What does the FreezeTech patch show?
The manufacturer states that the patch changes color at 0°C. It is a visual temperature indicator, not a calibrated measurement of the sample core or a time-temperature history record.
What is the difference between the four catalog numbers?
C2800 and C2801 are 15 mL; C2802 and C2803 are 50 mL. C2800/C2802 come in Eco-Plastic racks and C2801/C2803 in resealable bags. All contain 20 packs of 25, or 500 tubes per case.
What maximum centrifugal force is specified?
Both volumes are rated to 20,000 × g maximum RCF. Confirm rotor and adapter fit and follow any lower sample, equipment or procedure limit. RCF is not the same as RPM.
Are ProSeries tubes sterile?
Yes. MTC Bio specifies e-beam sterilization with a sterility assurance level of 10⁻⁶. Sterility depends on the intact packaging and appropriate handling after opening.
What does the maximum freeze line mean?
It marks the maximum allowable volume for freezing inside the tube, which differs from nominal capacity. Use that line rather than filling to the nominal volume, and follow the requirements of your sample and protocol.
Can I autoclave the assembled tube and cap?
Do not assume so. The tube is polypropylene, but the cap is HDPE. Although MTC Bio lists a −80°C to 120°C temperature range, confirm closure-specific limits and the intended heating cycle before use; no assembled autoclave claim is made here.
How do these compare with Falcon 50 mL tubes?
ProSeries 50 mL models and Falcon 352070/352098 are sterile polypropylene centrifuge-tube options in 500-count cases, with bagged or racked choices. MTC Bio rates ProSeries at 20,000 × g and adds the FreezeTech patch; Corning lists 16,000 RCF for Falcon 50 mL polypropylene tubes. These specifications do not establish interchangeable rotor fit or identical assay performance. Validate before substitution.
What does one ordered unit contain?
One complete case of 500 tubes with screw caps. The selected variant determines capacity and whether the 25-count inner packs are racks or resealable bags; inventory is counted in cases.
