Measure the total fraction with a defined digestion
Select a total-phosphorus workflow when a reactive-only result is not enough. This high-range kit supports 0.0–32.6 mg/L as phosphorus (P) after persulfate digestion on a supported photometer.

Select the right method
Choose this set for total phosphorus when the required 150 °C reactor, cooling and safety workflow are available. The reactive HR set is a different fraction and does not replace this digestion.
Kit contents and practical capacity
The US listing identifies 50 HI93758V-0HR vials, one bottle each of HI93758C-0 sodium hydroxide solution and HI93763B-0 molybdovanadate reagent, and 50 potassium persulfate packets. A separate blank consumes a vial; the manuals specify up to 49 tests. Extra blanks, QC and repeats reduce yield.
Prepare, digest, cool and develop
Use 5 mL deionized water in one blank vial and 5 mL sample in another. Add one persulfate packet to each; digest in a suitable Hanna reactor at 150 °C (302 °F) for 30 minutes and cool to room temperature. Never use an oven or microwave. Add 2 mL sodium hydroxide solution to each, mix, then add 0.5 mL molybdovanadate reagent and mix. Wait 7 minutes, zero with the treated blank and read the sample. The 30-minute digestion is not the total turnaround: allow time for preparation, cooling and the 7-minute color development. Follow the full method manual for your instrument and actual kit, and the current component SDS.
Temperature and interference matter
The HI93763B-50 kit method sheet and supported instrument manuals specify digestion at 150 °C (302 °F) for 30 minutes. Allow additional time for preparation, cooling and color development; this is not a 30-minute total turnaround. Add molybdovanadate and measure at 20–25 °C. Arsenate can interfere, samples should be neutral pH, and large amounts of turbidity or suspended matter require the manual’s sample treatment.
Equipment to plan separately
Use an HI83314 or HI83399 and 16 mm vial adapter, accurate 5 mL, 2 mL and 0.5 mL measuring tools, deionized water, a reactor, safety shield, cooling rack, PPE and appropriate waste handling. The existing HI839800-01 reactor supports the specified 150 °C digestion; it is sold separately. DI water inclusion is not established by the exact US kit description.
Reporting basis and blank
The result is reported in mg/L as P. Persulfate digestion targets free, condensed inorganic and organic phosphate forms. The treated blank can be reused for one day at room temperature according to the method. Converted chemical forms are not the same numeric P range.
Compatibility and responsible handling
The direct 16 mm vial method is documented for HI83314 and HI83399. Confirm your instrument and adapter before ordering. The manufacturer identifies this offer as dangerous goods and says dangerous goods can ship only by ground; confirm destination and carrier restrictions. Follow the current component safety data sheets and the instructions for your actual lot. Photometer, accessories and handling equipment are separate.
Frequently Asked Questions
What fraction is measured?
The digestion converts forms including organic and condensed inorganic phosphates for total-phosphorus analysis, unlike a reactive-only result.
Is this a 50-sample pack?
The 50 vials support up to 49 tests because a separate treated blank is needed. QC, repeats and additional blanks reduce yield.
What temperature and time are required?
The HI93763B-50 kit method sheet and supported instrument manuals specify digestion at 150 °C (302 °F) for 30 minutes, followed by cooling and a 7-minute color-development wait. Preparation and cooling add time, so 30 minutes is not the total turnaround. Follow the full method for your instrument and actual kit. Never use an oven or microwave.
Is the reactor included?
No. The compatible HI839800-01 reactor is separate, as are the photometer, adapter and other preparation equipment.
Does this pack include a dispenser?
The US offer for HI93763B-50 specifies 50 persulfate packets. HI93763B-50D is a distinct dispenser-format set, not the packet kit offered here. Confirm the contents of your lot with Hanna.
How is the blank used?
Digest and develop a separate deionized-water blank like the sample. The manual permits reuse for one day at room temperature.
Which photometers are supported?
HI83314 and HI83399 directly document the total phosphorus HR 16 mm vial method and this reagent set. Other vial acceptance alone does not establish compatibility.
What safety and transport steps apply?
Review every current component SDS and actual lot instructions. The manufacturer labels this offer dangerous goods and says dangerous goods ship by ground only; confirm destination and carrier restrictions.
