HANNA PHOTOMETER REAGENTS · HI937520
Measure magnesium. Keep hardness out of the equation.
Replenish the magnesium method on your HI97752 with a matched A/B liquid reagent set. Choose 50 or 150 determinations for a water-testing routine that reports magnesium ions directly, rather than a hardness equivalent.

Match the method, not just the element name
HI97752: 0 to 150 mg/L as Mg²⁺. Calmagite chemistry produces a red tint that the photometer measures as magnesium concentration. The HI97752 magnesium method reports 0 to 150 mg/L as Mg²⁺. This is not the HI93719 magnesium/total hardness chemistry and is not a CaCO₃ hardness scale.
What the selected pack supplies
A complete magnesium A/B liquid reagent set for the selected number of tests. The official product-page photo is generic bottle artwork, not a photograph of every included component.
Where this method fits
Useful when your water-testing plan calls for magnesium concentration, including nutrient-management work where magnesium and calcium are tracked separately. Check coexisting ions before relying on a result; this is not a universal seawater or brine method.
The HI97752 workflow at a glance
Select Magnesium on the HI97752. Add 1 mL of HI93752A-Mg to a cuvette, then use HI93752B-Mg to fill to the 10 mL mark (9 mL). Stopper, cap and invert several times. Align the cap notch in the holder groove and zero this reagent mixture before adding any sample. Remove the cuvette and use a second 1 mL syringe to add 0.5 mL of sample. Stopper, cap, invert to mix and return the cuvette in the same alignment. Press Read for the 15-second countdown and magnesium result.
Check the sample matrix
Acidity or alkalinity above 1000 mg/L as CaCO₃ and calcium above 200 mg/L may interfere. Aluminum, copper and iron must be absent. The CaCO₃ unit in that interference limit does not change the magnesium reporting unit.
Choose a pack around your workload
HI937520-01 supplies 50 tests; HI937520-03 supplies 150 tests. The larger pack supplies three times the determinations, not a different measuring range. One order quantity means one complete selected pack. Choose by testing frequency and the lot/expiry markings on supplied stock.
What to have beside the reagent set
Supply the compatible photometer, cuvettes with stoppers and caps, and the measuring/dispensing accessories required by the method separately. CAL Check standards are separate instrument-verification materials, not replacements for sample reagents.
Handling before you begin
Magnesium reagent A causes skin and serious eye irritation according to its US SDS. Use suitable gloves and eye/face protection and review both component SDS for storage, first aid and waste handling.
Use the exact-model Method Manual below for the complete procedure, cuvette preparation and temperature guidance. Other documented instruments: HI83300, HI83325, HI83399. Use the matching method in the manual for your exact instrument.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I choose 50 or 150 tests?
HI937520-01 supplies 50 tests; HI937520-03 supplies 150 tests. Both are complete reagent sets for the same method. Choose by expected workload and marked expiry dates, not by a different analytical range.
Is this magnesium concentration or magnesium hardness?
It is magnesium concentration: the HI97752 range is 0 to 150 mg/L as Mg²⁺. It is not magnesium hardness as CaCO₃ and is not the HI93719 reagent family.
Why do I zero before adding my water sample?
The HI97752 magnesium method zeros the mixture of 1 mL reagent A and 9 mL reagent B first. Only then do you add 0.5 mL of sample with a second syringe. Zeroing unreacted sample would not follow this method.
Does the single bottle photo mean this is a one-component test?
No. The selected complete reagent set provides magnesium reagents A and B. Hanna uses a generic bottle photo on these exact product pages; the photograph is not a complete contents inventory.
How long is the magnesium reaction countdown?
After adding the 0.5 mL sample and mixing, use the HI97752 15-second Read countdown. Keep the cuvette clean and aligned and follow the full manual for temperature-dependent timing guidance.
Which photometers are documented for HI937520?
Both packs are documented for HI83300, HI83325, HI83399, HI97752. The procedure and range on this page use HI97752 as the primary reference; follow the exact instrument method when using another model.
Which sample conditions should I check first?
Acidity or alkalinity above 1000 mg/L as CaCO₃ and calcium above 200 mg/L may interfere. Aluminum, copper and iron must be absent. The CaCO₃ unit in that interference limit does not change the magnesium reporting unit.
Are the instrument, cuvettes and CAL Check standards included?
No. These are reagent-only packs. Provide the photometer, cuvettes with stoppers and caps, and the method-required sampling and dispensing accessories separately. CAL Check standards are separate instrument-validation materials, not test reagents.
