Mussel Adhesive Protein (MAP) is a bioinspired adhesive derived from the foot proteins of Mytilus edulis, known for its robust wet adhesion properties. This recombinant formulation is supplied as a lyophilized powder and reconstitutes for use in surface coating applications, enabling immobilization of cells, tissues, and biomaterials under aqueous conditions.

MAP exhibits strong interfacial binding through catechol-mediated crosslinking and DOPA-rich domains, making it a versatile tool in regenerative medicine, implant surface modification, and scaffold fixation. Its biocompatibility and tunable adhesion have been validated across dental, vascular, and dermal models, with emerging applications in microneedle bandages and electrospun nanofiber composites.
