A soil-colloids scale, not a density substitute

The 67152H is manufactured to ASTM 152H specifications and measures soil colloids in grams on its scale. Choose it for a method that calls for that output. It is not interchangeable simply by appearance with the ASTM 151H specific-gravity hydrometer: recording a density number and recording a soil-colloids scale value are different tasks.

Set up the suspension and cylinder consistently

The manufacturer identifies sedimentation-cylinder use for soil analysis. Check that your methodโ€™s cylinder gives the approximately 11-inch (280 mm) instrument adequate depth and side clearance. The published calibration temperature is 20ยฐC (68ยฐF).
