MTC Bio 24- & 48-Well Deep-Well Plates, 3–14 mL – Square, Rectangular & Round, OptiWell™ & ILP

When 2 mL per well is not enough, a 24- or 48-well deep-well plate gives you 3 to 14 mL per well on the same ANSI/SLAS footprint as a 96-well plate. That makes them the plate of choice for larger bacterial and yeast cultures, protein expression screens, and bulk sample storage in liquid handlers.
Pick your plate in the first menu, by well count, shape, and volume, then choose your version in the second: MTC Bio OptiWell™ or ILP, sterile or non-sterile. The price updates with every choice.

OptiWell™ plates are rated for pelleting cultures.
24-Well
Volumes: 8.6 or 14.2 mL
Best for: The largest cultures and sample volumes
Note: Both are ILP square-well plates
48-Well Rectangular
Volume: 4.6 mL
Best for: Culture screens with strong mixing
Note: OptiWell™ and ILP versions
48-Well Round
Volumes: 3.0 or 3.5 mL
Best for: Pipetting and resuspension
Note: 3.5 mL OptiWell™ plate is 51.5 mm tall
OptiWell™ vs. ILP
OptiWell™: MTC Bio line, black printed grid
ILP: Now part of MTC Bio, often lower per case
Tip: Match the catalog number your protocol specifies

These plates range from 41.2 mm to 51.5 mm tall. Most fit the same deck positions and shakers as a 2 mL 96-well plate, but the 3.5 mL round-well OptiWell™ D3048-03 at 51.5 mm may not clear every stacker or lid.
Confirm height against your instrument before switching plates, and match your sealing mat or film to the well count. We carry silicone mats for 24 square-well and 48 rectangular-well plates.
Fill each well to about 20 to 30% of its volume for the best aeration on a shaker, and use a breathable seal. For smaller cultures, see our 96-well 2 mL deep-well plates; for storage, see our plate sealing films and foils.
Yes, for most applications. They are polypropylene 24- and 48-well deep-well plates holding 3 to 14 mL per well, sterile or non-sterile, with a standard ANSI/SLAS footprint. Confirm height for automated systems before switching. Corning®, Axygen®, Thermo Scientific™, and Nunc™ are trademarks of their respective owners; Blue Tiger Scientific is not affiliated.
Both are MTC Bio lines. OptiWell™ plates have black printed alphanumerics. ILP plates, from Innovative Laboratory Products (now part of MTC Bio), are often lower in price per case. Choose the one that matches your protocol or budget.
They are the same format: 48 rectangular wells, 4.6 mL, U-bottom. The OptiWell™ D3048-01 is 41.2 mm tall and the ILP DP4MVS-4 is 42.6 mm, so check height if your system is tight on clearance.
Not at this time. DP1500-SQ-24-N is non-sterile only. For a sterile 24-well plate, choose the 8.6 mL DP5MUS-24-NS.
50 plates per case for every plate on this page.
Yes. OptiWell™ plates are rated up to 4,000 × g.
