IKA RV 10 DIGITAL PRO V-C COMPLETE • 0010012821 • 115 V

Evaporation, vacuum and cooling. One defined system.

Build a rotary evaporation setup around a coordinated package instead of selecting the evaporator, vacuum equipment and chiller separately. IKA catalog 0010012821 combines the RV 10 digital, HB digital heating bath, coated vertical glassware, VACSTAR digital pump, VC 10 lite controller and RC 2 lite recirculating chiller.

This is the manufacturer-listed 115 V, 50/60 Hz Complete configuration, with 1 L evaporating and receiving flasks and the listed stand, hose set and data cable. It is not the evaporator-only purchase configuration and not the RV 10 Auto model.

For research laboratories concentrating solutions, exchanging solvents or recovering solvent under a method suited to the equipment. Choose operating conditions for your material, cooling load and laboratory safety requirements.

2 mbarVACSTAR digital rated final pressure

What is included with 0010012821?

The package brings together the main evaporation, vacuum-control and cooling components. The heating bath is included in the evaporator assembly described by IKA; the glassware set is the coated RV 10.910 configuration.

Evaporation and collection

RV 10 digital FLEX assembly with HB digital heating bath, plus RV 10.910 coated vertical glassware. The package description identifies a 1 L evaporating flask and a 1 L receiving flask.

Vacuum and control

VACSTAR digital diaphragm vacuum pump, VC 10 lite vacuum controller and VC 10.400 stand. The controller supports manual vacuum settings and programmed operation with the supplied pump.

Cooling and connections

RC 2 lite recirculating chiller, RV 10.5005 hose set and PC 1.3 cable. These are the manufacturer-listed package connections, not an invitation to substitute arbitrary hoses or power arrangements.

Not an all-consumables or all-site-services bundle. Do not assume cooling fluid, exhaust treatment, software licensing or facility electrical work is supplied. VSE 1 emission condenser is not in this package’s delivery list. Confirm any method-specific additions before ordering.

How the evaporation workflow fits together

Conceptual rotary evaporation workflow: RV 10 and HB digital warm and rotate, vertical condenser condenses vapor, receiver collects condensate; VACSTAR and VC 10 provide vacuum, RC 2 lite cools condenser
Original explanatory diagram. It shows system roles, not a tubing schematic or installation instructions. Essential steps are also explained in text.

Warm. Rotate. Condense. Collect.

The bath supplies heat to the rotating evaporating flask. Reduced pressure supports evaporation at conditions selected for the solvent and sample. Vapor passes into the cooled condenser and collects as liquid in the receiving flask.

  • RV 10 digital: rotation and motorized positioning of the evaporating flask.
  • HB digital: controlled bath temperature, with a suitable tempering medium.
  • Coated condenser and receiver: cooling surface and condensate collection.
  • VACSTAR digital with VC 10 lite: vacuum generation and control.
  • RC 2 lite: recirculating cooling to the condenser.

Pump final pressure is a component rating, not a promise that every solvent, vessel load or operating system will run at 2 mbar. Balance heat input, vacuum and cooling rather than choosing the strongest setting on every device.

Why choose this RV 10 digital package?

Motorized positioning, with repeatable operating controls

The RV 10 digital provides a 5–280 rpm speed range, reversible rotation, smooth start, timer and left-right interval capability. Its motorized lift has a 140 mm stroke, with an adjustable lower end stop to protect the flask from contacting the bath bottom.

IKA describes automatic lift-out on power loss, adjustable safety temperature, dry-run protection and a bath-setting lock. These are safeguards, not permission for unattended operation or a substitute for pre-use checks. The lift-out function is load-dependent; the drive manual requires a daily safety-lift test with the installed setup.

The drive communicates with the bath by IR. An RS 232 interface supports compatible external software control; a software license is not listed in the supplied package.

Close-up cropped from the manufacturer’s complete-system photograph. Display values are illustrative, not recommended process settings.

Vacuum: VACSTAR digital, not VACSTAR lite

Included VACSTAR digital diaphragm vacuum pump, manufacturer photograph
VACSTAR digital is included. Its rated 2 mbar final pressure is not a guaranteed process pressure for every solvent.

A defined pump and controller pairing

The included VACSTAR digital is rated at a 2 mbar final pressure and a maximum delivery rate of 22 L/min. The VC 10 lite provides the matching manual and programmable control, rather than relying on the pump alone as a complete method.

The pump must be protected from liquid carryover and used with appropriate exhaust arrangements. Follow the manual for tubing, condensate management and compatible materials. Do not close, throttle or obstruct the exhaust outlet.

Exhaust management is a separate safety decision. The pump instructions call for operation in a functioning extractor hood or exhaust routing to one. An optional emission condenser is not automatically included simply because the system contains a vacuum pump.

Control: programmable vacuum is not automatic boiling-point detection

The “pro” package name does not change the controller model

This package includes VC 10 lite. It supports manual vacuum settings and programmed pressure/time operation. A PC 1.3 cable provides device communication with the chiller, as specified in the controller instructions.

Do not confuse it with VC 10 pro, VACSTAR control or the integrated controller of RV 10 Auto. The shared VC 10 manual assigns automatic boiling-point recognition to the pro controller, not the included lite model.

Choose this configuration when a defined digital workflow is appropriate. If integrated automatic vacuum operation is central to the method, compare the exact RV 10 Auto configuration rather than assuming that feature is hidden in this kit.

Included IKA VC 10 lite vacuum controller, manufacturer photograph
VC 10 lite is included; VC 10 pro is a different controller. The photograph’s display is illustrative.

Cooling: size the method for the chiller, not just its headline rating

Included IKA RC 2 lite recirculating chiller, manufacturer photograph
RC 2 lite is included. Its cooling output depends on operating temperature and conditions; cooling fluid is not established as included.

400 W at +20 °C does not mean 400 W at −10 °C

The RC 2 lite provides recirculating condenser cooling down to −10 °C within its stated operating conditions. Its manual lists 400 W cooling capacity at +20 °C, 350 W at +10 °C, 250 W at 0 °C and 140 W at −10 °C, according to DIN 12876.

This matters when choosing condenser temperature and evaporation rate. A colder setpoint reduces available cooling output; flask capacity alone does not establish the achievable solvent throughput.

Use a suitable cooling fluid, maintain the required liquid level and keep the stainless mesh filter clean. The RC 2 lite uses R290 refrigerant and requires a ventilated installation with the specified clearances. Do not place it in an unventilated cabinet.

Which RV 10 configuration do I need?

RV 10 package selection guide with exact catalogs: base 0010005184, coated complete 0010012821, Auto complete 0010007358 and Starter 0010014396 electrical check
Original model-selection guide. These are separate manufacturer configurations, not selectable options or extra items included in this order.

Already own suitable vacuum and cooling?

RV 10 digital V, US 0010005184, is a different order containing the evaporator, bath and standard vertical glassware. Its delivery scope does not include a pump or chiller. Verify any existing peripherals rather than assuming universal compatibility.

Need this coated complete system?

Choose 0010012821 for the manufacturer-listed 115 V Complete package with RV 10.910 coated glassware, VACSTAR digital, VC 10 lite and RC 2 lite. This page supplies one defined configuration, not a choice of regional versions.

Need integrated automation?

RV 10 auto pro V-C Complete, US 0010007358, is a separate 115 V system with integrated vacuum control and additional automated functions. Do not attribute those Auto functions to the digital kit.

Considering the Starter Solution?

RV 10 digital V Starter Solution, 0010014396, uses standard glassware and VACSTAR lite, rated to 9 mbar. IKA’s current US technical page lists 220–240 V. Confirm the intended electrical configuration rather than assuming every US-priced package is 115 V.

Applications this package can support

Solution concentration

Reduce solvent volume in a research method using appropriately selected bath temperature, pressure and cooling. Check material compatibility and sample sensitivity before committing to operating conditions.

Solvent exchange and work-up

Use a controlled evaporation step as part of a validated laboratory work-up. The included 1 L flask size is a vessel capacity, not a promise of a 1 L working charge or any particular processing rate.

Solvent recovery and distillation

Collect condensed solvent through the vertical condenser and receiver. Recovery depends on vapor load, cooling, leaks and solvent properties; the package does not promise a universal recovery percentage.

For research laboratory use by trained personnel. The system is not explosion-proof and is not represented here as clinical, medical, diagnostic or production-scale equipment.

Prepare the bench before the delivery arrives

Electrical and space checks

IKA lists this package as 115 V, 50/60 Hz. Each powered component has its own requirements. Match every delivered rating plate, protective earth and circuit capacity; do not treat the kit as a single-plug appliance. Allow room for the glass assembly, bath, pump, controller, chiller and safe access.

Chiller installation

The RC 2 lite manual specifies at least 20 cm free space at the front and rear and a minimum room volume of 9.5 m³. Its allowed ambient range is +5 to +32 °C. Follow the R290 ventilation and installation requirements, not just the evaporator’s ambient-temperature rating.

Glassware, fluid and exhaust

Inspect glass and seals before use, establish cooling and fluid levels, and arrange safe pump exhaust. Coated glassware is not unbreakable and does not establish compatibility with every chemical. Request joint details if matching existing glassware is essential.

Bath fill is a setup decision, not the size printed in marketing. Use the supplied bath’s fill marks and instructions, allowing for displacement by the immersed flask. Check the actual supplied bath rather than using its nominal vessel size to decide the permitted fill.

A practical first-run sequence

  • Inspect the glassware, seals, hoses and mounting; set the lower lift stop and test the safety-lift function as the drive manual requires.
  • Confirm the tempering medium, cooling fluid, exhaust arrangement and all electrical connections before heating or applying vacuum.
  • Start from method-appropriate settings. Observe the sample while establishing rotation, heat, cooling and reduced pressure; do not assume the pump’s lowest pressure is the right starting point.
  • Vent and stop in the prescribed sequence before removing the flask. Allow hot equipment and fluids to cool before handling or filling.
  • After use, follow the component cleaning and pump-care procedures. Disconnect electrical devices before cleaning and keep moisture out of their housings.

The RV 10 manual says not to fill an evaporating flask more than half its volume. That is a loading ceiling, not a guaranteed suitable charge for a foaming, bumping or otherwise difficult sample. Read the operating instructions for the installed equipment before use.

If the process is not behaving as expected

Foaming or bumping

Reduce the severity of the conditions and reassess flask loading, heat input and how vacuum is applied. Do not try to fix carryover by choosing the maximum pump performance. Follow the method and equipment instructions.

Weak condensation or poor recovery

Check condenser cooling, fluid flow, vapor load and the temperature-dependent chiller capacity. A −10 °C setpoint is not a 400 W cooling condition. Inspect the setup for leaks before assuming a hardware upgrade is necessary.

Unstable vacuum or rising pump load

Inspect tubing, seals and condensate management with the system safely stopped. Keep exhaust unobstructed and use the prescribed pump-care procedures. Contact IKA for technical service rather than opening electrical or refrigeration systems.

For a separate solution-preparation step, review the Related workflow: IKA C-MAG HS 7 digital magnetic hotplate stirrer, using only methods and materials permitted by its own instructions.

Related workflow: Heathrow Scientific borosilicate glass beakers offer separate general laboratory handling formats. Beakers are not substitutes for the supplied vacuum-rated rotary-evaporator glassware. Neither linked product is included in this kit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What comes with IKA RV 10 digital pro V-C Complete, 0010012821?

The package includes the RV 10 digital FLEX assembly with HB digital bath, RV 10.910 coated vertical glassware with 1 L evaporating and receiving flasks, VACSTAR digital pump, VC 10 lite controller, VC 10.400 stand, RC 2 lite chiller, RV 10.5005 hose set and PC 1.3 cable. Cooling fluid, facility services and additional exhaust treatment must not be assumed included.

Is catalog 0010012821 the 115 V kit or the 220–240 V Starter?

IKA lists 0010012821 as the 115 V, 50/60 Hz digital pro V-C Complete configuration. The separate Starter Solution 0010014396 currently lists 220–240 V on IKA’s US technical page. Match the exact order code and each delivered component’s rating plate; these kits are not interchangeable regional options on this page.

Why is this different from RV 10 digital V, 0010005184?

The 115 V standalone digital V order 0010005184 includes the evaporator, bath and standard vertical glassware, but no pump or chiller. Complete kit 0010012821 adds VACSTAR digital, VC 10 lite, RC 2 lite and the listed connections, and specifies coated RV 10.910 glassware.

Does “pro V-C Complete” mean automatic boiling-point detection?

No. This kit has VC 10 lite for manual and programmed vacuum operation. The shared controller manual assigns automatic boiling-point recognition to VC 10 pro, not lite. RV 10 auto pro V-C Complete, 0010007358, is a separate system with integrated control and additional automated functions.

Will the VACSTAR digital hold my process at 2 mbar with any solvent?

No universal process pressure is promised. The 2 mbar value is the pump’s rated final pressure. Achievable system pressure depends on vapor load, leaks, temperature, solvent properties and the installed setup. Check wetted-material compatibility, condensate management and safe exhaust requirements for the actual method.

Can I process a full 1 L batch because the supplied flask is 1 L?

Not on that basis. The supplied 1 L flask capacity is not the working charge. The RV 10 manual says not to fill an evaporating flask more than halfway, and difficult samples may require a lower charge. Choose loading and operating conditions for the sample, foam, bumping risk and all equipment limits.

Does the RC 2 lite provide 400 W of cooling at −10 °C?

No. The RC 2 lite manual lists 400 W at +20 °C and 140 W at −10 °C, with 350 W at +10 °C and 250 W at 0 °C. Cooling demand and operating conditions must be matched to those temperature-dependent ratings. Suitable cooling fluid and ventilation are also required.

How do warranty, returns and technical service work for this kit?

IKA’s package information states two years plus three additional years after registration for the evaporator and heating bath, and two years plus one additional year for the included pump and chiller. Do not treat every item as having a five-year term. Manufacturer terms, timely registration and exclusions apply. Start return requests through Blue Tiger Scientific; IKA handles manufacturer warranty, technical service, calibration and repairs.
