HANNA PHOTOMETER REAGENTS · HI93739
Keep high-range fluoride testing ready for the next sample
Replenish the matched liquid chemistry for fluoride measurements with Hanna HI93739. Choose a nominal 100-test or 300-test set for the same SPADNS method, with HI97739 as the primary instrument reference. Plan the sample preparation as carefully as the reagent supply: wastewater and seawater require distillation before measurement.
Manufacturer reference photo shows the liquid reagent system. Bottle number, fill volumes and pictured accessories are not a confirmed packing list; choose by nominal test capacity.
Match the method, not just the element name
HI97739: 0.0–20.0 mg/L as fluoride (F−). Two liquid components: HI93739A-0 and HI93739B-0. Not fluoride low-range or Checker chemistry.
What the selected pack supplies
HI93739-01 and HI93739-03 are complete matched fluoride high-range reagent sets with manufacturer-nominal capacities of 100 and 300 tests. The method uses liquid A and B; physical bottle counts and fill volumes are not independently itemized here.
Where this method fits
Use this high-range method when the expected fluoride concentration and sample matrix suit the HI97739 procedure. It is not an unrestricted direct field test for wastewater or seawater: arrange the required distillation before analysis. The reagent family is also documented for HI83300 and HI83399; use each instrument’s own procedure.
The HI97739 workflow at a glance
Using separate liquid-handling tools as directed, add 2 mL of HI93739A-0 and 8 mL of HI93739B-0 to the cuvette. Cap, invert to mix, and allow the one-minute countdown before zeroing. Add 1 mL of unreacted, appropriately prepared sample with a second syringe, cap and invert, then use the one-minute read countdown. This overview does not replace the complete instrument procedure.
Check the sample matrix
Distillation is required for wastewater and seawater. Highly colored or turbid samples may also require distillation. The manual lists interference above: alkalinity 5000 mg/L as CaCO3, chloride 700 mg/L, sulfate 200 mg/L, orthophosphate 16 mg/L, aluminum 0.1 mg/L, ferric iron 10 mg/L and sodium hexametaphosphate 1.0 mg/L. Highly alkaline samples can be neutralized with nitric acid following the manual and appropriate laboratory precautions.
Choose a pack around your workload
HI93739-01 supplies 100 tests; HI93739-03 supplies 300 tests. The larger pack supplies three times the determinations, not a different measuring range. One order quantity means one complete selected pack. Choose by testing frequency and the lot/expiry markings on supplied stock.
What to have beside the reagent set
Supply the compatible photometer, cuvettes with stoppers and caps, and the measuring/dispensing accessories required by the method separately. CAL Check standards are separate instrument-verification materials, not replacements for sample reagents.
Handling before you begin
Review both current US component SDS documents before use. Use the PPE, ventilation, storage and disposal precautions in those documents and keep reagent dispensing separate from sample dispensing. Check the supplied lot and expiry markings. Hanna marks these offers as Dangerous Goods, with ground shipment only.
Use the linked HI97739 instrument manual as the method reference for the complete procedure, precautions and instrument operation. This is not a separate reagent instruction manual.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I choose 100 or 300 tests?
HI93739-01 supplies 100 tests; HI93739-03 supplies 300 tests. Both are complete reagent sets for the same method. Choose by expected workload and marked expiry dates, not by a different analytical range.
Is this the low-range fluoride reagent?
No. HI93739 is the fluoride high-range reagent system. The HI97739 method covers 0.0–20.0 mg/L as F−. Do not substitute low-range or Checker reagents based only on the analyte name.
Can I measure seawater or wastewater directly?
No. The HI97739 manual requires distillation before measuring wastewater or seawater. Highly colored or turbid samples may also need distillation. Confirm preparation facilities before ordering for these matrices.
What must I provide for liquid handling?
The procedure calls for separate 1 mL syringes for reagent A and sample, plus the specified pipette and tip for reagent B. Do not infer these are included from the reference photo; provide the required accessories and any distillation equipment separately.
Does a 300-test set mean a known bottle count?
No. The manufacturer publishes nominal test capacity. This page does not infer bottle counts or fill volumes. Both liquid components must be used in the specified proportions for each determination.
Which photometers are documented for HI93739?
Both packs are documented for HI97739, HI83300, HI83399. The procedure and range on this page use HI97739 as the primary reference; follow the exact instrument method when using another model.
Which sample conditions should I check first?
Distillation is required for wastewater and seawater. Highly colored or turbid samples may also require distillation. The manual lists interference above: alkalinity 5000 mg/L as CaCO3, chloride 700 mg/L, sulfate 200 mg/L, orthophosphate 16 mg/L, aluminum 0.1 mg/L, ferric iron 10 mg/L and sodium hexametaphosphate 1.0 mg/L. Highly alkaline samples can be neutralized with nitric acid following the manual and appropriate laboratory precautions.
Are the instrument, cuvettes and CAL Check standards included?
No. These are reagent-only packs. Provide the photometer, cuvettes with stoppers and caps, and the method-required sampling and dispensing accessories separately. CAL Check standards are separate instrument-validation materials, not test reagents.
