APERA INSTRUMENTS / AI4203

Prepare the vial exterior with a light, even oil film.

TN400-S3 silicone oil is the Apera accessory for exterior care of turbidity sample and calibration vials. Apply a small drop to the outside of the vial, spread it evenly and remove excess according to the meter manual. It is not a sample additive or a calibration solution.

Why choose this accessory?

A vial-care accessory

Apera identifies TN400-S3 for care of both sample vials and standard-solution vials used in turbidity testing.

Small-drop application

The TN400 and TN480 manuals call for a small drop spread over the outside surface with a lint-free cloth, followed by removal of excess with filter paper or high-quality tissue.

Confirmed standalone quantity

The exact TN400-S3 manufacturer photograph labels the bottle Qty: 10ml. The replacement-parts tables also identify TN400-S3 as one 10 mL bottle.

Which existing setup does this accessory support?

CURRENT ITEM: AI4203

These are documented parent-meter workflows, not meters supplied with this accessory. Match the part number and required calibration or vial procedure.

Typical applications

Before calibration

Treat the exterior of standard vials and sample vials consistently. Keep sealed nonzero standard vials closed during surface care.

Between oil treatments

The parent manuals state that oil need not be applied for every calibration or reading. Follow their several-day to weekly guidance; clean the exterior between treatments as directed.

After sample-vial washing

Clean reused sample vials internally by the separate detergent-and-rinse procedure. Silicone oil is the exterior treatment, not a substitute for removing sample residue inside the vial.

AI4203 buyer questions

What is TN400-S3 used for?

It is silicone oil for exterior care of sample vials and calibration vials used in turbidity testing. Follow the applicable Apera meter instructions.

How much oil is in the bottle?

The exact standalone manufacturer photograph labels the bottle Qty: 10ml. The TN400 and TN480 replacement-parts tables independently identify TN400-S3 as one 10 mL bottle.

Do I pour the oil into my sample or standard?

No. The documented procedure applies the oil to the outside of the vial. It is not added to the liquid being measured or to the calibration standard.

How should I apply it?

Apply a small drop to the outside surface, distribute it with a lint-free cloth, then wipe off excess with filter paper or high-quality tissue as directed in the meter manual. Excess residual oil can affect measurements.

Do I need oil before every reading?

No. The TN400 and TN480 manuals say oil is not necessary for every calibration and measurement. They describe application every several days or once a week, with exterior cleaning between treatments.

Can I use it on sealed calibration vials?

Yes, on the exterior. Treat sample and calibration vial surfaces consistently. Do not open sealed nonzero standard vials to apply oil.

Does silicone oil replace washing the inside of sample vials?

No. Reused sample vials need the separate detergent-and-rinse cleaning procedure in the meter manual. Exterior oil treatment does not remove internal sample residue.

Is it a repair for damaged vials?

Do not treat oil as a repair for a damaged vial. The meter instructions require clean, scratch-free sample vials; inspect the vial and replace unsuitable ones rather than relying on oil to restore them.
