IKA LR 1000 BASIC SYSTEM • 0020119961 • US 100–115 V

A defined 1 L mixing-and-heating platform. Straightforward LED operation.

Give suitable formulation trials a specified vessel, anchor stirrer and immersed temperature sensor instead of treating every run as an improvised beaker setup. The IKA LR 1000 basic System brings bottom heating and 10–150 rpm anchor mixing together for laboratory-scale chemical processes and suitable creams, lotions and other viscous formulations.

US catalog 0020119961 includes the Basic base, LR 1000.1 vessel, LR 1000.11 anchor stirrer, PT 100.30 temperature sensor and LR 1000.61 sensor receptacle. Its seven-segment LED interface keeps the core operating values in view.

Choose Basic when those core functions meet your method. If onboard weighing, a pH-electrode connection or relative torque-trend display is a requirement, compare Control before you order. Basic does not acquire those hardware functions simply by adding software.

A QUICK BUYING DECISION

Is Basic the right system for your lab?

A fit for suitable viscous formulation R&D

Consider this platform when your work needs anchor mixing and controlled heating in the 300–1,000 mL range without a dispersing tool. Suitable cosmetic and pharmaceutical development work can include cream or lotion trials, provided the material, method and safety limits fit.

Choose core functions without unused instrumentation

Basic makes sense when LED operation, temperature control with the supplied sensor and timed stirring are the functions you need. It does not include Control’s weighing, pH connection or relative torque-trend display.

Know which core parts arrive together

The factory order specifies the Basic base, LR 1000.1 vessel, LR 1000.11 anchor and PT 100.30 sensing hardware. You can separate the core system from an optional disperser, cooling source or vacuum arrangement before planning the full method.

Keep a clear upgrade decision

Compare the linked Control system when its added measurement and interface functions have a purpose in your process. Both versions share the published 1 L capacity and 120°C medium limit, but their supplied vessels, anchors and seal details are not identical.

Choose another platform when the limits do not fit.

This is not a micro-volume, greater-than-1 L, positive-pressure or above-120°C sample-temperature configuration. With a suitable optional disperser, the useful-volume minimum is 500 mL. A viscometer is a separate instrument: Basic does not measure absolute viscosity.

What is included in US system 0020119961?

Genuine detail of the Basic reactor vessel and lid from IKA’s manufacturer photograph
The supplied vessel is LR 1000.1. Do not substitute Control’s LR 1000.3 or infer an included disperser from a port or illustration.

A manufacturer-defined system, not a collection of assumed extras

  • LR 1000 basic base in the specified US 100–115 V, 50/60 Hz version.
  • LR 1000.1 laboratory reactor vessel.
  • LR 1000.11 anchor stirrer.
  • PT 100.30 temperature sensor and LR 1000.61 sensor receptacle.
  • Support rod for securing approved accessories.
  • Two hose connectors for cooling connections.
  • The Basic operating-manual scope also identifies the mains cable, tool kit, instructions and warranty card.

Not listed as included: an external chiller or other cooling supply, vacuum pump, T 25 disperser, reactor-specific dispersing element and fitting, reflux condenser or labworldsoft software license. A USB cable is listed in the manual’s Control delivery column, not the Basic column; it is not promised with this Basic order.

The Basic order lists LR 1000.11, not Control’s LR 1000.10 anchor with PEEK scrapers. Select from the actual US scope rather than importing the Control package’s scraper or FFKM-vessel claims.

Set the method around the batch, not only the dial

Use the specified volume window

The useful-volume range is 300–1,000 mL without a dispersing tool and 500–1,000 mL with an appropriate tool. These are configuration limits, not permission to run an arbitrary charge, leave the sensor uncovered or fill every formulation to the maximum.

Match the material to anchor mixing

The maximum published viscosity is 100,000 mPa·s. Batch composition, temperature, loading and the installed tool still affect performance. The rating is not a measured viscosity output, a guarantee at every speed or a promise of a particular emulsion result.

Check the actual wetted assembly

The manual identifies stainless steel including 316L/316Ti, borosilicate glass 3.3 and PTFE in the assembly, with FKM O-rings for LR 1000.1. Check compatibility against the actual supplied components, reagents and conditions; no blanket chemical compatibility is claimed.

LED operation with the values that matter for Basic

Actual LR 1000 basic seven-segment LED control panel detail
Genuine crop of the Basic photograph, not a fabricated display. Values shown are illustrative, not recommended settings for a formulation.

Set speed, follow temperature and time the operation

The seven-segment LED interface displays the core operating values and uses rotary controls for adjustment. Stirring speed is adjustable from 10 to 150 rpm in 1 rpm increments, with a published ±5 rpm deviation. The timer helps define a repeatable run sequence.

An external PT 100.30 sensor is supplied for measuring the medium. Basic supports temperature setting in 1 K increments and a stated 0.1 K temperature-measurement resolution. Those two figures describe different functions.

Basic is not Control. It has no integrated weighing function, pH-electrode interface, relative torque-trend display or MV1 valve-control interface. Use separate appropriate instruments when the method needs those measurements, or choose the Control system for its documented functions.

USB and RS 232 interfaces support a separately configured PC workflow under the manufacturer’s instructions. Optional software does not turn Basic into Control, and a labworldsoft license is not listed as part of this system.

Control the medium temperature, not an assumed hotplate temperature

The medium limit is 120°C, not 180°C

The integrated heating block transfers heat through the vessel bottom. Control against the supplied sensor’s medium measurement so the process is based on the sample temperature, not only the heater setting.

Maximum working temperature of the medium: 120°C. IKA’s separate 180°C heating-temperature figure refers to the heating block and does not authorize operating the formulation at 180°C.

Keep the external temperature sensor immersed at least 20 mm, as the operating manual requires. Select a suitable safety-circuit setting for the medium and the method, account for residual heat and keep the vessel and lid correctly secured.

The system switches off heating and stirring when the vessel or lid is removed during operation. Replace and lock the components and follow the specified restart procedure; a safety cutout is not a substitute for trained supervision.

Detail of the Basic vessel seated on the heated base
Manufacturer-photo detail of the base and lower vessel. The internal heating block and cooling coils are not exposed in this photograph.

Cooling is a separate utility choice

LR 1000 basic provides flow-through cooling through coils in the base. An external cooling source is not included. Choose an appropriate arrangement for the desired heat-removal duty, sample and timing rather than treating the reactor as a refrigerated instrument.

Respect both the data limit and the setup instruction

The manufacturer states a 3°C minimum cooling-medium temperature and 1 bar maximum permissible cooling-medium pressure. The operating manual also requires an unpressurized cooling arrangement. Do not interpret the limit as approval for an unrestricted pressurized supply.

Connect for cooling, not external heating

Secure the inlet/outlet hoses, provide the specified return or drain arrangement and follow the manufacturer’s connection procedure. The connections are for cooling only, not a general-purpose external heating jacket.

Do not add Control-only valve functions by assumption

The Basic model does not provide Control’s MV1 valve interface. Plan any separate cooling equipment and control arrangement against the actual Basic configuration; a valve and automated cooling package are not supplied here.

A practical Basic formulation workflow

Original Basic workflow guide: select a suitable batch, anchor mix, follow medium temperature, cool and document
Original planning guide. If adding a compatible disperser, use the separate 500–1,000 mL range. Follow the full installation and safety instructions.

Give each trial a defined starting point

  • Choose suitable media, batch volume and mixing conditions, including the actual seal and material compatibility.
  • Inspect and correctly install the vessel, lid, anchor and PT 100 sensor. Keep the medium within the applicable fill range and the probe immersed.
  • Start at a suitable low speed and adjust within the 10–150 rpm range; control heating against measured medium temperature.
  • Use the separately selected cooling arrangement when required and document the operating conditions and observations.
  • Stop, allow safe handling temperatures and isolate the electrical supply before changes or cleaning, as the manual directs.

Basic does not tell you that an emulsion has reached a validated endpoint. Use appropriate separate measurements and your own method criteria instead of assuming a timed run or maximum speed proves product quality.

Basic or Control: choose the functions, then verify the hardware

Original LR 1000 Basic versus Control selection guide and separate-equipment reminder
This order is Basic with LR 1000.1 and LR 1000.11. Control and external instruments are separate products, not extra equipment included here.

Choose this Basic system for its core workflow

A defined 1 L anchor-stirring and heating platform, LED operation and PT 100.30 sensing. Choose it when these functions and the actual Basic materials and ports suit the method.

Choose Control when the added instrumentation matters

Control provides the TFT interface, weighing, pH-electrode connection and relative torque-trend function. Its LR 1000.3 vessel and documented supplied hardware also differ; do not treat the two packages as identical except for the screen.

Neither system includes every external instrument

Cooling, vacuum and high-shear dispersion require separately selected equipment. A pH connection is not an included electrode, and a compatible T 25 drive still needs the correct reactor tool and fitting.

Vacuum use is not pressure-reaction service

The specified attainable vacuum is 25 mbar with an appropriate separately selected vacuum arrangement. No vacuum pump is listed in this Basic system’s current US scope. Follow the actual supplied vessel and lid configuration; a port or a drawing is not proof that every vacuum accessory is supplied.

The LR 1000 is not designed for overpressure. At normal pressure, keep the reactor appropriately ventilated to prevent pressure buildup. Volatile processes can require a suitable lid-mounted condenser and laboratory ventilation selected for the application.

The cooling-circuit pressure limit is not a reaction-vessel pressure rating. Do not operate in an explosive atmosphere, bypass the vessel/lid protections or process media that can react dangerously to energy input. Use only trained staff and appropriate process-specific safeguards.

Clean the components for the next trial

Separate the vessel-cleaning task from the electrical base

Stop operation, allow safe handling temperatures and disconnect mains before cleaning. The manual identifies product-contacting components as suitable for laboratory dishwashers, but electrical equipment and handles must not be immersed.

Use the specified cleaning-agent limits

The manual identifies water containing surfactant and isopropyl alcohol as approved cleaning agents. Follow its cleaning/disinfection pH 5–8 restriction and exclusions for corrosive agents. Cleaning permission is not blanket approval to process the same chemical in a reaction.

Inspect the glass, seals and stirrer

Check for damaged glass, residue, seal degradation and wear before the next run. Basic’s LR 1000.1 O-ring material is FKM; do not assume Control’s FFKM seal claim. Consult IKA before unlisted cleaning or decontamination methods.

Start product return requests through Blue Tiger Scientific. IKA handles manufacturer technical support, warranty assessment, calibration where applicable and repairs under its terms. The operating manual states a 24-month warranty subject to conditions and exclusions including wear, improper use and insufficient care.

Select the next step in your workflow

Alternative model: LR 1000 control System, US 115 V for the documented TFT, weighing, pH-connection and torque-trend functions. Compare actual vessel, anchor and seal details before choosing; Control is not a larger-capacity version.

Compatible accessory: T 25 digital drive for a separately configured reactor-dispersion setup. IKA’s reactor manual identifies S 25 KV-25 F/G tools; select the correct tool and fitting together. The drive-only page does not supply those automatically, and S 25 N-18 G is not established here as the reactor tool.

Related workflow: RV 10 digital pro V-C Complete for separate rotary evaporation. It is a different solvent-removal/concentration system, not a pump or other accessory included with this reactor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is LR 1000 basic suitable for cream or lotion formulation trials?

IKA describes the system for laboratory mixing and chemical-process development, particularly in cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications. For a suitable cream, lotion or other viscous formulation, check the actual medium, seals, temperature, useful-volume range and mixing needs. A 100,000 mPa·s rating is not a guarantee of a particular emulsion quality or permission for every ingredient.

What is included with US IKA system 0020119961?

The current US scope lists the Basic base, LR 1000.1 vessel, LR 1000.11 anchor stirrer, PT 100.30 sensor, LR 1000.61 receptacle, support rod and two hose connectors. The Basic manual also identifies the mains cable, tool kit and documentation. External cooling, a vacuum pump, T 25/reactor tool/fitting, condenser and labworldsoft license are not listed as supplied.

What do I give up by choosing Basic rather than Control?

Basic uses LED operation and does not provide Control’s TFT interface, weighing function, pH-electrode connection, relative torque-trend display or MV1 valve-control interface. Both versions share a 1 L maximum useful volume, 10–150 rpm speed range and 120°C medium limit in the manual. The vessel, anchor and seal scope differ; software does not add the missing Control hardware functions.

What is the minimum batch size, with or without a disperser?

The manufacturer specifies 300–1,000 mL without a dispersing tool and 500–1,000 mL with an appropriate optional tool. Keep the supplied temperature sensor immersed at least 20 mm and follow the configuration’s other limits. Do not assume the 1 L system supports arbitrary micro-volume batches or that 1 L is always the recommended charge.

Does the 180°C heater specification allow 180°C formulations?

No. The maximum working temperature of the medium is 120°C. The separate 180°C heating-temperature figure refers to the heating block, not the allowed sample temperature. Use the immersed sensor, suitable safety-circuit setting, compatible materials and the complete operating instructions.

Is a chiller included, and how is cooling connected?

A chiller is not included. Cooling uses coils in the base and an appropriately selected external source. The published coolant limits are a 3°C minimum temperature and 1 bar maximum permissible pressure; the manual also requires an unpressurized cooling arrangement. Secure hoses and follow the inlet/outlet instructions. Basic does not include Control’s MV1 valve interface.

Can the Basic reactor be used under vacuum or positive pressure?

The specified attainable vacuum is 25 mbar with a suitable separately selected arrangement. A vacuum pump is not in the Basic scope. The system is not designed for overpressure, and normal-pressure operation requires appropriate ventilation to prevent buildup. Do not confuse the cooling-circuit pressure limit with a reaction-vessel pressure rating.

Can I use a T 25 digital drive and the S 25 N-18 G tool with this reactor?

IKA names T 25 digital as an accessory, but the reactor manual identifies S 25 KV-25 F and S 25 KV-25 G dispersing elements. Select the appropriate drive, reactor-specific tool and fitting together; do not assume the S 25 N-18 G used for other T 25 tasks fits this reactor. With dispersion, use the separate 500–1,000 mL volume range.
