APERA INSTRUMENTS / PH60-SA / AI3727

Salty or alkaline water?
Start with the electrode.

PH60-SA is a pH kit selected around LabSen 845 for suitable strong-alkaline and high-salinity aqueous samples. Its specialized glass/reference combination addresses a different sample question from a general-purpose water probe.

Choose AI3727 when the chemistry calls for the 845 configuration. This measures pH and temperature, not salt concentration, and does not certify compatibility with every caustic or salt mixture.

TWO DIFFERENT QUESTIONS

pH in salty water is not
a salinity measurement.

The electrode selected for the sample matrix

12.45

Included US alkaline calibration buffer

The US kit supplies 4.00, 7.00 and 12.45 buffers. A regional brochure’s different buffer set does not define the US package. Confirm high-salt/alkaline chemistry and the working method rather than reading a maximum salt concentration into the application name.

Exact PH60-SA kit diagram from its currentUS manufacturer manual
Manufacturer kit diagram. The text checklist provides readable ordering details; solution volumes are not assumed from other regions.

Know the exact probe
and standards in the case.

PH60 meter body, LabSen 845 external pH/temperature electrode, CalPod solution organizer, pH 4.00, 7.00 and 12.45 buffers, 3M KCl storage solution, protective cap, instructions and carrying case. Four AAA batteries are factory-installed per the model’s preparation instructions.

The current US kit buffer set is pH 4.00, 7.00 and 12.45. Match that working set to your sample and calibration method; do not assume every specialized PH60 package contains the same buffers.

SAMPLE FIT BEFORE FEATURE COUNT

Where this configuration fits.

Strong-alkaline samples

Match the exact chemistry and pH method to the probe. The supplied US buffer set includes 12.45 for this configuration.

High-salinity water

Use pH sensing appropriate to the ionic matrix. The meter does not produce a salinity result simply because the sample contains salt.

General aqueous comparison

Keep calibration, temperature and sample handling consistent when comparing a difficult matrix with ordinary water.

The electrode is the specialized part.

Specialized alkaline-sample glass and polymer reference; non-refillable. The open junction and its sample contact are part of the method, not a universal chemical-compatibility or maintenance-free guarantee.

Manufacturer high-salt positioning is not a verified maximum salinity or a chemical-compatibility list. A pH glass selection is not a conductivity or salinity measurement mode.

Manufacturer PH60-SA sample/probe reference illustration
Reference imagery illustrates the application or technology. The supplied exact probe is LabSen 845.

Set up the method before chasing the number.

Use the current US set 4.00/7.00/12.45 and the manufacturer’s calibration procedure appropriate to the expected sample. Confirm matrix and exposure conditions for the 845 rather than selecting from the meter’s broad display range.

Calibrate the pH system

Use the specified kit buffers and current instructions. Start at neutral as directed, then choose the appropriate additional points. Do not infer an included ORP or EC probe.

Make the right contact

Keep glass and junction in contact with a representative sample, limit carryover, and wait for a stable reading under the defined method.

Meter electronics and sample suitability are different.

The current US specialized-kit manual specifies a PH60 display range of -2.00 to 16.00 pH, 0.01 pH resolution and ±0.01 pH ±1 digit meter accuracy. Those numbers do not by themselves establish probe-range, chemical compatibility or total method accuracy.

Temperature measurement/ATC is 0-100 °C in these current US kit instructions. A higher electrode-only temperature figure does not extend that electronic interval or validate every part of the assembly in the sample.

This probe’s temperature context

Meter/ATC 0-100 °C in current US kit manual; electrode-only higher figures do not extend the complete kit

Storage solution is not a refill instruction.

The listed LabSen 845 is non-refillable. Its internal reference/electrolyte description is separate from the external 3M KCl storage vial. Do not open/refill the reference because a chemical name appears in a table.

Rinse before and after measurements without rubbing the glass. Use contaminant-specific manufacturer care rather than an improvised chemical recipe; after deep cleaning follow the required rehydration and recalibration sequence.

Store the probe in its tightly closed vial with the specified 3M KCl solution, not tap, RO, distilled or deionized water. Keep solution fresh and the connector clean/dry. A dry or poorly stored probe needs the model’s recovery routine before calibration.

See the LabSen family technology.

Apera’s electrode-family introduction explains the general technology. It is not an exact PH60-SA operating tutorial; use this kit’s current manual for sample preparation, limits and care.

Related general-water measurement workflows.

These are separate instruments for different water-measurement tasks, not substitute specialized electrodes for PH60-SA. A general-water meter link does not establish HF, caustic, hot-process or direct-food compatibility.

PH60-SA buying and method questions

Does PH60-SA measure salinity?

No. It measures pH and temperature with LabSen 845. High-salinity suitability describes the sample context, not an included salinity readout.

What buffers come in the US AI3727 kit?

The current US manual/page list pH 4.00, 7.00 and 12.45. Do not substitute the 10.01 set from a regional brochure as the supplied US kit contents.

What other items are included?

PH60, LabSen 845, CalPod, 3M KCl storage solution, cap, instructions and case are listed, with installed four AAA batteries indicated by the preparation instructions.

Can it test any strongly alkaline or salty formulation?

No maximum salinity or universal species/caustic compatibility is verified. Confirm the actual matrix and conditions against current 845 guidance before selection.

Is the electrode refillable?

No. The 845 is non-refillable. Polymer/internal electrolyte terminology is separate from the 3M KCl solution used in the storage vial.

Why not use the meter’s entire -2 to 16 pH range as the probe range?

That is an electronic display range, not an unrestricted sample-range claim for the 845. Select the electrode and method against their own limits.

Can a 130 °C probe rating extend PH60 temperature compensation?

No. Current US meter/ATC specification is 0-100 °C, and electrode source ratings differ. A higher probe-only figure does not validate the entire assembly at that temperature.

Which replacement and storage routine apply?

Use LabSen 845, AI3237, with its 8-pin connection. Store in the specified 3M KCl vial and follow the current cleaning/rehydration/calibration directions, not pure-water storage.

Match the sample.
Confirm the exact kit.
