Flat-Bottom Assay Plates in Clear, Black, and White

The plate color matters as much as the chemistry. Clear wells let light through for absorbance and colorimetric reads, black wells quench stray light for fluorescence, and white wells reflect signal back to the detector for luminescence.

Pick your plate in the first menu, 96-well or 384-well, or a matching lid, then choose color and packaging in the second: non-sterile by the case, or sterile and individually wrapped. These ILP polystyrene plates have a standard SBS footprint and molded alphanumerics.

384-Well Plates for High-Throughput Screening

The 384-well plates put four times the samples on the same footprint, with 110 µL square wells that cut reagent use in screening assays. Rounded well corners help prevent the capillary wicking that can happen in sharp-cornered wells.

Sterile 384-well plates come individually wrapped with a clear polystyrene lid, 40 per case, ready for single-plate use.

A clear polystyrene lid keeps dust out and slows evaporation between steps, while letting you see the plate.

Choose a universal-fit lid, or an H1 corner-notch lid that only seats one way, so the lid always goes back in the same orientation and wells are not cross-contaminated. Notched lids also come individually wrapped.

Tip for Lower Background

Match the plate to the read: a white plate in a fluorescence assay or a clear plate in a luminescence assay can raise background and crosstalk. Frequently Asked Questions

Are these a good alternative to Corning® Costar® or Greiner Bio-One assay plates?

Yes, for most non-tissue-culture applications. They are 96- and 384-well flat-bottom polystyrene plates in clear, black, and white, sterile or non-sterile, with a standard SBS footprint. Confirm your reader settings before switching. Corning®, Costar®, and Greiner Bio-One are trademarks of their respective owners; Blue Tiger Scientific is not affiliated.

Which color should I use?

Clear for absorbance and colorimetric assays, black for fluorescence, and white for luminescence.

Are these plates tissue-culture treated?

No. They are non-treated polystyrene for general assays, microbiology, and serology. For adherent cell culture, use a tissue-culture-treated plate.

Can I centrifuge or autoclave them?

They can be centrifuged up to 2,000 × g. They are polystyrene and are not autoclavable; use them from −40 °C to 70 °C.

Do the sterile plates include a lid?

The sterile black and white 96-well plates and all sterile 384-well plates are individually wrapped with a lid. Lids are also sold separately, universal fit or H1 notched.

What does the H1 notch do?

An H1-notched lid fits only one way, so it always returns to the plate in the same orientation, which helps prevent cross-contamination between wells.

Shipping Policy

Orders for MTC Bio products are fulfilled and shipped directly by MTC Bio using FedEx or UPS, with FedEx Ground as the default shipping method unless otherwise specified.

Expedited shipping options (2-Day, Overnight) are available at an additional cost.
MTC Bio only ships to residential or business addresses within the United States—no PO Boxes.
Orders placed after business hours, weekends, or holidays will be processed the next business day, pending product and carrier availability.
Shipping timelines may vary based on product availability, order size, and carrier logistics.
Blue Tiger Scientific and MTC Bio are not responsible for carrier delays, weather-related disruptions, or unforeseen delivery issues once the order has shipped.

Return Policy

If a return is necessary, customers must start the process with Blue Tiger Scientific before returning any products to MTC Bio.

All return requests must be initiated with Blue Tiger Scientific before shipping a product back to MTC Bio.
Customers must obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number from Blue Tiger Scientific before returning any item.
Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless otherwise stated.
Opened or used products cannot be returned—only unused items in original packaging will be accepted.
Unauthorized returns (without an RMA) will be refused and returned at the customer’s expense.
