Why choose this design?

Reduce lost-place counting

Marking each colony as it is registered helps distinguish counted from uncounted colonies. An audible beep or LED flash confirms a recorded count.

Keep separate counts organized

Store up to 32 individual counts or zones and display their sum. The current manufacturer page specifies up to 999 colonies per zone.

Use it beyond pen counting

Fit the included hand-tally adapter for digital tally work. A lock function allows writing with the marker without registering additional counts.

How to choose and check fit

120000 is the complete eCount package with a black Sharpie pen, CR1225 battery, hand-tally adapter and weighted stand. Use compatible 11–12 mm permanent markers; the manual warns against inserting markers larger than 12 mm.

Applications

Manual colony counting
Zone-by-zone plate evaluation
General laboratory hand tallying

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it automatically recognize colonies?

No. It is a hand-operated marking counter, not an imaging or automatic colony-recognition system.

How many counts can it store?

Up to 32 separate counts or zones, with a sum function for reviewing their total.

How do I know a mark was counted?

Select an audible beep or LED flash. The manual advises checking confirmation with each mark.

Can I write without increasing the count?

Yes. The lock function disables counting while you use the marker for writing.

Can it work without a marker?

Yes. Fit the included hand-tally adapter to use it as a digital tally counter.

How should it be cleaned and serviced?

Wipe with a damp cloth and mild, non-corrosive detergent; do not immerse. Heathrow states a five-year limited warranty excluding battery and pen. Arrange any return through Blue Tiger.
