A Plate That Stays Flat, So Every Well Performs Alike
Ordinary one-piece polypropylene plates soften and warp in the heat of a thermal cycler. A warped plate lifts away from the heated lid at the edges, outer wells lose volume to evaporation, and amplification drifts across the plate.
SureFrame™ plates are molded from two materials. An ultra-rigid polycarbonate frame holds everything flat and square, while thin-walled polypropylene wells keep the fast, even heat transfer PCR depends on. The result is more uniform data from edge to center, and a plate that robot grippers can handle reliably, run after run.

Why Two Materials Beat One
Polypropylene is the right material for PCR wells: it is inert, thin-walled, and conducts heat well. But on its own it is soft at cycling temperatures, so a one-piece plate can bow and twist.
Polycarbonate is far stiffer. SureFrame™ combines the two, putting polycarbonate where rigidity matters and polypropylene where the sample sits. You get the thermal performance of a standard plate with a frame that holds its shape, which is why SureFrame™ is a strong choice for robotic workflows and long qPCR runs.
384-Well SureFrame™ for High Throughput
At 384-well density, flatness matters even more. Tiny 35 µL reaction volumes leave little margin for evaporation, and plate handlers need a rigid, predictable footprint.
P9384-FSC and P9384-FSW give you a full-skirted, two-component 384-well plate in clear or white. For standard single-material plates, see our 384-well PCR plates.

Tip for Uniform Results
A rigid plate only helps if the seal is even. Apply sealing film with firm pressure across every well and around the frame edge, and use an optically clear sealing film for qPCR. For standard single-material plates, see our 0.1 mL low-profile and 0.2 mL 96-well plates.

Are SureFrame™ plates a good alternative to Bio-Rad® Hard-Shell® or Thermo Scientific™ Armadillo plates?
Yes, for most applications. Like those plates, SureFrame™ uses a two-component design with a rigid polycarbonate frame and thin-walled polypropylene wells, in 96-well low-profile, 96-well standard, and 384-well formats. Confirm the format your instrument accepts before ordering. What does two-component mean?
The plate is molded from two materials: a rigid polycarbonate frame and polypropylene wells. The frame keeps the plate flat, and the wells give fast, even heat transfer.
Why does plate warping matter?
A warped plate does not seal evenly against the heated lid. Outer wells then lose more volume to evaporation, which leads to inconsistent amplification across the plate.
