Match the scale to the coolant

The MDX-603 keeps two coolant chemistries distinct: ethylene glycol and propylene glycol. Select the appropriate chemistry before using its concentration or freezing-point scale. The concentration ranges are 0–65% v/v for ethylene glycol and 0–73% v/v for propylene glycol; the wrong chemistry selection is not a substitute for identifying the sample.

A compact reading station

The stainless-steel prism well sits beneath a cover, with a removable rubber grip around the handheld body. A digital display avoids interpreting a boundary line through an eyepiece. The 15-read continuous-loop function supports repeated observations of the sample; keep the selected scale and reported units with the result.

Set up and check before the sample

The manufacturer specifies zeroing with distilled water and provides a dedicated MDX-603 manual below. Follow that procedure and the temperature-compensation instructions before testing. Concentration resolution is 0.1% with stated accuracy of ±0.5%; resolution is the display increment, not an accuracy guarantee at every operating condition.

Choose the right protection and range

The detecting unit is rated IP67 and the remainder IP65—not a single whole-instrument immersion rating. The case protects the instrument between sessions. Confirm the required freezing-point limits before ordering: the published Celsius and Fahrenheit endpoints are inconsistent, so precise endpoint claims are intentionally withheld here.
