IKA LR 1000 CONTROL SYSTEM • 0025001992 • US 115 V

Turn a beaker trial into a controlled formulation workflow.

Bring anchor mixing, heating, sample-temperature sensing and process visibility to one compact benchtop. The IKA LR 1000 control System is a 1 L laboratory reactor for developing suitable viscous formulations, including creams and lotions in cosmetic and pharmaceutical research.

US catalog 0025001992 supplies the Control base, LR 1000.3 reactor vessel, anchor stirrer with PEEK scrapers and a PT 100.30 temperature sensor. Its TFT interface adds onboard weighing, relative torque-trend display and a connection for a separately selected pH electrode.

Start with a defined factory system, then add only the cooling, vacuum or high-shear equipment your method needs. Cooling, vacuum and high-shear equipment are separate selections, not items included with this order.

A QUICK BUYING DECISION

Is this the right system for your lab?

The strongest reason to choose LR 1000 control is a defined formulation workflow, not simply a higher-priced stirrer. Match the batch, process measurements and supplied equipment to the work you need to do.

Develop suitable creams, lotions and viscous blends

Choose this 1 L platform when your R&D work calls for anchor mixing and controlled heating of a suitable viscous formulation. Its 300–1,000 mL useful range without a disperser makes the intended batch scale clear before you choose the system.

Follow the batch, not just the speed dial

Use the TFT view to follow medium temperature and relative torque changes at constant set speed. Pause heating and stirring to use onboard weighing. Add a suitable pH electrode separately if pH measurement belongs in your method.

Start with the core hardware already selected

The Control base, LR 1000.3 vessel, PEEK-scraper anchor and PT 100.30 sensor are specified together under US order code 0025001992. You can distinguish the core system from optional cooling, vacuum or dispersing equipment instead of budgeting for an undefined collection of parts.

Choose Control for functions you will actually use

Control is the choice when its TFT interface, weighing, relative torque trend and pH connection support your workflow. If those functions are unnecessary, compare Basic instead. Both versions share the stated 1 L maximum volume and 120°C medium limit; Control does not buy a larger vessel.

Choose another platform when the limits do not fit

Need less than 300 mL without a disperser, more than 1 L, positive-pressure reaction service or a medium temperature above 120°C? This is not that configuration. With an optional disperser, the separate minimum is 500 mL. For calibrated absolute viscosity, select a suitable viscometer rather than treating torque trend as a viscosity result.

What comes with the US Control system?

Close-up of the LR 1000 reactor vessel, lid ports and anchor assembly from the manufacturer photograph
Actual photograph detail, not a second vessel. The Control vessel uses FFKM O-ring material and PEEK scrapers; suitability still depends on the medium and conditions.

The vessel, stirrer and temperature sensor are part of the system

  • LR 1000 control base, US 115 V, 50/60 Hz.
  • LR 1000.3 laboratory reactor vessel.
  • LR 1000.10 anchor stirrer with PEEK scrapers, listed in the current US system scope.
  • PT 100.30 temperature sensor and the supplied sensor receptacle, listed as LR 1000.62 in the current US order scope.
  • Silentstream, support rod and two hose connectors.
  • USB A to Micro-B cable, 2 m. The operating manual also identifies a mains cable and tool kit.

Not listed as supplied: a pH electrode, T 25 disperser and reactor-specific dispersing tool, external chiller or other cooling supply, vacuum pump, reflux condenser or labworldsoft software license. Select those separately when the application needs them.

The manual covers both Basic and Control and includes shared installation illustrations. Use the Control column and the actual supplied components; a shared drawing is not proof that every illustrated accessory is in this package.

Mix viscous formulations with a defined batch window

Anchor mixing for suitable viscous media

The supplied anchor and PEEK scrapers support mixing within the 10–150 rpm range. The published maximum viscosity is 100,000 mPa·s. This is a selection limit, not a promise of identical performance at every fill, speed, temperature or formulation.

Work at a useful laboratory scale

The manufacturer specifies 300–1,000 mL without a dispersing tool and 500–1,000 mL when an appropriate dispersing tool is fitted. Do not treat the 1 L maximum as a universal recommended charge or assume it is a micro-volume reactor.

Choose chemistry against the contact materials

The Control configuration includes stainless steel, borosilicate glass 3.3, PTFE, PEEK and FFKM in the documented wetted assembly. Check chemical, seal and temperature compatibility for the actual formulation; the material list is not blanket solvent approval.

See the process, not just the speed setting

Genuine detail of the LR 1000 control TFT display and rotary controls
A crop of the real manufacturer photograph. Readings are illustrative, not a recipe, calibration reference or recommended operating settings.

TFT operation with useful formulation measurements

Control brings the main operating values together on a color TFT display, with rotary/push controls and an intuitive menu. Follow sample temperature and stirring settings, use the integrated weighing function and observe relative torque changes during your method.

Weighing: the specified range is 3–2,000 g with 1 g resolution. Heating and stirring must be deactivated for weighing, as the manual requires. It can simplify formulation additions in the reactor, but it does not replace an analytical balance when your method requires finer or certified mass measurement.

Torque trend: this is a relative process indicator. Use a constant set speed for torque-trend measurement; the manual says it cannot be combined with intermittent mode. A change may help you see how a formulation develops under consistent conditions, but the reactor does not report a calibrated absolute viscosity in mPa·s.

pH: the integrated BNC connection and TFT display support pH measurement with a suitable separately selected electrode. A probe is not in the listed standard delivery. Calibrate the selected electrode before measurement; the manual requires an inserted temperature sensor for calibration. Chemical compatibility and the applicable probe instructions still matter.

USB and RS 232 support a separately configured PC workflow. IKA labworldsoft is optional software, not a license included with this system. No automatic electronic-record, audit-trail or regulatory-compliance claim is made.

Heat the medium within its working-temperature limit

120°C working temperature is not the same as the heater rating

The integrated heating block supplies heat through the vessel base. The external PT 100 temperature sensor measures the medium so heating can be controlled around the process temperature rather than an assumed hotplate setting.

The maximum working temperature of the medium is 120°C. A separate 180°C heating-block specification appears in the manufacturer’s data; it is not permission to operate the formulation at 180°C.

The manual requires the external temperature sensor to remain immersed in the medium, with at least 20 mm insertion depth. Set the adjustable safety circuit appropriately for the medium and method, and account for residual heat before handling or removing the vessel.

The equipment shuts off stirring and heating when the vessel or lid is removed during operation. These protections do not replace operator supervision, a suitable risk assessment or the full safety instructions.

Heating is integrated in the base. No external hotplate is required for the specified heating function, and no external cooling instrument is supplied.

Add external cooling when the method calls for it

Manufacturer rear view of the LR 1000 control showing cooling and electrical connections
Rear-view photograph. Cooling connections serve the base’s cooling coils; this is not an included chiller or a general-purpose pressurized jacket circuit.

Cooling connections are built in. The cooling supply is separate.

Flow-through cooling uses integrated cooling coils in the base. Connect an appropriate external cooling arrangement when your method needs controlled heat removal or a cooling step. The system is not supplied with a recirculating chiller.

The manufacturer lists a 3°C minimum cooling-medium temperature and 1 bar maximum permissible cooling-medium pressure. The operating instructions also require an unpressurized cooling arrangement. Do not connect an unrestricted pressurized supply or treat the 1 bar limit as a recommendation to pressurize the circuit.

Secure the hoses, provide the specified outlet/drain arrangement and follow the manual’s connection instructions. The optional MV1 valve is installed only on the cooling inlet and must be selected and connected correctly.

For planning, separate the desired sample temperature from cooling-medium temperature, flow and available cooling capacity. A compatible connection alone does not guarantee the required cooling time for every batch.

A practical formulation workflow

Original LR 1000 formulation planning guide: define the batch, mix and control heat, follow process values, cool and document
Original planning guide. With an optional disperser, use the separate 500–1,000 mL useful-volume range. This diagram does not replace installation or safety instructions.

Build the method around the batch and its limits

  • Define the medium, target batch, contact-material compatibility and required mixing or dispersing route.
  • Inspect the glass vessel, lid, seals, anchor and temperature sensor. Install and lock the equipment as the manual directs.
  • Use an appropriate charge and keep the PT 100 sensor immersed. Start stirring at a suitable low setting and adjust within the method’s limits.
  • Control heat against the measured medium temperature. Follow relative torque and use weighing or a separately configured pH measurement where relevant.
  • Use the selected cooling arrangement when required. Stop, allow safe handling temperatures, isolate power for cleaning and record the method before changing the next batch.

A visible torque change can be a useful process observation, but it is not proof of a particular viscosity, emulsion quality or validated endpoint. Establish and document your own acceptance criteria.

Which LR 1000 setup should I choose?

Original selection guide distinguishing this Control system from optional disperser, cooling, vacuum and pH additions
This order is the 115 V Control system, not a bundle with every optional instrument. Separate hardware shown or described in family literature is not automatically supplied.

Choose Control for additional process visibility

This system adds the TFT interface, weighing function, relative torque-trend display, pH-electrode connection and MV1 control interface. Choose it when these functions contribute to your formulation workflow.

Consider Basic when those extra functions are unnecessary

The Basic and Control manual lists the same 1 L maximum volume, 10–150 rpm speed range and 120°C medium limit. Basic uses LED displays and does not supply Control’s weighing, pH or torque-trend functions. Control is not a higher-volume reactor.

Add high-shear dispersion as a separate configuration

IKA lists the T 25 digital with reactor-specific S 25 KV-25 F or S 25 KV-25 G elements in the manual. The drive, appropriate tool and required fitting must be selected together. A generic T 25 shaft is not automatically the correct reactor tool.

Vacuum-capable does not mean pressure-reactor service

The LR 1000 is designed for vacuum operation down to 25 mbar under the applicable equipment and process conditions. A suitable external vacuum arrangement is a separate selection; no vacuum pump is included in this system.

It is not designed for overpressure operation. At normal pressure, the reactor must remain appropriately ventilated to prevent pressure buildup. Volatile processes may also require a suitable condenser, containment and laboratory ventilation selected for the method.

Do not infer that the cooling-circuit pressure limit is an allowable reaction-vessel pressure. The system is not explosion-protected, and it must not be operated in an explosive atmosphere. Trained staff must assess hazardous media and follow the complete operating instructions.

Cleaning and care that support the next batch

Let the equipment cool safely

The heating block, vessel and lid can remain hot after the process stops. Stop stirring and isolate the electrical supply before accessory changes or cleaning, following the specified safe-removal procedure.

Inspect the wetted assembly

Check the glass for damage and inspect the scraper, O-rings, shaft seal and connections. Wear and residue can affect both operation and process observations. Select cleaning agents that suit the actual materials and contamination risks.

Protect the electrical base

Do not immerse the drive or wash it as if it were an empty glass vessel. The manual identifies product-contacting components as suitable for laboratory dishwashers, while electrical equipment and handles must not be immersed. Follow the separate component and cleaning-agent instructions; this is not an autoclave or sterilization claim.

For product return requests, start with Blue Tiger Scientific. IKA handles manufacturer technical support, warranty assessment, calibration where applicable and repairs under its terms. The operating manual states a 24-month warranty, with exclusions including wear, improper use and insufficient care.

Build out the workflow selectively

Compatible accessory: IKA T 25 digital drive, US 100–120 V. IKA lists this drive as a reactor accessory. It is drive-only: select the reactor-specific S 25 KV tool and required mounting/fitting separately. The S 25 N-18 G tool sold for other T 25 work is not established here as the reactor tool.

Related workflow: MultiDrive basic M20 Successor Package for a separate dry-sample preparation step. Use only when its specified dry-grinding method and sample limits fit the broader workflow; this is not a reactor attachment or permission for solvent milling.

Related workflow: RV 10 digital pro V-C Complete for separate rotary evaporation. This is a distinct concentration/solvent-removal system, not a vacuum-pump accessory included with the LR 1000.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included with IKA LR 1000 control System 0025001992?

The US 115 V system includes the Control base, LR 1000.3 reactor vessel, LR 1000.10 anchor stirrer with PEEK scrapers, PT 100.30 sensor and supplied receptacle, Silentstream, support rod, two hose connectors and a USB cable. The manual also identifies the mains cable and tool kit. A pH electrode, disperser, external chiller, vacuum pump and labworldsoft software license are separate selections.

Why choose LR 1000 control rather than LR 1000 basic?

Choose Control for its TFT operation, integrated weighing, pH-electrode connection, relative torque-trend display and MV1 valve interface. Both versions share the manual’s 1 L maximum useful volume, 10–150 rpm range and 120°C medium limit. Control adds instrumentation and workflow functions, not a larger reactor capacity.

How small a batch can I run in the LR 1000 control?

IKA specifies 300–1,000 mL without a dispersing tool and 500–1,000 mL with an appropriate dispersing tool. For 0025001992, choose the charge against the installed configuration and keep the temperature sensor immersed at least 20 mm as the manual requires. Do not assume the 1 L system supports arbitrary micro-volume batches.

Can I operate the formulation at 180°C?

No. The maximum working temperature of the medium is 120°C. The separate 180°C figure is a heating-block specification, not an allowable 180°C sample temperature. Follow the medium limit, immersed sensor requirement, material compatibility and adjustable safety-circuit instructions.

Does the 100,000 mPa·s rating mean it measures viscosity?

No. The LR 1000 control has a maximum published viscosity rating of 100,000 mPa·s and a relative torque-trend display. The display indicates changes under the method’s conditions; it is not a calibrated absolute viscosity reading or a substitute for a suitable viscometer. Performance still depends on the formulation, charge, stirrer and operating conditions.

Is a chiller included, and can I connect ordinary pressurized tap water?

A chiller is not included. Cooling uses the base’s integrated coils and a separately selected supply. The data lists a 3°C minimum cooling-medium temperature and 1 bar maximum permissible cooling-medium pressure; the manual also requires an unpressurized cooling arrangement. Do not connect an unrestricted pressurized supply. Follow the inlet, outlet and hose instructions.

Can the LR 1000 control be used under vacuum or positive pressure?

It is designed for vacuum operation down to 25 mbar with an appropriate separately selected setup. It is not designed for overpressure use. At normal pressure, the reactor must be appropriately ventilated to prevent pressure buildup. Cooling-circuit pressure is not a reaction-vessel pressure rating. No vacuum pump is included in 0025001992.

Can I add a T 25 digital disperser, and will any S 25 tool fit?

IKA lists T 25 digital as an accessory, and the reactor manual identifies S 25 KV-25 F and S 25 KV-25 G dispersing elements. Select the correct drive, reactor-specific tool and fitting together. The generic S 25 N-18 G sold for other T 25 work must not be assumed to fit this reactor. Dispersion requires the separate 500–1,000 mL useful-volume range.
