The NDX-2 presents a direct refractive-index scale for samples that fall within 1.435–1.520 nD. This is a useful distinction when your method calls for nD rather than a Brix, salinity or coolant conversion. Compare your expected result range with both endpoints before ordering; the model does not extend down to the refractive index of pure water.

An optical instrument with controlled handling

The high-contrast scale, optical-glass prism and all-metal prism housing support a clear boundary-line reading. The rubber grip limits direct hand heat reaching the body, while the non-roll stand helps keep the instrument in place on a flat bench. Its manual calls for calibration at the start of the day and when ambient temperature changes; it also explains correction for water-based solutions and oils.
