A 96-well, 2 mL deep-well plate is the workhorse of sample prep: bacterial cultures, nucleic acid extraction, compound storage, and liquid handling all run through it. The wrong plate, though, means it will not sit in your robot, a well that will not drain, or a mat that will not seal.
Pick your plate in the first menu, square or round, U- or V-bottom, by height, then choose your version in the second: MTC Bio OptiWell™ or ILP, sterile or non-sterile. The price updates with every choice, so you can compare equivalent plates side by side and order the exact catalog number your protocol calls for.

OptiWell™ plates are rated for pelleting cultures and clearing lysates.
Clean by Design
Made in a Class 100,000 cleanroom; certified RNase/DNase-free and non-pyrogenic.
Sterile Options
Gamma-irradiated per ISO 13485 when you need sterile culture or cell work.
Black Alphanumerics
Printed OptiWell™ grids are easy to read on a busy bench.
Autoclavable
Virgin, medical-grade polypropylene handles autoclave cycles.
Square Wells
Plates: Standard, H-Style, and V-bottom square
Best for: Maximum volume and vigorous mixing
Note: Square walls create baffling for better aeration in cultures
Round Wells
Plates: 2.0 mL U-bottom round
Best for: Pipetting, resuspension, and sealing with round-well mats
Note: Pick the Nunc™ or Hamilton® version to match your deck
U-Bottom vs. V-Bottom
U-bottom: Easier mixing and resuspension
V-bottom: Collects small volumes to a point for full recovery
Tip: Choose V for low-volume elution or pelleting
OptiWell™ vs. ILP
OptiWell™: MTC Bio line, black printed grid, sterile on every format
ILP: Now part of MTC Bio, often a lower price per case
Tip: Match the catalog number your protocol specifies

MTC Bio makes 2 mL deep-well plates under two lines. OptiWell™ is MTC Bio's own line, with printed black alphanumerics and sterile versions of every plate. ILP, now part of MTC Bio, makes plates of the same format that are often priced lower per case.
Because many labs have a specific catalog number written into an SOP or purchase order, we carry both. Select your plate, then switch between versions in the second menu to see each price and catalog number before you add to cart.

Round-well 2.0 mL plates come in deck-specific versions. D3096-35 is built for Nunc™-format workflows and D3096-37 for Hamilton® systems, both 44.3 mm tall. The ILP DP2M-RD-96 is a 45.3 mm round-well plate for general use.
Always confirm plate height and footprint against your instrument or deck layout before switching plate brands.
Fill wells to no more than about half their volume for shaking cultures, and cover with a breathable seal or a loosely seated mat so cells get oxygen. For storage, seal with a silicone sealing mat or an adhesive film; see our plate sealing films and foils. For solvent or LC-MS work, the 2.0 mL round and square formats also come as glass-coated plates.
Yes, for most applications. They are 96-well, 2 mL-class deep-well plates in square and round wells, U- and V-bottom, sterile or non-sterile, with a standard ANSI/SLAS footprint. Confirm height and footprint for automated systems before switching. Corning®, Axygen®, Thermo Scientific™, Nunc™, and Hamilton® are trademarks of their respective owners; Blue Tiger Scientific is not affiliated.
Both are MTC Bio lines. OptiWell™ plates have black printed alphanumerics and come sterile in every format. ILP plates, from Innovative Laboratory Products (now part of MTC Bio), cover the same formats and are often lower in price. Choose the one that matches your protocol or budget.
Start with well shape (square for maximum volume and mixing, round for pipetting and round-well mats), then bottom (U for mixing, V for full recovery of small volumes), then height to match your instrument.
Manufacturers rate capacity differently. For example, DP21US-9 is rated 2.0 mL and D3096-41 is rated 2.2 mL at the same 41.6 mm height. Use the height and well shape to match your equipment.
