IKA VACSTAR CONTROL • US ORDER 0020109376 • 100–240 V

Put vacuum control at the pump, and keep the method in view.

The IKA VACSTAR control combines a dry four-chamber diaphragm vacuum pump with an integrated vacuum controller, ceramic pressure sensor and removable WiCo display. Select a pressure target, use automatic boiling-point detection under suitable conditions, or work with defined pressure-time programs.

Its separate reference ratings are 22 L/min maximum pumping rate and 2 mbar ultimate pressure without gas ballast. Those are not a promise of 22 L/min flow at 2 mbar. Your apparatus, leaks, vapour load and protection equipment determine the actual operating point.

US order 0020109376 is rated 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz. It is a controlled laboratory vacuum source, not a liquid-transfer pump, pressure pump or universal solution for hazardous gases.

Is VACSTAR control the right vacuum source?

Controlled laboratory evacuation

For suitable separation, filtration, drying and rotary-evaporation workflows. Define the target pressure and vapour load before choosing the pump; a final-pressure headline is not a throughput specification.

You want pressure control at the pump

The controller and sensor are part of this model. A separate external vacuum controller is not established as necessary for ordinary standalone pump operation.

You can protect the pump and the room

Use appropriate liquid separation, vapour management and an unrestricted exhaust route. A condensate trap and downstream emission treatment perform different jobs.

The gas service is permitted

Check the actual wetted materials and manufacturer restrictions. Chemical-resistant construction is not approval to pump liquids, explosive or corrosive gases, or to work in an explosive atmosphere.

What is included in US order 0020109376?

Pump, WiCo and the current listed US accessories

  • VACSTAR control diaphragm pump with integrated vacuum controller and pressure sensor.
  • Removable WiCo controller.
  • Vacuum hose, 1 m.
  • WH11 and OS 1.0 WiCo power supply.
  • USB A to Micro-B cable, 2 m, and USB A–B cable.
  • Screwdriver.

The operating manual also shows a power-cord set, cover, bracket, receiving flask, spherical clamp and a short connection hose. Its illustrations are not a substitute for confirming the current US factory assembly or exact regional packing.

A separate VSE 1 accessory is not promised as included. The current US description calls VSE 1 an accessory, while its technical table marks emission condenser and condensate trap as present. The manual depicts additional receiving hardware and also lists VSE 1 as an accessory. Confirm the exact supplied assembly and any additional required items before ordering for an emissions-critical method.

VSE 1 accessory, US catalog 0035001873, shown for selection only. This page does not promise an additional separate VSE 1 unit, nor claim that the pump ships without any condensate or emission hardware.

Read pumping rate, ultimate pressure and sensor range separately

Buyer guide distinguishing 22 L per minute maximum, 2 mbar ultimate vacuum and 1 mbar sensor resolution
Original guide based on IKA specifications. These are different quantities, not a simultaneous performance point or a guarantee for a connected apparatus.

The system load decides what happens between the endpoints

22 L/min, or 1.32 m³/h, is the maximum pumping-rate reference. The 2 mbar final-pressure value is specified without gas ballast. Do not combine the two as guaranteed suction performance at the lowest pressure.

The ceramic Al₂O₃ sensor has a stated 1–1,030 mbar absolute measurement range, 1 mbar resolution and 1 mbar measurement uncertainty. The web table’s control-range figure does not turn this into a pump guaranteed to reach 1 mbar.

Leaks, restrictions, condensable vapours, apparatus volume and method conditions all influence evacuation and regulation. The pump is a rough-vacuum laboratory source, not an oil-sealed high-vacuum pump or a promise of any particular evaporation rate.

Choose the control mode that matches the method

Pressure control is not the same as fixed pumping output

  • Automatic: boiling-point recognition for a suitable, thermally stable evaporation method. The manual requires a constant thermal condition for rotary-evaporation use; this is not universal recognition of every mixture.
  • Manual: enter the pressure target within permitted settings and the pump’s achievable limits.
  • Pump %: select pumping output rather than assume a fixed pressure.
  • Program: create up to ten user-defined pressure-time profiles, each with up to ten segments.

The solvent library helps relate stored solvent pressure and temperature information. It does not establish compatibility with every solvent, identify an unknown mixture, provide a sample-temperature probe or replace method development.

The manual states that the timer function is disabled in Automatic and Program modes. Nominal drive-speed data is 285–1,200 rpm, while automatic regulation can reduce pumping to zero when the target and system leak rate allow it. No fixed minimum running speed is promised at a stable target.

VACSTAR mode-selection guide: Automatic, Manual, Pump percent and Program
Original mode overview. Timer restrictions and the connected apparatus’s operating limits still apply.

WiCo: local controls, removable display and deliberate safety settings

Enlarged crop of the real VACSTAR control WiCo screen and operating knob
Actual manufacturer-photo crop. Screen values are illustrative settings, not a validated process or proof of temperature-measuring equipment in the box.

A computer and internet connection are not required for local operation

Operate the pump through WiCo on the station or in an appropriately configured remote position. The manual describes Bluetooth communication up to 150 m depending on the building. That is not a guaranteed laboratory range, internet access or a cloud-control service. Wireless use must comply with the device’s regional radio approval; otherwise keep WiCo on the station.

Loss of WiCo communication is not a universal automatic shutdown. Timeout, safety-pressure and safety-pump-rate settings affect what happens after a communication failure or battery depletion. Configure them for the process and retain access to the station’s stopping controls. If vibration requires it, secure WiCo as directed or position it remotely.

USB-B and RS-232 support separately configured computer workflows. Any software license and required optional communication cable are separate selections. No validated electronic-recordkeeping or regulatory-compliance claim is made.

Separate liquid protection from exhaust-vapour management

Planning guide separating upstream liquid protection, the diaphragm pump and downstream exhaust management
Original planning overview, not a piping diagram or verified bill of materials. Choose the actual assembly under the pump, accessory and apparatus instructions.

A trap before the pump does not replace a safe exhaust route

Arrange the process so liquid, condensate and solids cannot enter the pump chambers. The manual calls for suitable upstream condensate separation, such as a Woulff-bottle arrangement, and routing that prevents liquid carryover. The receiving hardware shown with a pump does not prove that every upstream protection function is already installed.

Downstream condensation addresses vapours leaving the pump. Where VSE 1 is selected, follow its instructions and maintain free coolant flow. A cooling source, coolant connections and a complete application-specific installation are not promised by an accessory name or a Yes field in a table.

Keep the exhaust unrestricted and routed to a suitable fume hood. The manual limits the exhaust line to 2 m and requires it to remain free of kinks. Do not throttle or close the discharge. Neither this listing nor a condenser specification guarantees zero emissions or replaces appropriate ventilation.

Installation and media limits are part of the buying decision

Check more than the nominal vacuum number

  • Use a stable, dry, level, non-slip and fire-resistant indoor bench with ventilation openings unobstructed. Operate the pump upright, and do not mount it above a heating bath.
  • The pump uses 8 mm suction and discharge connection references. Select matching vacuum-rated flexible hoses, secure connections and suitable apparatus; do not identify ports from a diagram number alone.
  • Published input-pressure data is 2–1,030 mbar. The manual’s 1,100 mbar maximum at gas inlet/outlet is a safety ceiling, not permission to use this as a compressor. The sensor’s separate 1.2 bar maximum is not a system operating allowance.
  • Do not pump liquids or evacuate explosive or corrosive gases. Do not use in explosive atmospheres, underwater or for biological habitats. Prevent liquids and solids entering the diaphragm chambers.
  • Stop and disconnect mains before installation changes or external cleaning. Keep the power connection accessible and check the rating plate against the supply.

Materials named in manufacturer data include Al₂O₃, PTFE and PPS, but the short list and detailed manual differ in elastomer nomenclature. Confirm the exact current seals and diaphragms for chemically critical service instead of assuming that all wetted parts are PTFE or universally solvent resistant.

Related equipment: do not buy a second pump by mistake

RV 10 digital pro V-C Complete

IKA lists this family as compatible, but the existing Complete package already includes a vacuum-pump arrangement. This listing is not a recommendation to add a second pump. Any alternate-pump/controller arrangement needs separate review.

LR 1000 laboratory reactors

IKA’s compatibility list names LR1000 basic and control systems. Connections, vessel vacuum limits, seals, liquid protection and the actual process must still be checked. A compatibility listing is not a turnkey reactor vacuum installation.

Other laboratory vacuum tasks

Choose a separately specified pump/controller format if you do not need these control features or need a different gas-service, throughput or final-pressure range. Do not assume any pump with an 8 mm connector is interchangeable.

Related workflow: RV 10 digital pro V-C Complete, with its own included vacuum equipment.

Related workflow: LR 1000 control reactor for a separately specified vacuum application.

Alternative format: LR 1000 basic reactor with its own process and connection limits.

Care, warranty and delivery planning

Inspect hoses, seals, connections and receiving hardware for damage or contamination. The manual describes no-load air purging at the end of a process, approximately three up to a maximum of five minutes, and separately configurable Cleaning-mode settings. That is pump-purging guidance, not a liquid-wash, disinfection or sterility cycle. Keep discharged vapours safely captured and follow the complete procedure.

For external cleaning, disconnect mains and prevent moisture entering the device. Do not immerse the powered unit. Diaphragms, valves and seals are wear-related service items; a dry pump is not maintenance-free. Use IKA’s service and decontamination procedures for repairs.

The operating manual gives a 24-month warranty baseline under IKA terms, excluding wear and improper use or care. Any registration extension depends on current exact-model terms. Blue Tiger handles purchases and return requests; IKA handles manufacturer warranty assessment, technical support, calibration and repairs.

Shipping uses a documented 45 lb provisional package-planning allowance, not the published 14 kg device mass as verified boxed weight. Actual cartons, dimensions, carrier handling, supplier availability and dispatch require confirmation. Store inventory is not evidence of manufacturer warehouse stock.

Specify the vacuum task and the complete protection route

For VACSTAR control / US 0020109376, tell Blue Tiger the apparatus, target pressure, expected vapour load, media, hose route and existing condensate/emissions hardware. We can coordinate configuration and application questions with IKA. Name the exact kit if you already own a Complete rotary evaporator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does VACSTAR control 0020109376 include the controller and a separate VSE 1?

The vacuum controller, ceramic sensor and removable WiCo belong to VACSTAR control. The current US scope also lists a 1 m vacuum hose, WH11, OS 1.0 WiCo supply, USB leads and screwdriver. A separate VSE 1 accessory is not promised as included. The manufacturer description calls it an accessory while the table marks emission/condensate features as present; the manual also depicts receiving hardware. Confirm the exact current assembly for an emissions-critical method. Do not assume either that a separate VSE 1 is supplied or that no condensate/emission hardware is fitted.

Does it deliver 22 L/min at 2 mbar?

Do not combine those endpoints. IKA specifies a 22 L/min maximum pumping rate and 2 mbar ultimate pressure without gas ballast. They do not establish22 L/min at 2 mbar under a solvent load. Apparatus volume, leaks, hose restrictions, vapour load and method conditions determine actual performance.

Can it reach 1 mbar because the sensor and control range start at 1 mbar?

The stated 1–1,030 mbar sensor range and1 mbar resolution are not the pump’s ultimate-pressure specification. The pump is specified at 2 mbar without gas ballast. The manufacturer lists 1 mbar measurement uncertainty, which is different from resolution and does not guarantee a particular process result.

Can I pump liquids, corrosive gases or any solvent because it is chemically resistant?

No. The manual prohibits liquid pumping, explosive or corrosive gases and explosive atmospheres. Prevent liquid and solid carryover, provide the required liquid/vapour protection and confirm exact wetted-material compatibility. Chemical-resistant construction and a solvent-library entry do not authorize unrestricted gas or solvent service.

Which modes and programs are available, and does the timer work in every mode?

Automatic supports boiling-point recognition under suitable stable conditions; Manual sets a pressure target; Pump % selects pumping output; Program supports up to 10 profiles with up to 10 segments each. The manual states the timer is disabled in Automatic and Program modes. Stored solvent data is method assistance, not a universal mixture-identification or compatibility guarantee.

Do I need this as an extra pump for RV 10 digital pro V-C Complete 0010012821?

Not by default. That existing Complete package already supplies vacuum equipment. IKA lists the product family as compatible, but this separate pump listing does not establish a need for another pump or a drop-in controller change. Review the existing pump/controller arrangement, connections and method before selecting a different vacuum source.

Is a condensate trap enough, and how should the exhaust be handled?

Upstream separation protects the pump against liquid carryover; downstream condensation manages exhaust vapours. Confirm the actual supplied assembly and additional protection needed for your method. Route an unrestricted, unkinked exhaust line to a suitable fume hood, with the manual’s2 m maximum exhaust-line length. Do not close or throttle the discharge. A condenser does not establish zero emissions or remove ventilation requirements.

Do I need a PC, and will the pump always stop if the WiCo battery or wireless link fails?

A PC or internet connection is not needed for local WiCo operation. Wireless range is building-dependent, up to 150 m per the manual, and regional radio approval applies. Communication loss or battery depletion does not guarantee shutdown: configured timeout and safety settings may allow continued pumping. Set safe behavior for the method and retain accessible station stopping controls. Optional software licenses and cables are not automatically included.
