IKA MULTIDRIVE CONTROL MT PACKAGE • 0010007100 • US 100–120 V

Weigh the sample. Mill in its own tube. Keep the workflow defined.

Bring dry-sample milling and integrated weighing into one benchtop workflow. The IKA MultiDrive control MT Package pairs the TFT-controlled drive with the required TC 1 protective housing and five MT 150 milling tubes, each with a stainless-steel beater and up to 150 mL useful volume.

Choose it for suitable dry, brittle samples when separate sample-contact tubes, visible contents and a defined weighing/milling sequence are useful. The system processes one tube at a time; five supplied tubes do not mean five simultaneous milling positions.

A complete MT-format starting package, not every MultiDrive vessel. US order 0010007100 includes the Control drive, TC 1 and MT 150.5 five-tube pack with five spare seals. Optional MI, BL, BT and DI vessels are separate. Tube operating time, cooling and seal replacement remain essential parts of the method.

Is the Control MT package right for your samples?

For dry, brittle sample preparation

Consider suitable grains, sugar, coffee, tea and tablet samples within the manual’s size, hardness and temperature limits. Final fineness and processing time depend on the sample and method, not merely the maximum speed.

For separate sample-contact tubes

Five transparent plastic tubes support a defined sample workflow. Cleaning or autoclaving does not establish a universal carryover-free or sterile result; validate the method and use a fresh tube where required.

For weighing before processing

Tare and weigh in the same processing vessel while the drive is stopped. The Control’s integrated weighing function can reduce transfers, but its weighing range is not a claim that the MT tube accepts a 4 kg sample.

For short, managed batches

Choose it when one-minute MT runs, cooling intervals and tracked seal wear suit the workload. It is not a continuous-production mill or an unrestricted-use disposable-tube system.

What is included in US package 0010007100?

Closed MT 150 transparent milling tube with stainless-steel beater
One MT 150 shown. MT 150.5 / 0020023173 is a five-tube pack; five spare seals are supplied with the pack, not five extra seals for every tube.

Control drive, protective housing and five-tube pack

  • IKA MultiDrive control drive, US 100–120 V, 50/60 Hz.
  • MultiDrive TC 1 protective housing, catalog 0020023489.
  • MultiDrive MT 150.5, catalog 0020023173: five autoclavable MT 150 tubes with stainless-steel beaters.
  • Five spare seals with the MT pack. The usage-reset procedure requires the corresponding seal code.

The drive manual also lists the power-cord set, USB cable, socket wrench, disassembly tools I and II, cleaning brush, user guide and warranty card. The TC 1 manual lists disassembly tool III with the cover. These support the supplied equipment; they are not extra milling vessel families.

Not included: MI 250-S or other reusable MI chambers, BL or BT blending vessels, DI dispersing vessels, an external cooler, sample material, an analytical balance or a software license. The explicit package scope includes MT 150.5; the manufacturer’s generic “vessels not included” paragraph refers to the other vessel choices.

Check size, hardness and sample chemistry together

The supplied MT tube has its own working envelope

Each MT 150 has a 150 mL maximum useful volume, a standard stainless-steel beater and a maximum stated hardness of 5 Mohs. The general feed-size limit is 10 mm, but the manual requires smaller pieces as hardness increases. At 5 Mohs, the example maximum edge length is 5 mm, not an unconditional 10 mm allowance at maximum hardness.

The intended kit workflow is dry milling. The tube manual marks solvents and abrasive substances as unsuitable. Optional hard-metal accessories elsewhere in the MultiDrive family do not give the supplied MT tube a 9-Mohs rating.

Sample-contact materials include stainless steel, polycarbonate, polyamide, PTFE and silicone. Assess compatibility and possible tool/seal abrasion for the intended analysis. Do not assume suitability for trace-metal-sensitive work or claim contamination-free results.

Dry material should not be loaded above 40°C, and the medium must not exceed 90°C under the manual’s precautions. Processing can add heat quickly. The supplied MT tube does not provide the temperature sensing found in designated optional T vessels.

Genuine manufacturer detail. The beater is part of the MT tube, not an optional hard-metal or rotor-stator tool. Guard against sharp edges and inspect parts before use.

TFT controls and weighing, without extra sample transfers

Actual MultiDrive control TFT panel detail from the manufacturer image
Actual Control display crop. Example readings are illustrative, not the supplied MT tube’s run-time or seal-life settings.

Weigh at standstill, then choose a suitable milling sequence

The Control provides a TFT display, vessel recognition, RFID usage information and programmable speed/time profiles. Its integrated weighing function lists a 5–4,000 g range and 1 g resolution in current technical data. Weigh only at standstill, tare as instructed and verify performance for the method.

The 4 kg weighing limit is not a working sample-mass rating for a 150 mL plastic tube. An integrated weighing function is also not a substitute for a separately specified analytical balance when the method requires one.

Variable speed spans 3,000–20,000 rpm. The electrical ratings are 1,000 W input and 800 W motor output, not 1,000 W output. Local operation does not require a PC; Micro-USB is available for a separately configured software workflow.

Control supports speed/time programs and adjustable intermittent operation, but the loaded vessel’s shorter timer and cooling limits still apply. Temperature display and monitoring need the correct sensing vessel; those general drive capabilities are not supplied MT sample-temperature measurement.

Three different clocks: run time, cooling and seal usage

A short run limit is not the same as cumulative seal life

One MT processing run: maximum one minute. The drive manual gives a 5-second to 1-minute timer range for MT 150/BT 250. Do not use a generic five-minute package-table rating or another vessel’s 30-minute Control rating as an MT setting.

Cooling between MT runs: at least ten minutes per the current tube technical table. Cooling intervals are not extra processing capacity; stop and allow safe handling before opening or removing the vessel.

MT seal usage: the current tube manual specifies a ten-minute cumulative reference for the MT 150 seal, tracked through the remaining-usage-time display. The BT 250 column is six minutes. These are different tube formats, not interchangeable service-life figures.

When the applicable usage time is exhausted, replace the seal or vessel as instructed. After physically fitting a new seal, enter its supplied six-digit code in the drive’s reset procedure. Resetting the counter alone does not renew a worn part. Inspect the tube, beater and seal regularly; no unlimited number of reuse or autoclave cycles is promised.

MT 150 timing guide: one minute maximum run, ten minutes minimum cooling, ten minutes cumulative seal reference, then physical replacement and coded reset
Original guide based on the current MT/BT manual, revision 032026, and drive manual. Follow the actual vessel recognition, condition and operating instructions.

See the tube-seal maintenance format

IKA’s short BT/MT-family demonstration illustrates the seal-change format. It is not a complete operating procedure or a statement that every bench item shown is supplied. Use the current manual for the actual MT timing, disassembly, seal replacement and code-reset steps.

Official IKA BT/MT tube-seal demonstration, approximately 15 seconds. BT vessels and other laboratory items shown are not additional contents of this MT package.

Cleaning and autoclaving: follow the tube-specific procedure

The current tube manual lists an autoclave condition of 121°C, 2 bar and 20 minutes, with the upper part removed or the vessel completely disassembled. That is a manufacturer procedure reference, not a guarantee of sterility for every load, process or sample.

The MT/BT tube manual permits dishwasher cleaning and describes cleaning with approved water/surfactant or isopropyl alcohol. Those tube instructions do not mean the electrical drive can be autoclaved, immersed or put in a dishwasher. Follow each component’s own instructions and isolate the drive from power before cleaning or accessory work.

Where carryover must be excluded, choose and validate an appropriate fresh-tube workflow rather than treating reused, sterilized plastic as universally contamination-free. Autoclaving does not erase the RFID seal-usage history or replace inspection. Liquid nitrogen is not permitted for direct sample cooling. Any dry-ice method requires the full manual procedure and must never trap evolving gas in a closed tube.

A practical weigh, mill and inspect workflow

Dry-sample workflow: check fit, tare and weigh at standstill, secure tube under TC 1, then mill within the run and cooling limits
Original planning guide. Read the drive and MT/TC 1 manuals before use; this is not a validated sample-preparation or safety protocol.

Define the method before using the maximum speed

  • Confirm sample chemistry, size, hardness, starting temperature and the tube fill limit.
  • Tare and weigh at standstill, then close and mount one tube correctly.
  • Fit the TC 1 protective housing. The interlock is required for MT operation.
  • Choose appropriate speed and a run no longer than one minute; allow at least ten minutes cooling.
  • Inspect the sample and vessel, track cumulative seal usage, and use the specified replacement/reset procedure.

Final fineness depends on material behavior, fill and the actual milling method. Do not infer a guaranteed mesh size, throughput, sample mass or analytical recovery from the maximum motor speed.

Control MT or Basic M20 Successor: choose the sample format

Two different packages, not a simple bigger-or-smaller upgrade

This Control MT package

Choose the supplied five-tube MT format when separate 150 mL sample-contact tubes and Control weighing/TFT functions fit the work. TC 1 is included. Apply MT-specific timing and seal limits.

Basic M20 Successor package

The separate Basic package uses a reusable 250 mL MI 250-S chamber and Basic LED controls. It does not have Control weighing/programming, and MT 150/BT 250 tubes do not operate on the Basic drive, even with TC 1.

Optional Control vessel families

MI milling, BL/BT blending and DI dispersing formats are separately specified options. Their capacities, temperature sensing and operating limits belong to the exact vessel, not automatically to this MT order.

Alternative format: MultiDrive basic M20 Successor package with reusable MI 250-S chamber. Compare the vessel workflow before choosing; MT and MI containers are not supplied together here.

Selection guide: Control MT with five 150 mL tubes and TC 1 versus separate Basic M20 Successor with MI 250-S 250 mL chamber
Original package-selection guide. Optional vessel families are not included in this MT package.

Safety, support and related preparation workflows

Use trained staff, suitable personal protection and process-specific safeguards. Do not bypass the protective housing or vessel interlocks. This mill is not explosion-protected; do not use it for explosive atmospheres or assume every reactive, hazardous, solvent-containing or abrasive material is suitable.

The drive manual states a 24-month baseline manufacturer warranty, excluding wear and faults caused by improper use or inadequate care. Consumable tubes, seals and normal wear are not promised unconditional coverage. Any registration extension depends on IKA’s exact applicable terms. Blue Tiger handles purchases and return requests; IKA handles warranty assessment, technical support, calibration and repairs.

Related workflow: T 25 digital drive for a separately specified liquid-dispersion workflow. It needs its own compatible dispersing tool and support arrangement; neither is part of this MT milling package.

Specify the sample and the tube workflow, not just the drive

For 0010007100, US 100–120 V, tell Blue Tiger the sample material, initial piece size, hardness, intended fill, required result and daily workload. We can coordinate application questions and current manufacturer availability with IKA.

This order includes the MT starting format, not every optional vessel or perpetual consumables supply. The store inventory setting is not a statement of IKA warehouse stock. Dispatch timing and final packed dimensions/mass need order-specific confirmation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does MultiDrive control MT Package 0010007100 include?

The US 100–120 V package includes the MultiDrive control drive, TC 1 protective housing 0020023489 and MT 150.5 pack 0020023173. MT 150.5 supplies five MT 150 milling tubes plus five spare seals. It processes one tube at a time. MI, BL, BT and DI vessel families are not additional supplied items.

Can each supplied MT 150 run for five or thirty minutes continuously?

No. The current drive manual limits MT 150 timer/counter operation to 5 seconds–1 minute, and the tube manual lists a maximum one-minute processing run with at least ten minutes cooling. Generic five-minute package ratings and up-to-thirty-minute Control ratings for other vessels are not MT operating settings.

Is MT 150 seal life six minutes or ten minutes?

The current MT/BT manual’s technical table assigns ten cumulative minutes to the MT 150 seal and six to the BT 250 seal. Follow the recognized vessel’s remaining-usage-time display and current manual. Replace the worn seal or vessel as instructed, then reset using the new seal’s six-digit code; do not reset without replacing the part.

What samples fit the supplied tubes?

The intended workflow is suitable dry samples up to 150 mL useful volume per MT 150, with a standard stainless-steel beater and maximum 5 Mohs hardness. The general 10 mm feed limit becomes smaller as hardness increases; at 5 Mohs the manual example limits edge length to 5 mm. Solvents and abrasive substances are marked unsuitable.

Can I autoclave and reuse MT 150 tubes indefinitely?

No unlimited reuse or cycle count is promised. The tube manual lists 121°C, 2 bar and 20 minutes with the upper part removed or the vessel disassembled. Inspect components, respect seal usage and validate cleaning/carryover requirements. Autoclaving does not reset RFID history or prove every reused tube is contamination-free.

Does the kit measure sample temperature inside MT 150?

No sample-temperature sensing is promised for the supplied MT tube. The Control drive’s general temperature functions require compatible designated sensing vessels. Loading dry material above 40°C or allowing the medium above 90°C conflicts with the tube manual’s precautions; choose the method accordingly.

How does this differ from the Basic M20 Successor package?

This order is the Control drive with TFT, integrated weighing, TC 1 and five 150 mL MT tubes. Basic successor 0010010968 is a separate drive/chamber package with a reusable 250 mL MI 250-S and Basic LED controls. MT/BT tubes do not work on Basic even with TC 1. USB and interval operation are not exclusive Control features.

Do I need another balance, vessel or PC to start?

The supplied MT format includes its required TC 1 and tubes, and local operation does not require a PC. Control weighing lists a 5–4,000 g range and 1 g resolution, but this is not a 4 kg MT sample rating or an analytical-balance guarantee. A different vessel or separate balance may be needed for a different method. Shipping uses a provisional 30 lb packing allowance, not a measured manufacturer gross.
