Count categories, not just keys
The six-key HS5360A includes five labeled categories plus Total. The nine-key HS5360B includes eight categories plus Total. Count your required categories before ordering; the Total position is not an additional independent sample category. The family photograph shows both layouts so you can compare their physical size.
Keep the total visible during repetitive work
Each key records up to 999, and the total window tracks strokes across the other keys. The bell sounds when the total reaches 100, giving an audible cue during repetitive counting. The operator still decides what to count and which key to press; the counter does not identify cells or colonies.
Select a layout for your method
Heathrow lists blood cells, bacterial colonies and other repetitive counting tasks. Blood-cell labels are included. Choose the model with the required category arrangement, then document the meaning of each key when using a different task. For point-of-contact colony counting, compare the separate eCount rather than expecting this benchtop unit to behave like a handheld marker.
Allow hand room around the counter
Both versions are 3 in wide and 2.2 in high, but the six-key unit is 9.8 in long and the nine-key unit 12.5 in. Leave room for comfortable key operation and the rest of the viewing setup; footprint alone does not describe the complete counting station.
