Centrifuge Tubes: Choose Your Volume, Sterility and Pack
From 10 mL sample preparation to 250 mL bulk spins, MTC Bio centrifuge tubes are molded from premium polypropylene for clarity and centrifugal strength. Flat-top screw caps give you a clean surface for labeling, with temperature and speed limits that depend on the selected tube.
Sterile and non-sterile tube options are clearly identified by SKU, and the 15 and 50 mL tubes are leak-proof to 95 kPa (14 psi). Choose racked, bagged, individually wrapped, or non-sterile bulk packaging to match how your lab works.
Choose your centrifuge tube and pack
Start with 15 or 50 mL: sterile foam-racked C2600/C2602, bagged C2601/C2603 and eco-plastic-racked C2607/C2608 are 500/case. Individually wrapped C2615-W/C2650-W are 300/case. Non-sterile C2601-B/C2603-B are 500/case with separately packed caps. Light-blocking amber C2601-AM (15 mL, bags of 50) and C2603-AM (50 mL, bags of 25) are sterile, 500/case. Spare sterile blue caps: C2601-CAP (15 mL) and C2603-CAP (50 mL), 500/bag.
Other live choices: C2410 is 10 mL, 1,000/case. Sterile 25 mL C2625-B (bagged) and C2625-R (racked) are 200/pack. C2630 (30 mL) and C2605 (50 mL) are self-standing, 500/case. C1250 is 250 mL, 70/case with one six-position rack; R1900 is five racks only.
Do not infer sterility from a suffix: C2625-B is sterile, unlike C2601-B and C2603-B. Match tube geometry, rotor support and the SKU-specific RCF rating before ordering.

Stands on Its Own

Match the tube to its RCF rating: 15 mL conicals to 12,000 × g, 50 mL conicals to 15,000 × g, and skirted tubes to 7,000 × g. Always balance tubes across the rotor and use the correct adapters.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are all of these centrifuge tubes sterile?
No. C2601-B (15 mL) and C2603-B (50 mL) are non-sterile bulk tubes with separately packed caps. The other tube SKUs listed here, including the amber C2601-AM and C2603-AM, are sterile. C2625-B is a sterile bagged 25 mL tube; the C2601-CAP and C2603-CAP spare caps are sterile; R1900 is a rack-only accessory.
How do I choose 15 mL versus 50 mL centrifuge tubes?
Choose the volume required by your protocol, then confirm tube dimensions, rotor support and the allowed RCF. The 15 mL conicals are 17 × 121 mm; 50 mL conicals are 29 × 117 mm. Fit is not guaranteed for every rotor or adapter.
What is the maximum centrifugal force?
10 and 15 mL conicals: 12,000 × g; 25 mL conicals: 17,000 × g; 50 mL conicals: 15,000 × g; skirted 30 and 50 mL tubes: 7,000 × g; C1250 250 mL: 6,000 × g. Ratings assume liquid specific gravity 1.0 and appropriate rotors, cushions and adapters.
Can the tubes be frozen?
The standard 15, 30 and 50 mL tubes and caps are rated to −86 °C. The large-volume C1250 has a manufacturer temperature range of −80 to 120 °C. Do not apply a single temperature specification to every size or accessory.
Why choose a 25 mL tube?
C2625-B and C2625-R offer a low-profile format between 15 and 50 mL, with a 360-degree support rim. Both are sterile and supplied as eight bags or racks of 25 tubes, 200/pack. Confirm rotor and rack compatibility.
Do 10 mL tubes fit 15 mL equipment?
The manufacturer describes C2410 as generally compatible with 15 mL centrifuge rotors, racks and block heaters. Check the 16 × 104 mm dimensions and your equipment requirements before use.
What is the difference between racked, bagged and individually wrapped tubes?
Racked packs keep tubes organized for bench use; bagged packs contain multiple tubes together. C2615-W and C2650-W are individually wrapped sterile tubes, 300/case. Racked and bagged 15 and 50 mL options are 500/case.
Does the 250 mL option include a rack?
C1250 includes 70 sterile 250 mL tubes and one six-position rack. R1900 is a separate pack of five racks for six 250 mL tubes each; it does not include tubes.
When should I use the amber tubes?
C2601-AM (15 mL) and C2603-AM (50 mL) are light-blocking amber versions of the sterile bagged conical tubes, with flat screw caps, for light-sensitive samples and reagents. Confirm the degree of light protection your application requires.
Can I buy replacement caps?
Yes. C2601-CAP fits the 15 mL tubes and C2603-CAP fits the 50 mL tubes. Both are sterile blue HDPE screw caps in a resealable bag of 500, useful for re-capping, replacing lost caps or capping bulk-filled tubes.
