MAJOR SCIENCE · MJ-105A
Build your mini-gel workflow around the MJ-105A's transparent tank, two casting stands and six supplied trays. Choose a 107 × 60 mm or 52 × 60 mm gel format, prepare gels ahead of a run and work with a specified buffer volume of 200 mL. The 148.3 × 145.8 × 59.1 mm unit keeps the electrophoresis setup compact without tying you to a single tray width.
The clear tank is more than a styling difference from MT-108. Major Science documents MJ-105A for real-time observation with the optional MBE-300 blue-light setup. The base system is supplied without that light source, amber filter/fan or hood, so you can distinguish the electrophoresis purchase from the visualization equipment your workflow needs.

Tank and lid
Your MJ-105A package includes two MJ-G01 gel maker stands, two MJ-T02 107 × 60 mm trays and four MJ-T01 52 × 60 mm trays, together with the tank, lid, one MJ-C01 comb, one MT-C03 comb and a black/red cable set. Major Science specifies capacity to cast up to six gels at once.
That is preparation capacity, not six independent powered chambers. The kit includes one tank and one of each listed comb. Plan comb placement for the gel formats you intend to cast, and order additional combs separately when your preparation workflow calls for them.
The black strip helps make the wells easier to see while loading. Tray markings identify migration distance and the 5 mm agarose-level reference. The gel maker stands provide the casting setup without tape, clamps or springs.
MJ-C01 offers two analytical comb faces with different tooth counts and thicknesses. MT-C03 supplies the multichannel-compatible 23-tooth arrangement plus preparative positions and marker lanes. Together they let you plan the run around lane count and sample volume instead of treating “25 samples” as the capacity of every tray arrangement.
MJ-C01 provides 1.0 mm and 1.5 mm analytical comb faces. MT-C03 adds a 23-tooth multichannel-compatible arrangement and preparative positions with marker lanes. The system maximum is 25 samples, not 25 samples with every comb arrangement.
Reference volumes for a 5 mm-thick gel
Volumes are manufacturer reference values for the stated gel thickness. They are not detection limits or a universal loading prescription.
For experiments that call for observation during electrophoresis, Major Science identifies the transparent MJ-105A and MBE-300 combination. The manufacturer lists packages with the MBE-300, amber filter lid with fan and a synthetic paper hood. These are distinct packages or optional components, not contents of base catalog number MJ-105A.
Use a stain and viewing setup appropriate to the chosen light source and protocol. Do not assume every nucleic-acid stain is suitable, and keep liquid away from the optional fan assembly. If you only need a conventional gel tank, the base MJ-105A avoids presenting optional observation equipment as a required purchase.

Cast
Select a tray and comb, seat the tray in a gel maker stand and follow your validated agarose method. Choose your gel thickness within the 10 mm maximum; the 5 mm marking is a reference, not the maximum.
Load and run
Use the black visualization strip while loading, fit the safety lid and connect to the appropriate external electrophoresis power supply. Turn power off before handling the lid or leads. The clear lid and interlock do not remove the need for normal electrical precautions.
Review
Use your chosen imaging workflow. Real-time observation requires the appropriate additional blue-light equipment; transparency alone does not illuminate fluorescent bands.
Care
Keep tray surfaces clear and protect the electrodes. Follow the supplied cleaning instructions and avoid treating the 130°C material specification as whole-unit autoclave approval.
MJ-105A supports horizontal agarose nucleic-acid workflows such as PCR-fragment checks, restriction analysis and preparation for Southern or Northern blotting. Its useful everyday advantages are concrete: two tray widths, six supplied trays, casting without tape or clamps, and a defined path to optional blue-light observation. It is not a protein PAGE cell, imaging camera or diagnostic assay.
Bench tip: If all you need is another tray or comb, order that part rather than a whole second system. Match MJ-T01/MJ-T02 trays and MJ-G01 stands to MJ-105A; do not choose MT tray codes simply because both systems are called “mini.”
Extra trays, stands and replacement cables use model-specific catalog numbers. The shared MJ-C01 and MT-C03 combs are already supplied once in each base kit. See Product Specifications for the complete parts list.
Compatible accessory:
Sold separately. Major Science lists this power supply in a package with MJ-105A. Select run settings for your gel and protocol.
Optional MJ-105A observation setup; light, amber-filter/fan lid and hood are not included in the base system.
MJ-105A includes the transparent tank and lid, two MJ-G01 stands, two MJ-T02 107 × 60 mm trays, four MJ-T01 52 × 60 mm trays, one MJ-C01 comb, one MT-C03 comb and a black/red electrophoresis cable set. The power supply and visualization accessories are separate.
No. Those belong to separate products or specifically named bundles. Base MJ-105A includes the tank and casting accessories. Major Science lists MINI-300 power-supply bundles and MBE-300 observation bundles separately.
MJ-105A has a transparent tank, 60 mm-long gel formats, 200 mL specified buffer, six trays and two stands. MT-108 uses 83 mm-long gels, 400 mL buffer, a snow-finish tank, three trays and one stand. Both specify a maximum of 25 samples with the appropriate comb configuration.
The stated six-gel capacity refers to casting with the supplied preparation equipment, not six independent electrophoresis runs. MJ-105A includes one tank, two stands, six trays and one each of the MJ-C01 and MT-C03 combs.
Major Science documents real-time observation with the optional MBE-300 setup. Base MJ-105A does not include a light source, amber filter/fan or hood. Select the appropriate visualization accessories and compatible staining method; a transparent tank alone does not illuminate bands.
One MJ-C01 and one MT-C03 are included. MJ-C01 provides analytical arrangements up to 25 teeth; MT-C03 includes a 23-tooth multichannel-compatible arrangement plus preparative and other analytical formats. Choose the arrangement appropriate to the tray and sample plan.
Major Science specifies 200 mL buffer volume and a maximum gel thickness of 10 mm. The tray has a 5 mm agarose-level reference. Gel thickness and buffer preparation should follow your validated method and the supplied instructions.
The published 130°C figure is a material-temperature capacity, not confirmed permission to autoclave the assembled system. MJ-105A's specified operating temperature is 4–40°C. Follow the current manufacturer cleaning instructions for the complete unit.
These are separately ordered parts, not additional quantities included with the base system. Contact Blue Tiger Scientific for ordering assistance.
