Two well sizes cover 12–14 mm and 15–17 mm tubes.
Molded row and column markings help you locate samples.
MTC states the racks can be used in water baths without floating.
Heavy-duty polypropylene ships flat and snaps together.
90 places in 6 rows of 15. Use for 12 × 75 mm FACS and culture tubes and 12–13 mm test tubes.
60 places in 5 rows of 12. Use for 16 mm culture and transport tubes and other 15–17 mm tubes.
For 0.2–2.0 mL microtubes or 15/50 mL conical racks, see MTC Bio storage racks and boxes.
The racks ship flat to save space, then snap together into a rigid rack. Molded alphanumeric markings along the sides give each position a reference, so you can map samples to a worksheet. The polypropylene construction is autoclavable, and MTC Bio states the racks stay in place in a water bath rather than floating.

Confirm material compatibility and your method’s requirements before use. No additional performance or regulatory certification is implied.
Match the rack to the tube’s outside diameter, not its nominal volume. Confirm that tall or conical-bottom tubes seat securely before loading a full rack into a water bath.
Compatible accessory: MTC Bio disposable rimless test tubes, 12 and 13 mm (fit R1115).
Compatible accessory: MTC Bio 16 × 100 mm transport and culture tubes (fit R1117).
Compatible accessory: MTC Bio FlowTubes 12 × 75 mm flow cytometry tubes (fit R1115).
Alternative format: MTC Bio microtube, conical and PCR tube racks and storage boxes.
Compatible-accessory matches are based on MTC Bio’s stated rack diameter ranges and the tubes’ published outside diameters. Tubes and racks are sold separately; confirm tube height and bottom shape for your workflow.
They serve the same job with different specifications. Thermo Scientific Nalgene Unwire polypropylene racks 5976-0013 (13 mm) and 5976-0016 (16 mm) hold 72 tubes in a 6 × 12 array, are molded in one piece and are stated by Thermo Fisher to be not autoclavable. MTC Bio R1115 holds 90 tubes 12–14 mm and R1117 holds 60 tubes 15–17 mm; both snap together from a flat pack and are autoclavable. Position count and footprint differ, so do not assume an identical layout. Trademarks belong to their respective owners; comparison does not imply endorsement, affiliation or common manufacturing origin.
For 12–14 mm tubes, R1115 can serve the same purpose with 90 positions instead of 72. It is not identical: the footprint and array differ (6 × 15 versus 6 × 12), and R1115 is autoclavable while the Nalgene polypropylene Unwire rack is not. Check bench space and any automation or labeling layout before switching. Yes. MTC Bio specifies autoclavable polypropylene for both R1115 and R1117. Follow your facility’s validated autoclave cycle.
MTC Bio states the racks can be used safely in water baths without floating. Confirm stability with your tube load and water level.
Each catalog number is a pack of five racks. They ship flat and snap together.
R1115 measures 247 × 105 × 63 mm and R1117 measures 245 × 110 × 72 mm (L × W × H).
