Precision Conductivity, TDS, Resistivity, and Salinity Meter for High Purity Water Analysis

The HI98197 portable meter is expertly engineered for exceptional accuracy in measuring conductivity (EC), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), resistivity, and salinity, with a specific emphasis on the critical analysis of high purity water. This advanced system is supplied with the specialized HI763123 four-ring conductivity probe, which not only provides an ultra-high 0.001 µS/cm resolution but also features screw-type threads for seamless integration with the included HI605453 AISI 316 stainless steel flow cell, ideal for continuous monitoring applications. The probe incorporates an integrated temperature sensor and a user-adjustable temperature coefficient, ensuring precise readings across its entire measurement range with a single sensor. The innovative four-ring technology effectively eliminates polarization effects commonly observed in standard two-pole probes. Connection to the meter is secure and straightforward via a quick-connect waterproof DIN connector, allowing for easy attachment and removal without the need for threaded connections.

Accurate measurement of high purity water, vital in industries such as power generation and semiconductor manufacturing, can be particularly challenging due to the potential absorption of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO₂), leading to the formation of carbonic acid (H₂CO₃). The subsequent dissociation into hydrogen (H+) and bicarbonate (HCO₃-) ions can increase conductivity and decrease resistivity. To overcome this, the HI98197, when used with its threaded four-ring probe and stainless steel flow cell, facilitates continuous flow analysis. By directly connecting to the water source, users can obtain highly reliable, real-time conductivity or resistivity readings, crucial for monitoring the performance of systems like mixed bed resin beds that produce ultra-pure water at the industry standard of 18.2 MΩ⋅cm at 25 °C.

Key Features:

  • Expanded Measurement Ranges: Comprehensive measurement of conductivity (0.000 µS/cm to 1000 mS/cm, with temperature compensation up to 400 mS/cm), TDS, resistivity, and three salinity scales. Features automatic probe recognition and user-adjustable cell constant.
  • USP <645> Compliance: Designed to perform all three stages of the USP <645> method for conductivity measurement of ultrapure water, with integrated report generation.
  • Advanced 5-Point Calibration: Offers up to five-point calibration for conductivity using seven pre-programmed standards, and a convenient one-point calibration for salinity (% NaCl range) with the HI7037 standard.
  • Customizable Temperature Compensation: Provides a choice of linear, non-linear (natural water), or no temperature compensation, with an adjustable coefficient (0.00 to 10.00%/°C) and selectable reference temperatures (15°C, 20°C, 25°C).
  • Adjustable TDS Conversion Factor: The conductivity to TDS conversion factor can be adjusted from 0.40 to 1.00 for accurate TDS readings across various solutions.
  • User-Configurable Profiles: Allows the creation and saving of up to 10 measurement profiles with customized settings for temperature compensation, range selection, cell constant, and TDS conversion factor.
  • Comprehensive Data Logging: Supports both log-on-demand (up to 400 readings) and interval-based lot logging (up to 1000 readings), with easy data transfer to a PC using the HI920015 micro USB cable and HI92000 software.
  • GLP Data Management: Features a dedicated GLP key for immediate access to Good Laboratory Practice data, including date, time, standards used, temperature compensation parameters, reference temperature, and TDS conversion factor.
  • Integrated Contextual Help: Provides on-screen, context-specific help information at the touch of a dedicated button, ensuring ease of use and understanding.
  • High-Contrast Graphic LCD: The display is designed for excellent readability in all lighting conditions, with a backlight function and an intuitive interface utilizing both dedicated and virtual keys, available in multiple languages.
  • Durable Carrying Case: Supplied with a robust and compact thermoformed carrying case to securely store and transport the meter, probe, beakers, and calibration standards for convenient field use.
