymer.

The full specification table is in the Product Specifications tab.

Temperature-source notice: Apera’s current US LabSen 231 page lists 0–100°C, but its linked v2.0 manual specifies −5–80°C. This offer is conservatively limited to their common 0–80°C interval. Do not use the page’s 100°C limit or the manual’s −5°C minimum without written confirmation for the supplied revision.

Store it wet.
Keep it clean.

Keep the tip in its cap with 3M KCl storage solution whenever it is not measuring.

Never store a pH electrode in pure, deionized or distilled water.

It is sealed and needs no refilling.

Apera’s manual advises avoiding strong acid and strong alkali solutions and dehydrating media such as absolute ethanol or concentrated sulfuric acid; if exposure is unavoidable, keep immersion short and clean the electrode carefully afterward.

Rinse with distilled or deionized water between samples. For stubborn deposits, use Apera electrode cleaning solution, then recondition and recalibrate.

Calibrate with fresh pH 7.00, pH 4.00 and pH 10.01 buffers.

LabSen 231 buyer questions

What is the LabSen 231 made for?

LabSen 231 is a non-refillable glass-body pH electrode for wastewater, suspensions, emulsions and other complex solutions that tend to clog the junction of a regular electrode.

Is it refillable?

No; it is sealed and needs no refilling.

How should I store it?

Keep the tip in its cap with 3M KCl storage solution whenever it is not measuring. Never use pure, deionized or distilled water.

Can LabSen 231 be used at 100°C?

Not on the basis of the conflicting documents alone. The current US page says 0–100°C, while the exact v2.0 manual says −5–80°C. Use only the common 0–80°C envelope until Apera confirms the supplied revision.

Does LabSen 231 provide temperature compensation?

LabSen 231 (AI3111; BTS-AI3111) is BNC and has no temperature sensor. ATC needs a compatible separate sensor and meter; manual entry is usable only within the host’s supported compensation range.

Why use an open junction for wastewater?

The LabSen 231 combines an open junction with polymer electrolyte to reduce the clogging associated with dirty samples. The polymer reference is sealed and non-refillable; it still needs cleaning and wet storage.

Can I leave LabSen 231 in strong acids, alkalis or solvents?

The exact manual advises avoiding strong acids, strong alkalis and dehydrating media such as absolute ethanol or concentrated sulfuric acid. If exposure is unavoidable, keep it brief and clean carefully afterward; this is not a chemical-resistance guarantee.

What warranty applies?

Apera warrants LabSen electrodes against defects in material and workmanship for six months from delivery. Accidental damage, improper use and normal wear are excluded.

Confirm the exact configuration before ordering.

Check the connector and catalog number (AI3111) against your meter and samples, then return to the live price and ordering controls.
