IKA HRC 2 GREEN CONTROL • 0020128747 • US 115 V

One compact circulator. Heating and cooling for your external process.

Move heat into or out of a suitable external circuit with the IKA HRC 2 GREEN control. Its −30°C to +100°C working range, adjustable pressure/suction pump and removable WiCo controller bring temperature control to compatible reactor jackets and heat exchangers without requiring a computer for local operation.

This listing is US 115 V catalog 0020128747. The US technical rating is 1,200 W heating output. Cooling is rated at 620 W at +20°C, with lower capacity at colder temperatures. Use the duty at your actual target, not the largest number, to choose the instrument.

Plan the complete circuit. Temperature-rated hoses and suitable thermofluid are separate selections. External PT100.30 probe inclusion needs confirmation because the manufacturer’s current sources differ. No reactor, vessel or universal connection kit is included.

Is this the right temperature-control system for your lab?

Your process needs both heating and cooling

A useful format for methods that need to add heat, remove process heat or move through temperature stages. Specify the target range and heat load before selecting a circulation thermostat.

You have an external heat-transfer circuit

Consider compatible reactor jackets, bioreactor temperature circuits and heat exchangers. The pressure, flow, wetted materials and thermal limits of the complete circuit must be checked; model names alone do not establish a fit.

You want a repeatable stand-alone sequence

WiCo provides local controls plus 10 programmable temperature ramps with up to 10 steps each. Ramp settings organize a method but do not validate it or guarantee the process temperature follows every step under load.

You can provide the right installation conditions

Allow ventilation, safe fluid handling and the manual’s room-size requirements for flammable R290 refrigerant. This is a laboratory circulator, not a refrigerated sample chamber or an explosion-proof device.

What comes with HRC 2 GREEN control?

WiCo and connection hardware, with the circuit specified separately

  • HRC 2 GREEN control station with WiCo wireless controller.
  • Power cables; WH 10 WiCo holder and OS 1.0 WiCo power supply.
  • Two DN 8 and two DN 12 hose olives, per the English manual.
  • Safety-circuit screwdriver and overflow-connector plastic cap.
  • USB micro A–micro B and USB A–micro B cables, user guide and warranty card, per the manual.

External probe: confirm before relying on it. The English manual lists a Pt 100.30 in the delivery scope, while the current product description identifies PT100.30 with LEMO connector as an accessory. We do not promise that probe as supplied with US order 0020128747 until its current packing scope is confirmed.

Separate selections: temperature-rated circulation hoses and insulation, appropriate thermofluid, the external reactor or heat exchanger, and application-specific fittings. An RS-232 cable and labworldsoft software license are not listed as supplied. Hose olives are adapters, not complete connecting hoses.

Size cooling capacity at the temperature you need

Cooling capacity table at 4000 rpm: 620 W at plus 20, 600 W at plus 10, 480 W at zero, 350 W at minus 10, 200 W at minus 20, 80 W at minus 30 degrees Celsius
Original guide based on the manufacturer’s DIN 12876 reference data at 4,000 rpm. These are reference capacities, not guaranteed process cooling rates.

The lowest setpoint is not the highest cooling duty

The US data lists 620 W at +20°C, 600 W at +10°C, 480 W at 0°C, 350 W at −10°C, 200 W at −20°C and 80 W at −30°C. A process that generates substantial heat at a low target may need a larger system even when the target lies inside this model’s temperature range.

Include process heat, ambient heat gain, tubing losses and the required pull-down time in the sizing discussion. A four-liter internal bath does not mean the instrument can cool any four-liter sample at any rate.

For US 115 V operation, the manual and US technical table agree on 1,200 W heating output and 1,500 W maximum electrical input. General family marketing figures are not substituted for this electrical version’s rating.

Match the pump, hoses and fluid as one system

Adjustable circulation, without combining incompatible maxima

The speed-controlled PEEK pressure/suction pump adjusts from 2,000 to 4,000 rpm. The maximum flow is 21 L/min at zero back pressure; maximum pressure is 0.5 bar at zero discharge flow. The suction reference is 0.25 bar at zero flow. Those are different operating points, not simultaneous performance.

Pump connections are M16×1. The manual lists DN 8 and DN 12 hose olives, but hoses need their own temperature, pressure and chemical-compatibility checks. Match the connected equipment’s allowable pressure and the actual flow resistance before commissioning.

The fill range is 1.4–4.0 L. IKA describes up to 2.5 L of thermofluid available for an external circuit without refilling; that is a fluid-management reference, not a 2.5 L sample-capacity or universal reactor-size limit.

Choose fluid for the entire target range, including viscosity at the coldest temperature. The stated maximum is 50 mm²/s. Do not assume water is suitable down to −30°C, or that one fluid can cover every possible operating condition.

HRC 2 GREEN circuit selection: separate maximum pressure and flow, M16x1 connections, temperature-rated hoses and fluid
Original circuit-planning guide. Confirm materials, pressure, fluid compatibility and temperature limits for all connected components.

Control the bath or measure the external process

WiCo temperature control interface on IKA HRC 2 GREEN control
The removable controller can be docked or used within its permitted wireless conditions. It is not a cloud-control or unlimited-range promise.

Put feedback where the method needs it

Internal control regulates the bath. With a correctly specified external Pt 100 sensor connected and configured, external control can use the process measurement instead. Confirm the PT100.30 LEMO probe supply, location and mounting for the application rather than treating a sensor socket as an included probe.

The technical references distinguish temperature stability from absolute accuracy: internal stability is ±0.05 K at +70°C and ±0.1 K at −10°C under DIN 12876 reference conditions. Listed internal/external absolute measurement accuracy is ±0.5 K, adjustable by calibration. These figures are not interchangeable.

WiCo offers timer/counter functions, setpoint-reached signaling and programmable ramps. The manual gives a building-dependent wireless distance up to 15 m. Review the communication-loss timeout and safe-temperature/safe-speed settings; loss of the controller link is not a universal automatic shutdown.

Which temperature-control format do I need?

Selection guide comparing cooling-only, heating and cooling, external process feedback and larger duty requirements
Original selection guide, not a claim that all reactor or instrument connections are compatible.

Choose cooling-only when that is the complete job

If your method only removes heat, compare a suitable cooling-only circulator by target-temperature capacity, hydraulic performance and connection requirements. Heating capability is not a substitute for adequate cooling duty.

Choose this HRC when you need both directions

HRC 2 GREEN control adds active heating to refrigerated circulation and provides WiCo programming. It is the instrument in this order, with US 115 V electrical ratings.

Choose a larger system when the duty demands it

Below-ambient capability does not guarantee enough heat removal at the coldest setpoint. Check the capacity table, circuit volume, pressure limits, ambient conditions and desired time to target before ordering.

A practical external-circuit workflow

Start with the application, not the front-panel maximum

  • Define target temperature, actual heat load and desired temperature-change time.
  • Confirm the external system’s pressure, flow, wetted materials and thermal limits.
  • Specify hoses, insulation and thermofluid; confirm whether the external PT100.30 must be ordered.
  • Install, settle, fill, vent and leak-check exactly as the manual directs. Never run without sufficient fluid.
  • Set appropriate fluid/safety limits and control mode, then verify the method under the actual load.

The manual requires at least 20 cm free space at the front and rear, a minimum 10 m³ room and adequate ventilation. After positioning, wait at least one hour before starting the refrigeration system. Body dimensions do not include all operating clearances.

Workflow from defining thermal duty to matching the circuit, specifying accessories and commissioning to the manual
Planning overview only. The full operating manual governs installation, fluid choice, safety limits and operation.

Useful controls, sensible maintenance and clear safety limits

Connect a separately configured PC workflow

RS-232, Micro-USB and the multifunction interface support integration described in the manual. Optional labworldsoft can support control and data collection. No software license, regulatory recordkeeping compliance or validated automation is implied.

Keep routine fluid handling accessible

A filling opening, digital level indication and front drain help manage thermofluid. The front filter is accessible for cleaning. Isolate power and follow the manual before draining, maintenance or accessory changes.

Treat R290 and hot/cold fluid appropriately

R290 is a natural, flammable refrigerant. Do not damage or open its sealed circuit; manufacturer service is required. Use the required ventilation, room size and process safeguards. DIN class III (FL) does not mean explosion-proof operation.

The English manual states a 24-month baseline warranty with exclusions for wear, improper use and inadequate care. Any registration extension depends on IKA’s applicable exact-model terms. Blue Tiger Scientific handles purchases and return requests; IKA handles warranty assessment, technical support, calibration and repairs.

Related reactor-development workflows

Related workflow: IKA LR 1000 basic as an alternative reactor workflow. The reactor and its required accessories remain separate purchases, with their own process limits.

Specify the complete temperature-control circuit

For order 0020128747, US 115 V, tell Blue Tiger your target temperature, heat load, external equipment, circuit fluid volume, hose length and available electrical supply. We can coordinate confirmation of the current packing scope and application questions with IKA.

Confirm external probe inclusion and the separate hoses/fluid before treating the setup as ready to run. Manufacturer availability, dispatch timing and actual packed mass require order-specific confirmation; the store quantity is not a supplier-stock statement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does HRC 2 GREEN control 0020128747 heat as well as cool?

Yes. This US 115 V version is a heating and refrigerated circulation thermostat with a −30°C to +100°C working range, 1,200 W heating output and 1,500 W maximum input. Actual achievable process temperatures depend on the fluid, ambient conditions, external circuit and heat load.

Does it provide 620 W of cooling at −30°C?

No. The DIN 12876 reference capacities at 4,000 rpm are 620 W at +20°C, 600 W at +10°C, 480 W at 0°C, 350 W at −10°C, 200 W at −20°C and 80 W at −30°C. Size the unit at your target temperature, not by its highest capacity.

Does the US order include the external PT100.30 probe?

Its inclusion needs confirmation. The English manual lists Pt 100.30 in the delivery scope, while the current product page describes PT100.30 with LEMO connector as an accessory. We do not promise it as included with 0020128747 until the current US packing scope is confirmed. Hoses and suitable thermofluid are also separate selections.

Can the pump deliver 21 L/min at 0.5 bar?

Those are not simultaneous maxima. The 21 L/min reference is at zero back pressure, while 0.5 bar maximum pressure is at zero discharge flow. Use the actual circuit resistance and the manual’s pump curve to choose an operating point. The adjustable pump runs at 2,000–4,000 rpm.

Does the 4 L bath limit my sample to 4 L?

No. The 1.4–4.0 L fill range is the internal thermofluid bath, not a sample rating. IKA describes up to 2.5 L available for an external circuit without refilling. External circuit volume, heat load, fluid expansion and application limits must all be evaluated separately.

Is ±0.05 K the guaranteed accuracy of my process?

No. ±0.05 K is the internal temperature-stability reference at +70°C under the stated DIN conditions; the −10°C stability reference is ±0.1 K. Listed internal and external absolute measurement accuracy is ±0.5 K, adjustable by calibration. Probe mounting and the actual method still need verification.

Do I need a PC, or can WiCo operate the circulator by itself?

A PC purchase is not required for local operation. The supplied WiCo supports local settings, timer/counter functions and 10 temperature ramps with up to 10 steps each. The manual’s up-to-15 m wireless distance depends on the building, and communication-loss behavior depends on the configured settings.

What should I confirm before ordering or installing it?

Confirm 115 V power, target-temperature cooling duty, pressure/flow limits, compatible hoses and fluid, and the external probe packing scope. The manual requires a minimum 10 m³ room, ventilation, at least 20 cm at front/rear and one hour settling after positioning. Shipping uses a provisional 75 lb packing allowance, not the 26.5 kg instrument mass as measured shipping gross; dispatch and final carton details need confirmation.
