A Screw Closure, Not a Snap Cap
The two-position HDPE cap is designed for rotational handling rather than a traditional snap-on closure. Select the first-click or fully closed position to match your validated culture procedure.
Important: HDPE caps are not autoclavable. Tube-body temperature ratings must not be applied to the complete capped assembly.

Before You Add a Case
Check volume, material, sterility and packaging together. One cart unit is one complete case. Confirm rotor support, chemical compatibility and working conditions; do not infer strainer-cap functionality or universal instrument fit from tube dimensions.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do the two DuoClick cap positions work?
Rotate the screw cap to the first click for the aerobic position. Rotate it past the second click for the manufacturer-described leakproof, airtight closure for anaerobic culturing. A cap setting alone does not establish or validate an anaerobic culture system; follow your organism-specific protocol.
Which size should I select?
Choose 5 mL tubes in the 12 × 75 mm format or 14 mL tubes in the 17 × 100 mm format. Confirm your working volume, rack, rotor and instrument requirements rather than relying on nominal capacity alone.
How do PP and PS tubes differ?
Polypropylene (PP) tube bodies are rated by MTC Bio up to 4,000 × g and from −86°C to 121°C. Polystyrene (PS) tube bodies are rated up to 1,400 × g and from 0°C to 70°C. These are tube-material limits, not a rating for the complete capped assembly. Both use HDPE caps; validate chemical compatibility and centrifuge support for your application.
Are all versions sterile and graduated?
No. The ten 500-tube case configurations are sterile, have attached screw caps and printed graduations. T8750 (5 mL PP) and T8850 (14 mL PP) are non-sterile, non-graduated bulk cases with tubes and caps packed separately. The current manufacturer page identifies e-beam sterilization for sterile offerings.
What does one unit ordered contain?
One unit is one complete case. Sterile models contain 500 tubes: 20 bags of 25, 10 foam racks of 50, or individually wrapped tubes according to the selected catalog number. T8750 and T8850 each contain 1,000 tubes with caps supplied separately in bulk. Prices and inventory quantities refer to cases, not individual tubes.
Can I autoclave DuoClick tubes with the caps attached?
No. MTC Bio explicitly states that the HDPE DuoClick caps are not autoclavable. Do not interpret the PP tube-body temperature limit of 121°C as permission to autoclave the capped assembly. Confirm any tube-only sterilization procedure with the manufacturer and your validated laboratory protocol.
Is DuoClick an alternative to Corning Falcon 352059?
DuoClick T8830 is an option to evaluate for workflows using Falcon 352059: both are sterile 14 mL, 17 × 100 mm PP tubes with printed graduations, supplied 25 per pack and 500 per case. DuoClick uses an HDPE two-position screw cap, while Falcon 352059 uses a polyethylene dual-position snap cap. MTC Bio rates its PP tubes to 4,000 × g; Corning rates 352059 to 3,000 × g and additionally specifies RNase/DNase-free status and nonpyrogenicity testing below 0.1 EU/mL. Those additional claims are not established here for DuoClick. These are different products, not proven identical, OEM equivalents or guaranteed drop-in replacements. Validate fit and assay performance before switching.
Are these the same as strainer-cap flow cytometry tubes?
No. DuoClick uses a two-position screw closure and does not include a cell-strainer mesh. If your protocol calls for a strainer cap or specific flow cytometer fit, select a tube intended for that purpose and validate compatibility. Do not substitute based only on a 12 × 75 mm tube dimension.
