IKA KS 4000 i CONTROL • 0003510001 • US 115 V

Heated orbital mixing in a defined chamber. Choose the holder for your vessels.

Specify a benchtop incubator shaker around the load you actually need to run. The IKA KS 4000 i control combines a 20 mm orbital stroke, electronically controlled shaking and heating in a 90 L inner chamber. Its LED interface supports timed and continuous operation without a required computer purchase.

US catalog 0003510001 is the 115 V heating-only i model, not the ic cooling-coil variant. The stated temperature range is ambient +5°C to 80°C, and allowable shaking speed depends on the complete secured load.

Attachment required, sold separately. This order is the shaker unit with the listed sensor and mounting screws. A vessel-holding attachment, vessels and contents are not included. AS 4000.1 is a separately selected universal-holder option, not an extra item hidden in the base price.

A QUICK BUYING DECISION

Is this incubator shaker right for your lab?

For suitable temperature-controlled vessel mixing

Choose this format when a secured vessel load needs orbital movement in a heated chamber. Match the application, holding arrangement, fill, temperature and speed to the actual research method rather than treating all vessel types as interchangeable.

For a load that fits the operating envelope

The 20 kg limit includes the attachment, vessels and contents. It is not 20 kg of liquid at 500 rpm. The manual’s load-dependent speed guidance is part of the selection decision, not fine print after the purchase.

For heating above the actual room temperature

The i model works from ambient +5°C to 80°C. It is not a refrigerated incubator or an instrument with a fixed 5°C minimum. If below-ambient operation matters, compare a suitable cooling configuration before ordering.

For a defined, separately specified holder

Choose the attachment to suit the vessel shape, size and arrangement. The AS 4000.1 universal holder is a practical mixed-vessel candidate, sold separately. Do not assume a particular roll count or maximum layout arrives with the shaker.

Choose a different configuration when the requirements differ.

This is not a refrigerated shaker, a CO₂-controlled incubator, a sterilizer, a biosafety enclosure or a promise to shake 20 kg at maximum speed. Use another configuration when the actual temperature, containment, vessel clearance, load or motion requirements fall outside this model’s limits.

What comes with US order 0003510001?

Actual KS 4000 i chamber detail from the manufacturer photograph
The chamber is not a supplied vessel holder. An attachment must be selected separately before a vessel-shaking setup is complete.

The shaker unit, sensing hardware and mounting screws

  • KS 4000 i control incubator shaker, US 115 V, 50/60 Hz.
  • PT 1000.60 stainless-steel temperature sensor.
  • Four short clamping screws.
  • Two long clamping screws.
  • The operating manual also identifies the mains cable and operating instructions.

Not in the current live delivery list: AS 4000.1 or another vessel holder, flasks or other vessels, a chiller, a labworldsoft software license or an RS-232 cable. A communication port is not proof that its cable or software license is supplied.

The mounting screws listed with the shaker do not mean a holder is included. Keep the instrument and its selected attachment as separate order items rather than inventing a manufacturer bundle.

Specify the vessel holder before counting capacity

AS 4000.1 universal attachment, sold separately

Manufacturer part 0008022200 uses adjustable clamping rolls for different vessel types. It is listed for the KS 4000 family and is a practical general-purpose option. Confirm the current delivered holder/roll configuration and the actual vessel layout when ordering.

Fixing-clip and dish formats are different choices

The manufacturer also documents AS 4000.2 fixing-clip and AS 4000.3 dish attachment formats. Select the right format for the vessels and process; fixing clips and other restraints must not be assumed included merely because a mounting plate is pictured.

A layout is not a working-liquid or speed guarantee

Manufacturer attachment guides give examples by nominal vessel size and required rolls. Those are layout references, not sample fill volumes or a guarantee that every arrangement runs at maximum speed. Some maximum-count arrangements need more rolls than a documented standard holder configuration.

For a complete procurement request, specify the shaker 0003510001 and the separately selected holder, for example AS 4000.1 / 0008022200. The holder is not included in this instrument order.

Load and speed must be selected together

Manufacturer standard-value load and maximum-speed guidance: 6 kg at 500 rpm, 12 kg at 400, 15 kg at 300, 20 kg at 120
Original graphic reproducing the current manual’s standard-value guidance. Count the attachment, vessels and contents; secure and balance the load and reduce speed if unstable.

20 kg and 500 rpm are not one combined operating promise

The speed range is 10–500 rpm, but the current operating manual gives these load guideline values: 6 kg at up to 500 rpm, 12 kg at 400 rpm, 15 kg at 300 rpm and 20 kg at 120 rpm.

The total moving load includes the selected attachment, vessels and contents. Arrangement, center of gravity, securing method and material behavior affect smooth operation. Do not simply subtract a nominal holder weight and advertise the remainder as a universal liquid capacity.

Secure the holder and every vessel, distribute the load appropriately and start at a suitable low setting. If operation becomes uneven, reduce the shaking frequency until stable. Disturbance protection does not replace correct balancing or prevent every possible spill.

The 90 L inner chamber figure describes available enclosure volume, not a 90 L batch rating. Vessel geometry, holder layout, safe fill and hood clearance remain separate limits.

Heating and temperature measurement for the actual method

Ambient-relative control, with qualified performance figures

The heating-only i version is specified for ambient +5°C to 80°C within its permitted ambient conditions. A warmer room changes the lower reachable operating temperature; it is not a refrigeration system.

The supplied PT 1000.60 can be connected at the internal receptacle to measure the medium under the manual’s instructions. Keep the sensor immersed at least 20 mm, and route the probe and cable so shaking is unimpeded and no vessel is tipped or damaged. The manual describes temperature control using the connected sensor’s value.

IKA reports different control, stability and homogeneity results under different vessel, water-load, room-temperature and target-temperature conditions. These must not be collapsed into a blanket “±0.05°C accuracy” claim for every load.

Select an appropriate safety-temperature limit and follow the manual’s calibration and medium-safety instructions. A numerical setpoint does not prove every vessel has reached the same medium temperature.

Actual photograph detail. Displayed readings are illustrative, not a recommended incubation or shaking method.

Stand-alone controls, with optional PC integration

Timed or continuous operation

Set speed, time and heating from the instrument’s LED controls. The current technical data lists a 1–59,940 minute time range and continuous operation. A PC and software purchase are not required for the core local control functions.

Hood and disturbance protections

The manual describes hood-open shutdown of heating and shaking, with mechanical coast-down. Wait for a complete stop before handling the load. The instrument also monitors disturbed/uneven operation, but secure balanced vessels remain the operator’s responsibility.

RS-232 is not USB

The KS 4000 i control has an RS-232 interface. Optional labworldsoft can support a separately configured computer workflow; do not infer a USB interface, included cable, software license or regulatory electronic-record compliance.

Power-restoration behavior depends on the selected operating mode. The manual describes modes that do and do not restart after a power interruption. Do not assume a universal no-restart behavior; review the mode and safety-limit settings for the application.

A practical secured-load workflow

Original workflow: select and mount a holder, secure and balance the load, set suitable speed and heat, check method and stop before handling
Planning roles only, not an installation or biological-culture protocol. Read the current operating instructions and attachment guidance before use.

Choose the setup before choosing the maximum settings

  • Select a manufacturer-approved attachment for the actual vessels, and confirm it is ordered separately.
  • Place the instrument on an appropriate stable surface with the required clearances; mount the holder as instructed.
  • Secure and balance vessels, and account for the entire moving load rather than only the liquid mass.
  • Select a speed within the load guidance and an appropriate ambient-relative temperature, safety limit and timer/mode.
  • Observe stable operation, wait for complete stop and safe handling temperatures, and isolate power for accessory changes or cleaning.

The manual specifies at least 100 mm clearance on all sides. Also allow the stated hood-opening height and access needed for installation, ventilation and handling; the instrument’s body dimensions are not a complete facility-space allowance.

i or ic: do not confuse heating with refrigeration

Original KS 4000 i versus ic and attachment-selection guide
This order is the heating-only i model. The ic variant and an external cooling unit are separate selections; AS 4000.1 is also not included here.

This i model heats above ambient

Choose it when the ambient +5°C to 80°C range and the remaining operating limits meet the method. It does not provide an active below-ambient cooling route.

The ic model adds a cooling coil

The ic variant connects to an appropriate external cooling unit. It is not a shaker with a self-contained refrigerator, and adding a chiller to an i order does not establish that the i unit has the required cooling circuit.

The holder decision applies separately

Both instrument selection and vessel restraint matter. A different chamber capacity or temperature option does not automatically select, supply or validate the holder, rolls or clips for a particular vessel layout.

Care, safety and warranty

Use trained staff and process-appropriate safeguards. This shaker is not a containment or sterilization device, and no clinical, biosafety-cabinet or explosion-protection approval is claimed. Assess the media, fill and temperature risks rather than treating antimicrobial control-surface marketing as protection of the sample.

Inspect the holder, fasteners and vessels regularly, stop for broken glass or spilled medium, and follow the manufacturer’s cleaning and decontamination instructions. Isolate electrical power before fitting accessories or servicing; do not bypass the hood or disturbance protections.

The manual states a two-year baseline manufacturer warranty with exclusions for wear, improper use and inadequate care. IKA’s current warranty terms list KS 4000 as eligible for extension to five years after registration within 90 days of purchase, subject to its terms. That is not unconditional five-year coverage for every accessory or consumable.

Start purchase and return requests through Blue Tiger Scientific. IKA handles manufacturer warranty assessment, technical support, calibration where applicable and repairs under its terms.

Related workflows, not interchangeable equipment

Related workflow: C-MAG HS 7 digital for separately specified open-vessel stirring and heating. It is not an incubator-shaker attachment or a substitute for the required holder.

Related workflow: LR 1000 control for separate viscous-formulation development. Its anchor mixing and vessel system serve a different process; no automatic sample-transfer or accessory compatibility is implied.

Specify the instrument and the holder together

Instrument order: US 115 V KS 4000 i control, catalog 0003510001. This order does not include a vessel-holding attachment.

For a working vessel setup: tell Blue Tiger the vessel type, nominal size, number, planned working fill, target temperature and total moving load. Ask us to confirm the selected attachment and its current supplied components; AS 4000.1 / 0008022200 is a separate general-purpose candidate.

For time-critical procurement, ask us to request current manufacturer availability, dispatch and equipment-delivery information and coordinate application questions. No fixed supplier lead time or manufacturer stock quantity is established by the store inventory setting.

Confirm my holder configuration

Mention KS 4000 i control and 0003510001. The shipping-weight allowance and automated arrival dates are provisional, not a measured manufacturer packed gross or a confirmed dispatch date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does US KS 4000 i control 0003510001 include a vessel holder?

No. IKA’s current scope lists the shaker, PT 1000.60 sensor, four short clamping screws and two long screws. A compatible vessel-holding attachment must be ordered separately. AS 4000.1 / 0008022200 is a manufacturer-listed universal option, not an item included in this instrument order.

Can it shake 20 kg at 500 rpm?

Do not combine those maxima. The total moving load includes the attachment, vessels and contents. The current manual gives standard-value guidance of 6 kg at 500 rpm, 12 kg at 400 rpm, 15 kg at 300 rpm and 20 kg at 120 rpm. Secure and balance the layout and reduce speed if operation is uneven; these are not universal liquid-fill guarantees.

Is the 90 L chamber a 90 L sample-capacity rating?

No. It is total inner chamber volume. The operating area is 440 × 440 × 352 mm, while vessel size, holder layout, clearance, safe fill and load-dependent speed determine the usable setup. A chamber-volume figure cannot be converted directly into liters of medium.

Can the i model cool below room temperature?

No active cooling is specified for this i model. Its range is ambient +5°C to 80°C within the permitted ambient conditions. The separate ic variant has a cooling coil that requires an appropriate external cooling unit; it is not a self-contained refrigerator. Do not select this i order for a below-ambient requirement.

Do I need a computer or software to operate it?

No computer purchase is required for core local operation. Set speed, heating and timer/continuous operation through the instrument’s LED controls. It has RS-232 for a separately configured optional labworldsoft workflow; a USB interface, RS-232 cable and software license are not promised in the current order scope.

Does ±0.05 K mean every load is controlled to that accuracy?

No. IKA reports different control accuracy, stability and homogeneity figures under specified water-load, vessel, room and target-temperature tests. The ±0.05 K stability reference uses one 0.5 L vessel, room 25°C and target 37°C; it is not unconditional accuracy or uniformity for every vessel arrangement.

What does the supplied PT 1000.60 sensor do?

It can measure the medium through the internal connection under the manual’s instructions, which describe heating control from the connected sensor value. Keep it immersed at least 20 mm and secure the cable so shaking does not damage or tip vessels. The included sensor does not add cooling or replace appropriate method verification.

What warranty and delivery information should I rely on?

The manual states two years baseline warranty with exclusions. Current IKA terms list KS 4000 as eligible for a five-year total period after registration within 90 days, subject to terms. Manufacturer availability, dispatch and packed shipping mass require confirmation. The store uses a documented 165 lb provisional equipment-delivery allowance, not the 50 kg device figure as a measured packed gross.
