Choose the scale for the material being measured

MDX-103 provides separate dextran, fructose, glucose, lactose, maltose and sucrose/Brix scales. Their ranges are not interchangeable: dextran reaches 10.5%, fructose 68%, glucose 59%, lactose 16.5%, maltose 15.5% and sucrose 90%. Match the sample and expected concentration with the scale before deciding this is the right instrument.

A numerical result for the working method

The large digital display makes the selected scale and result easy to keep together in a test record. All six scales have 0.1% resolution and ±0.2% stated accuracy. Having six conversions does not make the instrument a separation technique: a mixed formulation still needs an appropriate, validated interpretation.

Prepare, zero and read

The manufacturer specifies distilled water for zeroing. Follow the MDX-103 manual for sample placement, temperature compensation and the 15-read continuous-loop mode. The stainless-steel prism well and removable cover/grip support access to the reading area; use the documented care procedure rather than an assumed solvent compatibility.
