Choose the reactive fraction at high range
Keep high-range reactive phosphorus testing aligned with the fraction your method calls for. These pre-dosed vials support 0.0–32.6 mg/L as phosphorus (P) without a heated digestion step.

Select the right method
Choose this set when reactive orthophosphate, not digested total phosphorus, is the desired fraction. For total phosphorus select the distinct HI93763B-50 chemistry and a digestion workflow.
One vial becomes your blank
The pack contains 50 HI93763A-0 reagent vials. Both instrument manuals specify up to 49 tests, because a separate vial is used for the reagent blank. A same-lot blank may be reused for up to two weeks at room temperature under the method; extra blanks, QC and repeats reduce sample yield.
Prepare and read
Select Phosphorus Reactive HR (16) and insert the 16 mm vial adapter. Add 5 mL deionized water to a blank vial and 5 mL sample to a second vial; cap and invert to mix. Wait 7 minutes, zero on the blank, then read the sample. Follow your instrument manual and actual lot instructions.
Reporting and sample suitability
The range is 0.0–32.6 mg/L as P, with 0.1 mg/L resolution. The meter can convert reporting forms, but the same numeric range cannot be relabeled as phosphate or phosphorus pentoxide. Use neutral-pH sample; bismuth, fluoride, sulfide and substantial turbidity may interfere. The manual recommends measurement at 20–25 °C.
Plan the complete setup
Have an HI83314 or HI83399 with 16 mm adapter, accurate 5 mL transfer equipment, cleaning materials, protective equipment and appropriate waste handling available. Have deionized water available for the blank; confirm whether it is included with your lot. Store unused vials in their packaging in a cool dark place.
Compatibility and responsible handling
The direct 16 mm vial method is documented for HI83314 and HI83399. Confirm your instrument and adapter before ordering. The manufacturer identifies this offer as dangerous goods and says dangerous goods can ship only by ground; confirm destination and carrier restrictions. Follow the current component safety data sheets and the instructions for your actual lot. Photometer, accessories and handling equipment are separate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this total phosphorus?
No. This direct method targets reactive orthophosphate, not the total fraction after digestion.
How many samples can the pack test?
The pack has 50 vials and supports up to 49 tests with a separate reusable blank; additional blanks, QC and repeats reduce yield.
Does it need a reactor?
No heated digestion step is specified for the reactive HR vial method.
How is the blank prepared?
Use 5 mL deionized water in a separate same-lot reagent vial. The manual permits reuse for up to two weeks at room temperature; follow the detailed method.
Which instruments are supported?
The HI83314 and HI83399 manuals directly identify this reagent and the reactive HR 16 mm vial method. Use the adapter and your instrument’s own instructions.
Is the range in phosphate?
The stated 0.0–32.6 mg/L range is as phosphorus, P. A conversion is not the same numeric range and does not change reactive phosphorus into total phosphorus.
What else should I have available?
Have a compatible meter and 16 mm adapter, 5 mL measurement tools, PPE and chemical-waste arrangements available. Have deionized water available for the blank; confirm whether it is included with your lot.
What can interfere?
Bismuth, fluoride, sulfide and substantial turbidity can interfere. Use the manual’s sample treatment and temperature guidance, and review the current SDS and actual lot instructions.
