A viewing area, not the whole housing

The useful comparison for a slide, dish or plate is the illuminated 125 × 100 mm area. The larger 158 × 150 mm housing includes the surrounding frame. Check the part of your sample you need to inspect against the viewing area rather than assuming the entire footprint is illuminated.

For quick inspection at the point of work

Heathrow lists 96-well plates, Petri dishes, electrophoresis gels, slides and transparencies as screening applications. The LED source is specified at 5, 300 K ±270 K. This is a viewing light: no UV illumination, image capture, analytical sensitivity or quantitative measurement capability is specified. Choose it for visibility, not as a substitute for a method-specific detection instrument.

Keep the bench available between checks

At 14 mm high, the panel can be stored in a suitable drawer when not needed. Allow space for the sample and comfortable viewing in addition to the housing footprint. Battery power makes the unit useful where a small viewing station is more practical than a permanent installation.
