IKA KS 4000 ic CONTROL • 0003510101 • US 115 V

Orbital incubation with an external-cooling route when heating alone is not enough.

Choose the IKA KS 4000 ic control when a suitable vessel-shaking method needs the KS 4000 format with a built-in circuit for external-fluid cooling. It combines a 20 mm orbit, heating and electronic speed/time controls within a 90 L chamber.

US catalog 0003510101 is the 115 V ic version. Current technical data states 12–80°C with coolant inlet temperature above 3°C. Actual below-ambient operation depends on the external cooling supply, load, room conditions and method.

Two separate selections matter: a compatible vessel-holding attachment is required, and cooled operation needs an appropriate external cooling unit and installation. Neither is included. The ic is not a self-contained compressor refrigerator or a ready-to-run, fully accessorized culture system.

Is the KS 4000 ic the right incubator shaker?

Your method needs a cooling route

The ic has a built-in circuit connected to an external cooling unit. Choose it when heating-only, ambient-relative operation does not meet the method. Do not infer below-ambient capability from the i model’s similar appearance.

Your vessels fit a defined attachment

Select a compatible holder for the actual vessel shape, number, fill and clearance. AS 4000.1 is a manufacturer-listed universal option, sold separately. A chamber is not itself a vessel-restraint system.

Your load fits the speed envelope

The 20 kg maximum includes attachment, vessels and contents. It is not a promise of 20 kg at 500 rpm. Secure and balance the layout, and select speed from the current manual’s load guidance.

You can provide the cooling installation

Specify coolant, hoses, pressure protection and drainage for the application. This base instrument does not arrive with an external cooler, a complete tubing/limiter kit or a confirmed cooling-capacity calculation.

What comes with US order 0003510101?

The empty chamber is not a supplied vessel-holding attachment. The 90 L figure describes enclosure volume, not a 90 L batch.

Instrument, sensor and mounting hardware

  • KS 4000 ic control incubator shaker, US 115 V, 50/60 Hz.
  • PT 1000.60 stainless-steel temperature sensor.
  • Four short clamping screws and two long clamping screws.
  • The current manual additionally lists the mains cable, operating instructions, two cooling-hose connecting pieces and unlocking handle.

Not listed as supplied: a vessel attachment, vessels, external cooling unit, cooling hoses, pressure limiter, labworldsoft license or RS-232 cable. A built-in circuit and two connection pieces are not a complete external cooling installation.

The live US product list is shorter than the manual’s packing list; both identify the same ic instrument. We do not add an RS-232 cable from older cached descriptions or infer a specific cable/plug configuration merely from an accessory listing.

External cooling: select the circuit, not just a low setpoint

The ic circuit transfers heat to a separately specified cooling unit

The current manual confirms a cooler built into this ic variant, connected through the rear inlet/outlet fittings to an external unit. It gives IKA RC 2 GREEN basic/control as examples, not a complete application-sizing or delivery list.

  • Water is the only permitted coolant, with antifreeze (for example, ethylene glycol), as specified by the manual. Do not substitute an arbitrary heat-transfer fluid. The cited instruction does not specify an antifreeze concentration.
  • The supplied connection pieces accept 10 mm interior-diameter hose. Confirm the temperature/pressure suitability of the actual hoses and connections.
  • Keep coolant inlet temperature above 3°C and observe the maximum permissible 1 bar pressure. The manual recommends a pressure limiter as a safeguard.
  • Route the drain hose to an appropriate drain as instructed; accumulated condensate needs a defined drainage route.

The published 12–80°C range is conditioned on the cooling supply and operating setup. No minimum flow or complete cooling-capacity sizing is established by the current instrument table. Confirm the cooler, pressure protection and heat-load requirements before treating a proposed combination as validated.

Another cooler appearing in the Blue Tiger catalog, including HRC 2 GREEN control, does not by itself establish compatibility. This listing does not bundle a cooler or promise a specific circulator pairing.

Original cooling requirements guide: separate external cooler, permitted water and antifreeze, 10 mm hose, inlet above 3 degrees and maximum 1 bar, condensate drain
Planning requirements only, not a piping drawing or installation procedure. Read the current ic instructions and the selected cooling unit’s manual.

Choose the holder before counting vessel capacity

AS 4000.1 universal attachment shown as a separate compatible accessory
AS 4000.1 is a separate purchase, not part of the ic instrument order. Confirm the delivered roll configuration and required vessel layout.

AS 4000.1 is compatible, but it is not included

IKA’s current ic accessory list identifies AS 4000.1 / 0008022200 as a compatible universal attachment. Its adjustable restraint format can support different suitable vessel layouts; the actual rolls, spacing and secured load must be reviewed for the intended vessels.

Compatible accessory: AS 4000.1 universal attachment for the KS 4000 family. Order it separately if it is the appropriate holding format for your vessels.

Do not turn a nominal vessel-layout example into a working-liquid or maximum-speed guarantee. The holder is not automatically supplied with a specific maximum-layout roll count simply because a brochure illustrates that layout. Fixing-clip and dish formats are separate attachment choices.

Select speed for the entire secured moving load

Load guidance from the current manual: 6 kg at 500 rpm, 12 kg at 400 rpm, 15 kg at 300 rpm and 20 kg at 120 rpm
Original presentation of manufacturer standard-value guidance. Count attachment, vessels and contents. Balance and secure the load and reduce speed if operation is uneven.

20 kg and 500 rpm are not a combined operating promise

The instrument’s speed range is 10–500 rpm. The current manual gives load guidance of 6 kg at 500 rpm, 12 kg at 400 rpm, 15 kg at 300 rpm and 20 kg at 120 rpm. These refer to the complete moving load, not liquid mass alone.

Holder geometry, vessel shape, center of gravity, fill and securing method affect smooth operation. Begin with an appropriate setting and reduce frequency if unstable. Disturbance monitoring is not a substitute for correct restraint or protection against every spill.

The 90 L chamber and 440 × 440 × 352 mm operating area are enclosure references. Vessel clearance, safe fill, holder layout and total moving load determine the actual usable setup. No universal chamber-to-liquid-capacity conversion is implied.

Temperature sensing and controls for the actual method

Measure the medium without merging different performance figures

The supplied PT 1000.60 connects inside the chamber under the manual’s instructions. Its stainless-steel sensor can measure the medium; maintain at least 20 mm immersion and route the cable so shaking is not obstructed and the vessel cannot be tipped or damaged.

IKA reports control accuracy, temperature stability and temperature homogeneity under different defined vessel, water-load, room and target-temperature tests. A ±0.05 K stability reference is not unconditional accuracy or uniformity for every vessel arrangement.

The LED interface provides local speed, temperature and time settings, timed or continuous operation, and an RS-232 interface for separately configured software use. Core local control does not require a PC or labworldsoft purchase. A USB interface, RS-232 cable and software license are not promised.

Hood-open protection stops heating and shaking, but mechanical coast-down must finish before handling the load. Power-restoration behavior depends on the selected operating mode; do not assume every mode prevents restart. Review the temperature safety limit and method settings.

KS 4000 i or ic: choose the temperature architecture

Selection guide comparing heating-only KS 4000 i and externally cooled KS 4000 ic, with separate holder requirements
This order is ic, not the heating-only i. Neither the holder nor an external cooling unit is included in this ic instrument order.

This ic order adds the external-fluid cooling circuit

Choose it when the cooling installation and the conditioned 12–80°C range meet the actual method. Below-ambient operation depends on external coolant supply, not a built-in compressor.

The separate i is heating-only

The i model is specified for ambient +5°C to 80°C. It has no ic cooling circuit; simply buying an external chiller does not convert an i instrument into an ic.

Holder selection remains a separate decision

Both models need suitable vessel restraint. The extra temperature-control capability does not automatically supply or validate an attachment, vessel layout or maximum working fill.

Alternative format: KS 4000 i control for a separately specified heating-only workflow. Compare the actual temperature requirement before selecting the model.

A practical cooled-incubation setup workflow

Define the holder and cooling supply before choosing settings

  • Specify vessels, count, working fill, target temperature and total moving load.
  • Choose and mount the appropriate holder; secure and balance every vessel.
  • Specify the external cooler, permitted coolant, hoses, pressure safeguard and condensate drain for the application.
  • Select load-appropriate speed, conditioned temperature, safety limit, timer and restart mode.
  • Observe stable operation and verify the method; wait for complete stop and safe handling temperature before opening or removing the load.

Allow the manual’s at least 100 mm clearance on all sides, plus access for the hood, ventilation, cooling connections, drainage and safe handling. Published body dimensions are not the complete installation-space allowance.

Planning workflow: choose attachment, specify external cooling, select appropriate conditions, route condensate and stop before handling
Planning overview only. The instrument, attachment and selected cooling-unit instructions govern installation and operation; this is not a culture protocol.

Safety, care, delivery and warranty

This instrument is not a CO₂-controlled incubator, sterilizer, biosafety enclosure or explosion-proof system. Choose appropriate process safeguards, media, fill and temperature conditions. Do not treat control-surface antimicrobial marketing as protection of the sample.

Isolate power before fitting accessories, cleaning or service. Inspect holders, fasteners, vessels, hoses and drains; follow cleaning/decontamination instructions after spills or broken glass. Plan suitable handling for a 55 kg instrument rather than treating it as a light bench accessory.

The manual states a two-year baseline warranty with exclusions for wear, improper use and inadequate care. Current IKA KS 4000 registration terms provide eligible extension coverage subject to their conditions; no unconditional period is promised for every holder, cooler or consumable. Blue Tiger Scientific handles purchases and return requests. IKA handles warranty assessment, technical support, calibration and repairs.

Shipping uses a disclosed 180 lb provisional equipment-packing allowance, not the 55 kg device mass as measured packed gross. Manufacturer stock, dispatch timing, actual cartons and any special delivery services require order-specific confirmation. The external cooler and holder are separate items, not hidden inside this weight allowance.

Specify the ic instrument, holder and cooling installation separately

For US 115 V KS 4000 ic control / 0003510101, tell Blue Tiger the vessel type, size, count, working fill, target temperature, total moving load and available cooling arrangement. We can coordinate application and current configuration questions with IKA.

AS 4000.1 / 0008022200 is a separately ordered compatible holder option. The external cooler, hoses and pressure-protection arrangement need their own selection. No supplier-stock quantity, fixed dispatch date or validated cooler bundle is established by the store inventory setting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does KS 4000 ic control 0003510101 include a cooler and vessel holder?

No external cooling unit or vessel-holding attachment is included. The ic has a built-in external-fluid cooling circuit. The US scope includes the instrument, PT 1000.60 and mounting screws; the manual also lists mains cable, instructions, two hose connection pieces and unlocking handle. A suitable holder and cooling installation are separate selections.

Is the ic a self-contained refrigerated shaker?

No compressor refrigerator is supplied inside this order. The ic circuit connects to a separate external cooling unit. Current data states 12–80°C with coolant inlet above 3°C, within specified ambient conditions; the actual result depends on coolant supply, load and method. Do not interpret ic as an unqualified negative-temperature rating.

What cooling connections and limits must I account for?

The current manual specifies 10 mm interior-diameter hose connection, water as the only coolant (with antifreeze, for example ethylene glycol), inlet above 3°C and maximum 1 bar pressure. It recommends a pressure limiter and requires a condensate drainage route. Cooler flow, cooling capacity and the complete installation must be checked for the actual application.

Can it shake 20 kg at 500 rpm?

Do not combine those maxima. The load includes attachment, vessels and contents. Current standard-value guidance is 6 kg at 500 rpm, 12 kg at 400 rpm, 15 kg at 300 rpm and 20 kg at 120 rpm. Secure and balance the load and reduce frequency if unstable; these are not universal working-liquid guarantees.

Is AS 4000.1 compatible with this ic model?

Yes. The current manufacturer ic accessory list identifies AS 4000.1 / 0008022200 as a compatible universal attachment. It is sold separately. Confirm the current delivered roll configuration and actual vessel layout; a maximum-count brochure layout does not prove the required rolls or vessels are included.

How does 0003510101 differ from the heating-only KS 4000 i?

The ic adds the built-in circuit for external-fluid cooling and has a conditioned 12–80°C range. The separate i / 0003510001 is heating-only, ambient +5°C to 80°C. Both need a separate vessel holder. Buying a chiller does not give an i unit an ic cooling circuit.

Does ±0.05 K mean every sample is controlled to that accuracy?

No. IKA lists separate control accuracy, stability and homogeneity tests. The ±0.05 K stability reference uses one 0.5 L vessel, room 25°C and target 37°C; it is not universal accuracy or uniformity for every load. Use the supplied sensor correctly and verify the actual method.

Is HRC 2 GREEN control automatically compatible as the external cooler?

No automatic HRC 2 GREEN compatibility is established here. Any proposed cooler must be reviewed for coolant, pressure, flow, connections and thermal duty. The current manual gives RC 2 GREEN basic/control as examples, not a ready-made system guarantee. A separately listed circulator is not part of this instrument order.
