HANNA PHOTOMETER REAGENTS · HI95747
Low-range copper chemistry, matched to your meter.
Replenish an established freshwater copper testing workflow without buying another instrument. Hanna HI95747 powder reagents are offered in 100-test and 300-test packs for the same copper low range method. Choose by workload, not by a different measurement range.
Official Hanna copper LR reference packaging. Printed lot and expiration dates are illustrative, not the expiration date of supplied stock.
Check the method before the pack size
Use HI95747-01 or HI95747-03 with the HI97747 copper low range photometer. Its method covers 0.000 to 1.500 mg/L as Cu²⁺. These are not HI93702 copper high range reagents, total copper digestion reagents, or Checker HC refills. The US product description specifies freshwater samples; do not treat this as a universal marine or seawater reagent.
A defined reaction, a named reporting basis
The bicinchoninate reaction develops a color that the photometer converts into a copper result. The range stated here belongs specifically to HI97747. Benchtop instruments can use different ranges and reporting units, so use the copper LR method for the exact meter rather than transferring a portable range to every model.
Check your sample matrix
Start with freshwater samples appropriate for the method. The HI97747 manual identifies cyanide and silver as potential interferences. If a sample exceeds the reagent buffering capacity around pH 6.8, the manual calls for adjustment to pH 6–8. Review these conditions before relying on results from unusual matrices.
What the refill supplies
Each selected pack supplies pre-measured HI95747-0 copper LR powder reagent for either 100 or 300 determinations. One determination consumes one packet. The packet count is a test capacity, not a count of photometers or reusable cuvettes.
Set up separately
Have the HI97747 photometer, suitable clean cuvettes with stoppers and caps, a sample and any method-specific preparation accessories ready separately. None is included in this reagent refill. CAL Check standards are separate instrument verification materials, not sample reagents.
Work through the measurement sequence
For HI97747, fill a clean cuvette with 10 mL of unreacted sample, fit the stopper and cap, align it in the holder and zero the meter. Add one packet of HI95747-0, close and shake gently for about 15 seconds. Use the 45-second countdown before reading. Follow the complete method manual for timing, temperature and cuvette handling.
Select for your testing schedule
Choose HI95747-01 for 100 tests when a smaller refill suits your sample schedule. Choose HI95747-03 for 300 tests when routine throughput justifies a larger pack. Allow for repeat measurements and quality-control work, and plan use around the expiration date on the supplied lot.
Other documented instrument methods
Hanna exact-model manuals also list this reagent family for HI83300, HI83303, HI83305, HI83306, HI83308 and HI83399. Match the low-range parameter method and use the range and workflow for that instrument; compatibility does not mean identical measurement settings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which pack should I select?
HI95747-01 provides 100 tests; HI95747-03 provides 300 tests. Both use HI95747-0 powder reagent. Select a test capacity you can use within the supplied lot’s expiration date.
Is this the right copper reagent for HI97747?
Yes. The HI97747 method manual explicitly lists both HI95747 pack sizes. HI93702 is a different copper high range family and must not be substituted merely because both measure copper.
What range and units should I expect?
On HI97747, the method range is 0.000 to 1.500 mg/L as Cu²⁺. Other compatible photometers may have different method ranges or display units. A larger pack does not extend the range.
Can I use it for seawater or any water sample?
Start with freshwater samples appropriate for the method. The HI97747 manual identifies cyanide and silver as potential interferences. If a sample exceeds the reagent buffering capacity around pH 6.8, the manual calls for adjustment to pH 6–8. Review these conditions before relying on results from unusual matrices.
How much sample and reagent does a test use?
The HI97747 procedure uses 10 mL of sample and one packet of HI95747-0. Zero with unreacted sample, then add the reagent. Shake gently for about 15 seconds and use the 45-second reaction countdown.
Does this include the meter or CAL Check standards?
No. It is a reagent-only refill. The photometer, cuvettes, caps, cleaning accessories and CAL Check standards are separate. Standards check instrument performance; sample reagents react with the water being tested.
Which other photometers list this chemistry?
Exact-model Hanna manuals also list this reagent family for HI83300, HI83303, HI83305, HI83306, HI83308 and HI83399. Choose their copper LR method and follow the model-specific range and procedure.
How should I check and handle a new pack?
Read the lot number and expiration date on the supplied packets, review the linked US HI95747-0 Safety Data Sheet, and follow its handling and disposal guidance. Keep the cuvette exterior clean and dry and avoid bubbles during measurement.
