MAJOR SCIENCE · MP-510
The MP-510 brings 5–500 V operation to the Lively platform for electrophoresis methods that need more voltage range than a 300 V supply can provide. Its 800 mA current ceiling and 300 W maximum output also give you a broader operating envelope than the compact MINI-500.
Choose constant voltage, current or power, then use a single set of conditions or build a sequence of up to six steps. With 30 stored program files and a 2.4-inch TFT colour display, MP-510 suits a bench where higher-voltage methods and repeatable setup matter together.
5–500 V
Voltage setting range; 1 V increments.
1–800 mA
Current setting range; 10 mA increments.
300 W
Maximum output power; consider voltage and current together.
Reach the voltage your method calls for
Adjust from 5 to 500 V in 1 V increments. The extended range makes MP-510 worth considering when a validated method exceeds the Lively 300 V models' ceiling.
Keep multistage methods ready
Save up to 30 program files with as many as six steps each. Reuse established sequences instead of reconstructing each stage for every run.
Choose more than voltage or current
Constant-power operation adds another control option alongside constant voltage and current, so you can follow methods that specify power as the regulated parameter.
For an electrophoresis workflow such as vertical PAGE, start with the gel format, buffer system and apparatus voltage rating. Prepare and load the apparatus according to its instructions, then select the MP-510 conditions from your method. A 500 V ceiling is useful when the method requires it, not an instruction to increase the voltage on a routine gel.
Where the protocol calls for different initial and separation conditions, enter those stages as a program and check each stage before starting. Monitor the displayed running values and the gel's progress against the method's endpoint. Keep the apparatus closed during operation and stop and isolate the output before changing connections.
The 2.4-inch TFT colour LCD displays setting and running conditions, helping you check the selected mode and follow the run without relying on the setpoint alone. The microprocessor controller offers constant V/I/P operation and automatic voltage/current crossover.
Selecting a constant mode automatically sets the other two parameters to their maximum values; you can then change them to suit the protocol and apparatus. Make that limit check part of setup, especially when moving from a lower-voltage method to one that uses more of the MP-510's range.
MP-510 supports up to six steps per program and 30 stored program files. Use that capacity for distinct methods or established variants, with stage conditions taken from your laboratory procedure. Built-in typical running conditions and manually editable programs help you begin without making every method a blank-page setup.
Choose timed or continuous operation to match the workflow. The timer reaches 9,999 minutes in constant mode and 999 minutes in program mode, with an alarm available for timed work. Pause and resume without resetting the timer when you need a controlled interruption.
Up to 6 steps
Define the sequence of conditions required by your method.
30 program files
Keep recurring methods available at the bench.
Pause and resume
Resume without resetting the run timer.
The MP-510 is rated to 500 V, 800 mA and 300 W, but those voltage and current maxima are not a simultaneous operating point. A load drawing 800 mA at 500 V would require 400 W, beyond the supply's 300 W output limit. Use voltage multiplied by current in amperes to check the power demand of your intended conditions.
Select constant voltage when voltage is the protocol's target, constant current when current is the target, or constant power when the method calls for regulated watts. The other electrical values respond to the load within the selected limits. Review all three requirements across every programmed stage rather than checking only the highest voltage in the method.
The MP-510 provides four pairs of output terminals. The right-hand bank shown here contains two of those pairs; the other two are on the opposite side of the front panel. Match every connected apparatus to the run conditions and the instrument limits.
The specified protective functions include no-load and leakage detection, overload detection, over-temperature protection, and shrouded plugs and sockets. Sudden-load-change detection requires the appropriate enabling setting. Stop and isolate the output before changing equipment connections.
The Lively case is stackable, and the published instrument dimensions are approximately 215 × 335 × 104 mm. That can help you plan a station around the available bench area while keeping the display and connections accessible.
The photograph shows two separate Lively-family instruments to illustrate the case design. Each MP-510 order is for one power supply. Follow the supplied setup and ventilation instructions for the actual installation.
Choose MP-510 over MINI-500 when the method needs more than two program steps, stored program files or constant-power control. MP-510 also raises maximum current from 400 to 800 mA and maximum output power from 120 to 300 W, while both models reach 500 V.
If the method stays within 300 V but requires substantially more current, MP-320 is the stronger fit with its 3,000 mA ceiling. If 300 V, 700 mA and 150 W cover the work, MP-310 offers the same six-step, 30-file Lively programming. Choose the electrical range you need rather than treating MP-510 as a universal upgrade.

Current model
Choose the voltage, current and power envelope together. Ratings are instrument limits, not separate allowances for every terminal pair.
Catalog number MP-510 is the standalone Major Science Lively 500V electrophoresis power supply. The listing is not a complete electrophoresis apparatus or gel-workflow bundle.
Select the gel apparatus and consumables separately for your application. Before replacing an existing supply, match its working conditions and your apparatus ratings to the MP-510, including the voltage required at each programmed stage.
If the order depends on a particular lead, mains plug or carton accessory, ask Blue Tiger Scientific to confirm that requirement before purchase.
Bench tip: When transferring a multistep method, write down the mode, target, limits and duration for every stage before entering it. This makes a saved program easier to check than a list of voltage values alone.
Voltage is adjustable from 5 to 500 V in 1 V increments. Maximum output current is 800 mA and maximum output power is 300 W. The intended operating point must fit all three limits.
The published current range/increment is 1–800 mA / 10 mA. This is not a promise of selectable 1 mA steps throughout the range. If a particular fine current setting is essential to your method, ask Blue Tiger Scientific to confirm the setting behaviour before ordering.
Yes. MP-510 offers constant voltage, constant current and constant power. Select the mode specified by your method, then review the remaining parameter limits before starting.
A program can contain up to six steps, and the supply stores 30 program files. Programs are manually editable, with built-in typical running conditions available as starting points.
No. MP-510 has four pairs of output terminals, while 500 V, 800 mA and 300 W remain the instrument's maximum ratings. Plan the connected apparatus around those limits rather than multiplying them by the number of terminal pairs.
MP-510 includes automatic recovery after power failure. Account for that behaviour in your laboratory procedure and evaluate an interrupted run according to the method, including any effect of the time without power.
The supply provides no-load, leakage and overload detection, over-temperature protection, and shrouded plugs and sockets. Sudden-load-change detection requires the appropriate setting to be enabled. These features complement the apparatus's normal safety procedures.
MP-510 measures approximately 215 × 335 × 104 mm (W × L × H), weighs approximately 2.1 kg and uses 100–240 V AC, 47–60 Hz mains input. It has a stackable case and a specified operating-temperature range of 4–40°C.
